The early 90s were the better half of the 90s, imo, with 1994 being peak 90s. It seemed that by 96 or so, music had started to suck again and popular culture generally had lost momentum. At the tail end of the decade there was a market crash, then 9/11, then the Iraq Invasion and jobless recovery which went on until the 2008 housing bust. To me, it seemed like the post war consumer culture really ended around the mid 90s, although a lot of people would probably date the end as 2001. In any case, it was all downhill from there. In 1994, I was 15. At the time, we just thought things were going to keep getting cooler. Oh well.

I was 14/15 that year and I remember most of this stuff very vividly. It's hard to believe how long ago it was. I got my first drum set for Xmas that year, which changed my life forever. I was also big into BBSes, which helped me as a mildly autistic teen communicate with people on a level I had never really been able to physically, and that helped me grow immensely. In many ways, 1994 was the year I became my own person, and despite the fact that it was a pretty boring time in the suburbs, I look back with a lot of fondness.

Nixon may have ended the Vietnam War but he prolonged it by more than a million senseless deaths when he committed treason by sabotaging the 1968 Paris Peace talks. LBJ used the word 'traitor' to describe Nixon when he learned of what had happened and told the Republican Senate majority leader just days before the election. As his final act of incompetence, LBJ declined to inform the American people of Nixon's treason and allowed the election to proceed as normal. Nixon won and the Vietnam War was prolonged for seven years.

Back then bad language in albums really sold them. I remember ALL kids, being so NON desensitized to smut and cussing and violence, back then that if someone said the f word we would fly off the handle and thought it was SO cool. We would buy albums JUST because they talked about something controversial or said one cuss word. Lol
Also subject matter and things that were DIFFERENT hit home with most of us also. Beck definitely was different and cool. So great recipe for our innocent minds at the time.

Arguably the greatest year for cinema: Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Lion King, Leon: The Professional, Natural Born Killers, Ed Wood, Speed, True Lies, The Crow, Interview with the Vampire, Drunken Master 2, The Mask, Stargate, Legends of the Fall, Heavenly Creatures, Fist of Legend, Clear and Present Danger, Maverick, Clerks, Dumb & Dumber, etc.
0: 19 BTW, The Usual Suspects came out in 1995.

I always thought Jordan's baseball outing to be one of the coolest events undertaken by a celebrity. As someone who grew up playing and loving the game from childhood through high school, it was honestly a bit inspiring to see Michael having a go at it. It might possibly be the only time that we ever witness someone attempting an MLB career, not for fame or wealth, but instead, for love of the game.

I still don't understand why the LAPD didn't overwhelm the slow moving white Bronco. OH yeah I do. Narrative. control the narrative. Had they arrested him at that time he would have gone to prison for life. Make a narrative of silly crap and the world has a disassociative situation. These people are sick. Do YOU a favor. Don't watch the NEWS.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series! So well done! My only critique would be the deaths that are noted should Be reserved for those that were sudden and unexpected. Like Kurt Cobain was one of those where were you? Kind of surprising passings vs an 87 year old that had been out of the limelight for decades.
Fantastic series!

Woodstock '94 was so amazing to me. I remember watching MTV constantly all 3 days as I was too young to go, but my most cherished memories of watching it was seeing James playing a perfect version of Laid and my introduction to Nine Inch Nails.
I still watch their performance of Head Like A Hole every year or 2.

I was born in 1994 and even if I knew most of this events took place during the 90s decade, I didn't know that most of those I consider shocking, happened in '94. Plus, I had no idea that gay marriage and even adoption, abortion and peace activism were things back in the days. Ok now I officially feel 'old'.

I think this is a great video but I'm surprised Rap events like the Hit Factory made it into the video, but albums like Illmatic (often cited as the greatest rap album of all time) didn't get mentioned. As well as Ready to Die which was a massive and highly rated rap album.

I wish you'd do the research and actually tell the TRUE stories of all these political operations through the decades. Almost every single one you've just went along with the official reports when I'm actuality none of those is true whatsoever.

I started high school, confronted my step mother and biological father and started a life long addiction to legos. I forgot that was the year John candy passed. I was riding with my step dad to work with him and he told me and it ruined my day

I only remember some of this. I was partying hard at age 19 during this whole year. Still a great year for me. But the Rwandan genocide, though i didnt know of it at the time, was absolutely horrific.

In 1994, as a very Jr Air Force Officer, I was in the room when the Bosnian/Serbian truce was signed in Dayton, OH. I stood this close to the US Joint Chief of Staff as he entered the room!

I wasnt a person pushing for the snyder cut but its great. Its a story that is walking into flashpoint and a crisis. It would have worked with a new dceu if it was able to finish its story.
