The last fact is a little misleading in it's wording. Whereas yes Coca Cola did not invent the image of Santa we know today, they popularized a single version of him, making that version the 'canon' Santa in a way. Before hand Santa looked all sorts of ways. He would wear long robes, short coats, full fur coats, a crown, a cap, be fat, be skinny, be a red head, be blonde, have white hair, wear purple, wear green, etc. These images were inspired by the likes of saint Nicolas and father winter. Though it wasn't until the coca cola campaign until everyone finally settled on one definitive image of Santa. As a fat, button nosed guy in a red suit with a big white beard.

It is also a myth that Christmas was celebrated on the 25th in order to convert pagans. In fact, at least one historian (Thomas Talley) has put forth evidence suggesting that the pagan celebration was celebrated on the 25th in order to coincide with Christian celebrations that were already taking place, presumably so that Christian celebrations wouldn't be so noticeable.

HUGE DISLIKE for this blasphemous video. this is all just OPINION being passed off as truth.
CHRISTMAS IS DEC 25 FOR A REASON.
pagans are just a bunch of troublemakers trying to pass their beliefs off on others when they wouldnt like others doing that to them.
And WeirdHistory, it is Merry CHRISTmas

I would argue that easter as it is known isn't a Christian holiday either. Because honestly what do the eggs have to do with the resurrection of Christ? Many Christians including myself would prefer to refer to this day as Resurrection sunday instead of easter, in order to remind people of what the day is actually for

Ahah, I remember when I was younger saying Xmas instead of Christmas wasnt really a thing so a few of my classmates got very upset over someone writing it, insisting we had to use Christmas for christ, we were about seven and in a very catholic area. It makes me chuckle to this day.

Here's another. There was no reindeer named Donner. In A Visit From St. Nicholas, the reindeer was named Donder which means Thunder and goes with Blitzen which means Lightning. There is no story titled The Night Before Christmas. The actual story is A Visit From St. Nicholas.

I actually did know the bulk of this. Christmas actually falls on the Pagan holiday of Saturnalia. It was common for early Christians to kind of co-opt pagan rituals and holidays as a way of more easily converting them. Easter is named for the Pagan Festival of Ishtar, too.

Santa was originally Odin who rewarded the good and punished the bad. Thanksgiving, easter, christmas, mothers day, valentine's day and more celebrations are what you Christians call pagan celebrations. And the word pagan is a christian insult meaning heathen.

The war on Christmas is real. Just 10 or so years ago, every store would decorate for Christmas and wish you a Merry Christmas as you checked out. Hardly any stores decorate any longer and I can't remember the last time a store employee wished me a Merry Christmas

The Puritans weren't just a bunch of humbugs. They banned Christmas to distance themselves from the debauchery that was practiced in England during the yuletide season. If you look it up, you'll find that Christmas wasn't exactly family friendly in those days.

I know I will get flack for this. but. I hate Christmas. I've hated it since my mom died in 1977. I think it's over rated. expensive. and not a happy time of year. its depressing. I have a Pepsi Santa from the 50s. kinda rare I've been told.

Saint Nicholas was not Turkish. While he was from what is now turkey, at the point of time he was alive, the Turks weren't even in Anatolia. He was Greek or a member of some kind of hellenic people or something.

So the pilgrim fathers banned Christmas. That makes them among the earliest born-agains. Now you know why they're not so many but popular and abused by politicians here in the Philippines.

I think the phrase We Three Kings refers to Saul, David, and Solomon. The only three Israelite kings to reign over a United Kingdom of Israel.
