The 70s were about the best time to grow up. I also know the 60s were pretty good also and allot of changes happen there. I looked forward to turning 13 back in 1967. I could be a big shot teenager. I got my drivers license in early 1971 and everything seemed to take off through those glorious 70s. I felt like I lived a whole lifetime in those next 10 years. I hitch hiked from coast to coast and from Florida to Canada. The party dope was even better back then too. I know I did enough to drop an Elephant and maybe a Horse or two. Cars were hot and the ladies were fast. Rock & Roll was at it's tops and I played lead guitar in a popular hometown band. I built and raced Mustangs. I also learned a trade in floor covering, tile, carpet, vinyl, hardwood. I developed my own business into total kitchen and bath remodeling and made a good living. I screwed up allot here and there, but I had one hell of a good time growing up in the 70s. The opportunities through the 70s seemed endless. Not at all like today. I would give my I teeth and left arm to go back to the 70s.

6: 25 I gues it's too bad that states get to interpret and implement laws as they see fit. In Colorado, for example, you surrender this right simply by getting a driver's license. They are called the stop and identify laws. If you get pulled over you MUST show ID if requested, even if no probable cause has been given. If you want to drive a car in this state, you give up the 4th Amendment automatically for when you are in a vehicle. This means you can be pulled over for nothing, searched for ID, then given some BS reason and let go. That's how they check for license here.

Descent series of the years except the incessant news to include one sport - boxing- which is almost never relevant. That and the need to shoehorn other meaningless factoids into a year of the Type: person x that will be relevant 5-25 years from now was born/ organized. If it wasnt in the news in year x, it doesnt belong in year x. Was there really so little to draw upon for most years that the pointless boxing matches and non one cared y person/ Organization was born filler?

Just to play devils advocate. what if Mean Joe Greene had turned after finishing the coke and when he said hey kid, and junior peewee looked. he beaned him with the bottle, then looked at the camera and said. what? , my name IS Mean Joe Greene.
Then he shows the coke smile and walks away. The end. .
I'm 53 and remember that commercial and always thought it was very sappy.

I love this series so much, as someone born in the latter part of the 70's, you taught me so much. I'd love to see this series for at least a dozen more decades. I would love to see your take on the 60's, and 50's in this format, but frankly, you could cover 1420-30 and I'd still love it.

My little town, an hour north of Harrisburg, grew when the TMI event occurred. If that had blown, an hour wouldn't have saved anyone. My brother and a friend built their own version of the General Lee. They sold it when it got too expensive to maintain.

How come there is no mention of the execution of John Spenkelink in May 1979? He was a well known criminal. Lots of people tried to get his execution stopped, including famous actors. John was executed in the electric chair in Florida, May 1979.

Sadly, everything after about 1987, is completely stale, compared to American history, up until 1986ish. Doesn't matter now, because America is over, mainly due to our highest paid Federal employee in history.
