Have you ever wondered what people did in the Wild West for fun? Life on the American frontier was hard, without question, but cowboys, pioneers, settlers, miners, and the like also had a fair amount of time to enjoy their surroundings. At the very least, they needed some outlets to blow off steam. Many pastimes in the Wild West took place at well-known sites like saloons and brothels; however, as various sporting events and recreational activities spread across the country, people in the Wild West were also able to take part in some unique experiences as they came along. Entertainment in the Wild West might not be your idea of fun, but men, women, and children out on the frontier had a fair number of options for ways to spend their free time

Buffallo Bill s show and such a like is the reason for me being alive. Lol--- and having Native American great grandparents. I Live in Norway and my dad looked very N. A. but we never knew why - his dad was blond and his brother as well. When he died 20 years ago the truth came out. His mother had a relationship before she met my granfather and she got pregnant. That man was travelling with one of these shows -. Brazil jack western show - came to Norway in 1933 - Bringing native Americans and artists from all over the world. After taking a DNA test we finally found out more. So now i know i am part Mohawk and Lakota Sioux.

Only to the white man was nature a wilderness and only to him was the land infested with wild animals and savage people. To us it was tame. Earth was bountiful and we were surrounded with the blessings of the Great Mystery. Not until the hairy man from the east came and with brutal frenzy heaped injustices upon us and the families that we loved was it wild for us. When the very animals of the forest began fleeing from his approach, then it was that for us the Wild West began.
Chief Luther Standing Bear, Lakota
Well said Mr. Bear! (;

Cliched look at gambling. Good to mention Euchre, which was infinitely more common than poker. Poker was more often than not con games. Professional Gamblers were con artists. There was no blackjack, that name appeared in 1920. There were games based on '21' since the 1500s, but were not as common as Roulette, which was way back 2nd in popularity to Faro. Doc Holliday banked Faro to earn a living, as did the Earp brothers and Bat Masterson. More money was bet on Faro than on all other forms of gambling combined.

Do a video about what life was really like living in Hell on Wheels! Was there a real life Al Swearengen just being verbally savage all the time? Were the lawmen really as handsome as Timothy Olyphant? What were the living conditions like? How often did the move (or how quickly were they able to build the railroads) how dangerous was it?

When I see the black folks playing jn their own minsteral shows BEFORE the end of segregation.
it only reinforces my belief that America has always been projected as a much more racist place than it really is.
I guess blm wants me to treat all black or close-enough people like special little big boys and ignore the real problems.

Patent medicine at the time also contained a fair amount of opium. Women at the time would abuse the pain medication Laudlum, since drinking alcohol was considered unseemly for women. Laudlum was tincture of opium (opium and alcohol ) Drs were quite liberal when prescribing laudlum, and in some towns you could buy it over the counterr.

Ah, dating in the mid 18th century.
Saddle your steed, pick up your paramour. Take her to the local watering hole for a fare of beans, bacon, eggs and coffee. Then take in a living picture show. Then finish the evening with a sunset picnic, while taking in the local hangings.
Simply marvellous!

Even though you say it is considered a 9. 5 on the Richter scale. Consider that these were the only jobs that were good enough for these great minds. But you probably have( not good enough) that's how I think about it. I don't like terminology, I think it could have been said better

My grandfather attended the last public hanging in Claiborne, Parish Louisiana in the 1920's and said after seeing the prisoner hanging by just a piece of skin and the body almost decapitated it proved to him that breaking the law was not worth it and he became a deputy sheriff.

Would love to see a video on passing. Black Americans who were able to pass for White Americans.
The number of White Americans who have no idea they have one drop of African blood - which would have made them Black according to Jim Crow.
