I can't believe that the French were better at war than the British? First time I've ever heard that, I have never seen that in any book I have read. Once again another anti British program, why is it so fashionable? It's pathetic to have such self hatred, I am aware that most of Europe have a problem with Britain, if you know your history it's easy to see why. We were Great, shame we have had weak and globalist leaders that have destroyed our national pride!

Most Wars are caused when the Rich and Powerful of one country wants something another country has. The Poor give up their children to die, the middle class pay taxes to pay for the War, and the Rich and Powerful gain riches and land. Kings and Queens are just the most successful Psychopathic Gansters of all human history!

I remember reading many years ago that the first war to be photographed was actually the Second Anglo-Burmese War of 1852-53. It's a pretty obscure affair even by small colonial campaign standards though, which is why this particular 'first' gets ignored in favour of something everybody knows.

I wish I could have walked right up to the stones at Stonehenge when I was there. But the public is kept back several feet and you can't get close to them. It's a beautiful place. The road from the East, heading West splits right at Stonehenge and you can see it up on a hill as you approach.

Noticed a politically correct idiot early on the documentary criticising the values of the French and British troops in the 1850s. I wish theyd keep such politically correct children out of serious documentaries. We dont need to be told about values being different 170 years ago.

What does this have to do with photography of war? More like a British take on the Crimean War and how they won it even though they acquitted themselves very badly and the French actually did all of the heavy lifting. Typical British self-aggrandizing propaganda.

Hey Europe, sorry. The first photographed war was either the Mexican-American war or the American Civil war. Depending on how you quantify photographs. You guys are the first in many areas of history, but not all.

I'm really amazed at how ignorant these men were to the horrors of war, maybe they just were very uneducated and had low IQs and had nothing better to look forward to in life than an adventure of going to war.

Erm to give a documentary a go or not when you realize they got the premise of the documentary wrong. There are many great documentaries on the Crimean war for sure, I just pose the questionderplol.

Many a war was started because the high and mighty, hoity toity foreign correspondents sent lies and propaganda back to London. London has no choice but to react to these lies and over exaggerations!

and today. what happened to their offspring that they are such a pale resemblance, if we can even say resemblance. those people must be turning into their grave. how the tide has turned. sickening.

Imagine inviting A list celebrities to watch a battle nowadays? In some ways we have improved, then I go on social media and realise we all are invited to any atrocity anywhere in the world.

So proud to fight and die. The love and fear of misery. Men marching off to war to die for reasons that wouldnt affect a poor man. The poor are miserable no matter who over lords him.

The music 1: 20 has taken away the prospect of me taking anything said after seriously, now i am picturing they were being led by Captain Pugwash & other assorted humorous characters

I would love to see actual photos of the Charge of the Light Brigade or Pickett's Charge at Gettysburg nine years later. To see the onset of glory of those engaging in futility.

At the 13th minute, the suggestion is put forth, yawn, of racist contempt. Rather, it was contempt for poor behaviour; sloth, filth, the very opposite of British values.
reply

Today no one wants war. Having fought one never again want to take part. Only the leaders of sick mind will start war off. Take Putin he is mad and evil
reply

I had to quit watching this video because of the brutal horror and sickening disgust that I felt listening to the british accent of the female speaker.
reply

Nope, the Crimean War wasn't the first. The Mexican-American war was first in 1847. Your title should be the first British war to be photographed.
