Hedy Lamarr should be an American icon. What a story. Not only was she arguably the most beautiful women to ever don the silver screen (try putting her mug shot next to any women you might think of as beautiful. she made Maralyn Monroe look hideous, she was also the smartest. having invented the technology that allows everything to be wireless. without spread spectrum technologies (frequency hopping) there would be no cell phones, GPS, WiFi, remote controls, etc. We all owe her a lot. It was said at the time when she appeared on the silver screen for the first time, people at the theater suddenly became silent and breathless. same as when she walked into a restaurant, it would become silent. She was simple that stunning. If it wasn't for Blazing Saddles, she would be lost to history.

First of, people that submitted ideas to the navy under this program had to sign away patents, second a patent doesnt run forever, it generally 20 years. even if you add 20 years to 1945, there wasnt anything of Bluetooth going at that time. Also, its up to patent holder to enforce a patent. Also many patent fights loose on grounds that you cant patent a general idea, or concept. It has to be very unique & specific. So, it wishful thinking she would have gotten rich in it. Even if someone uses same general principal but does it different, they are seldom protected. Just how it is.

Her thieving kinda looks like she has kleptomania, people who has it doesn't really notice that what they do is bad, or if they do know that its bad, they can't stop themselves from doing so. There's this famous person here in our country that has kleptomania, and her husband had the malls she frequents, list all the stuff she takes and he'll pay for them after. But before that, the case was different, she got caught and later found out that it wasn't the first time she did it, and her diagnosis of kleptomania surfaced.

Hedy Lamar is woman of her own. However, she helped build the radar using technology created by Nikola Tesla. Hedy Lamar credited Nikola Tesla for his invention, which allowed her to build the radar system. Just like Marconi was not able to build his radio without using Nikola's invention. Just everything around us is because of Nikola Tesla; from engines, cellphones, power grids, efficient light bulbs, power circuits, etc.

Betty Davis was the female Holywood star who handled aging well. She started playing the role of an aging woman before she had to. That way, when she reached the age where that was the only kind of role that she could get, people were already used to seeing her that way. Thus, her career lasted much longer than that of those who try to keep relying on their youthful good looks for a way too long.

The ending bugged me. You really built up everything she accomplished for us and then. Tried to tear her down for shoplifting and inspiring Winona Rider to steal? I'
m sure it was an attempt at a a funny ending but it fell short and was just a kick in the vag

If there ever was a true queen to exist Heady Lamarr is definitely a contender. A woman who faced horror and stomped back. A woman to look up to.
Well. About time

So much wrong in this video. Did anyone do fact checking? Get the books by Richard Rhodes. Stephen Michael Shearer, watch the Bombshell documentary, look up the Patrick Agan stories about Hedy. Get some facts.

Heddy Lamar was a breathtaking beauty. However, there was so much to her on the inside. Her brilliance and courage is what makes her even more breathtaking! A true American hero!

When you said she was offered 150 which was upped to NEARLY 3 times the amount that ended up being 500. 3 x 150 is 450 so it wasnt nearly it was more than 3x the amount

Funny timing on this. My daughter has chosen Hedy for her 3rd grade report on influential people in history. I'll probably let her watch the first half of this video.

Sooo they counted showing legs below the knees and an arm as nudity? Yes I just watched it. No nudity and in terms of sound, it's bombarded by violin

Man, was this a _long and painful_ video to watch. It was seriously on of the few times I wished a Weird History video would be shorter.

what do I think? This woman was a beauty, undeniable! But cell phones, fighting nazis, UFOs and submarines and other rubbish are simply fake.

I've heard about her from my 60 year old aunt. I was a bit bewildered when I heard the story of her life. It seemed unbelievable!
