I'm decended from the Howards. Actually the daughter I'm decended from (another Katharine, but not the famous one) had a serious grudge against Henry. He executed her first Welsh husband for attempting to reclaim his birthright and forced her into an abusive second marriage, for which she harassed him so mercilessly he agreed to allow her a divorce. He also executed another of her Howard family members for daring to use King Edward I's royal arms in his household badge. Henry was super insecure about his claim to the throne.
Then she narrowly avoided execution herself along with her mother because they both failed to guard Katharine Howard's virtue in her early years and she was not a virgin when she wed the king. She lived out the rest of her life in scandal along with her mother, the Dowager Duchess of Norfolk. Her Welsh children fled to America and changed their names to Rice. And thus, you get me and many other American decendents of the Howards through the female line.
My ancestor watched helplessly as Henry killed two of her nieces, her husband, a nephew, and nearly herself and her beloved mother, whom she lived with and was very close.
After killing a wife, Henry seemed to have lost his damn mind. Traditionally, nobles are imprisoned or exciled, not killed. Not unless they raise troops. Henry was absolutely considered a murderous tyrant, who some say killed nobles with more of a claim to the throne than himself.

Henry never actually agrees to Mary's demand about her choosing her next husband, because he knew he could marry her off again for a political alliance.
Also- technically Mary and Charles committed treason when they married secretly because didn't get permission first.
So they could of been arrested and executed, but Henry was very close to his sister (and had been all their lives) so in the end he levied a huge fine on them (which he greatly reduced a few years later) and took Mary's whole dowry from her first marriage and some gold plates and jewels.

One of the best jobs in King Henry's VIII Court was ( get this ) Whipping his Ass. Yes that's right, it was one of the best or thee best job. You not only litterly had the Royal Buttocks at hand but you had the Kings ear which was extremely important at getting things done at your convenience, and yes the Royal Crapper is still around today.

There is a very good chance that the first child of Mary Boleyn, Cathrine Carey (later Knollys) was in fact Henrys. She certainly bore the Tudor looks and was born during the time that Mary was in a relationship with Henry. If your curious look her up, she bore a striking resemblance to Elizabeth.

No one thought there was a strange coincidence that the men his sister didn't love died in a short period of time? The one she wanted lived til she died. C'mon, the family was psychotic, it obvious that woman did something to cause their deaths.

I mean. comparing a King to Bernie Sanders is just stretching it. Bernie Sanders achieved nearly nothing and done nothing to change anything in his entire career. He is a sole loser with no accomplishment to his name. come on now.

My Lord, he never had syphilis, it was debunked, he (along with his wives and children who would have got it from him) had ZERO syphilis symptoms, it would have been documented, but it was never mentioned

You forgot his beard tax in, I believe, 1535, which his daughter, apparently, reinstated after his death. That's why I listened to this, as I was wondering what you had to say about it.

Kinda crazy that between all that wife-murdering and insecure tyrannical rulership there was a medical revolution and major public works projects like sewers in the middle there.

I'm not sure I get it: If Elizabeth II is related to Mary Boleyn, doesn't that is some way make her loosely related in-law to Anne Boleyn and hence, Elizabeth Tudor?

I remember being so excited when The Other Boleyn Girl movie came out. It's entertaining if you don't know anything at all about the real facts of the story.

Henry VIII didn't arrange his older sister Margaret's marriage when she was 13. He would have been about age 9. It was his father, Henry VII.
