Mount Vesuvius was responsible for the destruction of the city of Pompeii in 79 AD. Nearly everyone has heard one story or another about arguably the most well-known volcanic eruption in history, but how many of you know what really happened on that fateful day in Pompeii? This mountain located on the west coast of Italy is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, but the Vesuvius eruption is just one part of the story of the Italian city. How much do you know about daily life before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius? Hopefully, these facts about Pompeii will shed some light on one of the most famous ancient catastrophes in recorded history, as well as the vibrant society that preceded it

One thing i'm only surprised of, is why you are putting skeletons through the video while like you said the bodies were very well preserved. As in bodies, movements of the exact moment and indeed it was so amazing and so terrifying watching it. I have been to Pompeii and had the tour and was most astonished with the bodies of the people then. I found it so interesting. Somehow their momentum was captured and we can still see it 2000 years later.

I don't think these people were uneducated. I'm sure they knew what a volcano was. They were just dumb enough to live so close to it. They probably figured it wouldn't go off in their lifetime. As far as women bieng lighter skinned then men. That's not because they were Higher status LOLOLOL. If anything, it because women were not allowed outside. They were locked away. The men were out and about during the day, the women stuck at home.

The worst unnatural disaster is the great extinction that we are bringing upon the world this very moment. It will almost certainly end our civilization and might terminate homo sapiens entirely.
Drought is worst common natural disaster. Its totally boring, and thats why its not often mentioned. Drought is one of the causes of the factors thar killed of most extinct civilizations.

Consider that Pompeii was destroyed right after Titus, the destroyer of Jehova's temple, became emperor. A fire consumed Jubiter's temple where Jehova's temple gold was kept right after his assumption of power. With the fire in Rome, then came plague. Titus died right after he opened the Colosseum, built with Jewish slaves and Jehova's gold. Retribution?

The fact that it was one Big orgy city is probably one of the big reasons it was destroyed. I really feel like maybe God had something to do with this because I find it too coincidental that a man fleeing from this disaster happened to get a rock headed toward him and crushes him as hes trying to leave.

I would say worst case where some people would actually survive would be Yellowstone or one of the other super volcanoes erupting would be in the top 3. A planet killing asteroid where everyone dies is absolute worst case. The sun exploding and vaporizing all of us would suck too.

We honestly don't give the people who study volcanoes and predict eruptions enough credit, They do it for a living. Without them, we wouldn't have the knowledge about what volcanoes are and what they do. Unfortunately, the citizens of Pompeii didn't have that kind of knowledge.

They were pagans if they worshipped Vulcan. Hedonist pagans whose minds must have been blown, that Vulcan answered their festival? Hedonist no more, hedonist done. She whom lives for pleasure, is dead even while she is alive.

A recent excavation has found the ancient Roman equivalent of a fast food restaurant. A tiled counter with bowls that can be heated from below. Analysis showed what had been cooked or kept warm in the bowls.
