If you've heard of General Hannibal (247-183 BCE, you're probably thinking of the guy who rode several elephants into Italy, and that would be correct. In reality, though, there's more to Hannibal Barca's life story than his fabled crossing of the Alps with war elephants. This general made it a habit of outright embarrassing the Roman Army, defeating them by a landslide on multiple occasions. It wasn't until Rome drew upon the skills of another name from the list of notable generalsScipio Aemilianus Africanus (AKA Scipio Africanus the Younger)that they were finally able to defeat Hannibal

Hannibal wasn't scared of anything. His father made him swear to be an enemy of rome on blood for the rest of his life, he marched a whole army to Italy through the alpes which he lost nearly half of, He stayed in their Land for 14 years never lost a Battle to them with a single army and without any reinforcements from Carthage other than The galic tribes nor supplies from his country living of the land, he won major victories against them, Even once they encircled him in a valley he marched through the darkness of night while making them chase Fire attached to horns of cattle and then later Ambushed the Roman detachment sent to ambush him, He ambushed a whole roman army at trasimane which till this day remains the biggest and most successful ambush in the history of warfare, He won an unbelievable Victory at cannea outnumbered till the last moments of the battle, Fighting in the front with his men with one eye which resulted in the greatest Loss of humane life in a single day through the history of battles and warfare, He is the General that is more intimidating and Greater then even some kings Napoleon really considered him one of the best tacticians and he truly was, he made the rommans live in fear for 14 years, he didn't need the Great or The Conqueror added to his name, His name was enough to make anyone have chills Hannibal Barca, yet he is Super underrated

Facts you're not going to learn here either: Hannibal was of African descent, as were many Carthaginians and most Numidians. He is not depicted anywhere in this video. This whitewashing is the main reason his story isn't taught usually and when it is, it's done the same injustice as in this video. BTW, look up the accomplishments of Toussaint L' Ouveture, likely wasn't taught about him in school either or his story was intentionally diminished.

Its a certain be5 that those scheming members of Carthage nobility that attempted to eliminate Hannibal by sharing with Rome Hannibals attack plans lived to rue the day, with Rome annihilating Carthage, killing all of the leaders, and reducing the city of Carthage to burning cinders. Legend has it that Roman soldiers ground salt into the earth after Carthages destruction to prevent anything from growing there.

So many replies say they never heard of Hannibal, it has been proven over and over again he was Black, now do you wonder why they were not taught this part of history, still considered to be the greatest military general of all time and his tactics are still taught today in American military schools, i know, look it up.

. Rode elephants into ITALY? That's an interesting and unique take I've never heard before. Did not realise Hannibal was a time traveler.
Rome is not Italy. Italians do not = Romans. Romans nearly wiped out the italians. They were a tiny tribe that did not thrive until AFTER the fall of Rome.

The most important fact that you left out was Hannibal was African aka black. History loves to lie about this. Older Italian generations still have a prejudice till this day against blacks because of stories passed down through generations about Hannibal and his army invading Italy.

I dont know if you have any control over this, but man those 4 minute long ads are awful. I like waiting your videos as I fall asleep but its tough to do when I have to roll over every couple of minutes just to skip an ad (I know, first world problems)

Fun fact about Hannibal. He was so feared by the Romans that they had the sentence Hannibal ad portas! meaning Hannibal is at the ports to let the children fear if they didnt listened to their parents
reply

A leader that was liked by his men, kind to animals, did away with corruption, was good to the common people, and a military genius!
Seems history will never see the likes of Hannibal again.

Hannibal roughly had a 10: 1 KD ratio against the Romans. Probably could have finished the Romans off he specd into an apache gunner instead of poisonous snakes in pots for his kill streak reward.

Anyone interested in Hannibal and the Punic Wars should listen to Dan Carlins Hardcore History show, the three episodes titled Punic Nightmares. Absolutely fascinating & thrilling history!

I really enjoy your videos, I would like you to do a video of the history of codnor castle in Nottingham I live right next to the castle there is not much left remaining of it. Thank you

Hannibal was a black lol they always take history and twist it and make it theirs. Canaanites were blood brothers of the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Nubians, Sudanese and other Africans.
reply

You could have included that he lost one of his eyes to infection, and that only one of his elephants made it over the Alps, which he rode at the Battle of Lake Trasimene.
reply

Nebuchadnezzar II please. I also found a new research that suggests he might not have built the Hanging Gardens Of Babylon. Hope you can include that as well

Fact about Hannibal you didn't learn in school. oh Hannibal was black this is history most people don't know, and still they will not teach real history.
reply

Too many idiots in the comment section believe Hannibal was black and never read any of the ancient sources and state where he came from. Modern day Lebanon

were hannibals war elephants african or indian? Also remember that Baal was part of the whole Caananite child sacrifice messed up mumbo jumbo, ie Molock
reply

His embarrassing failure to initially cross the Alps with kangaroos has been stricken from history. For his second attempt, he used elephants.
reply

His Father swore in the hideous temple of Baal? That means he participated in terrible human child sacrifices! Hate that nasty demon!
