I believe it is important to respect the autonomy of the parents to share their culture with their children, however; the reality is that anyone that stays there will ultimately limit their ability to experience the rest of what the world has to offer. Although there are a lot of pitfalls you will avoid by living in such extreme isolation, I can understand that at least some of the younger residents would be willing to take that risk for the potential benefits of accessing urban environments.

The climate change part is quite amusing. The rest of the world might be suffering with hotter summers but in my country it's done the absolute opposite. The fact we are the driest continent after Antarctica & the hottest country on the planet yet this is our 3rd summer where temps have dropped considerately, so much in fact we're all still walking around in our winter clothes as temps are only getting as high as 25 Celcius which to us Aussie's is our winter temps during the day time.

Interesting, when I ws in the Air Force I was stationed at Tin City AFS Alaska which is only about 35 miles east of Little Diomedes. Tin City AFS was known for having the worst weather in the world. The most snow, sleet, hail, and so forth. When I was there it had a heat spell where the temperature went up to 61 degrees, and that lasted only one day. The very next day you couldn't go outside it was so cold.

There is no climate change and temps are not rising in Diomede. Over-fishing by China has cut down on the sealife and the move from subsistence to a dependence on imported food has dropped the hunting skill of the few people who remain. They also aren't going to cooperate with researchers which means researchers will collect invalid data (that is - they will make stuff up to match their libtard agenda)

The people on this island (& really everyone else) should try EarthBreeze laundry detergent.
It's dehydrated so it weighs very little and is sent through the mail.
I live in the lower 48 and use this detergent exclusively. Not only does it clean my clothes wonderfully, each purchase helps to reduce plastic waste while helping nonprofits.

You see what scientists and other people. Like those making this documentary. Failed to understand. That if you want to pull at the heartstrings of Americans. You must talk in inches feet, miles and fahrenheit. Because the metric system just falls on deaf ears. Now you know. That is all.

Reminds me of an island called Port Cairns in the South Atlantic, known as the most isolated place in the world. Technically British, but it's basically a small population of people who live on an oslamd that is the hardest place in the world to get to.

I kind of think unemployment is relative in some cases. If you are native and/or living off the land -- that is your employment. So, I didn't really understand the point of this section of the video. Employment is a capitalistic concept in this way.

Oh no, 80 people are affected by the changing climate on and around a barren rock. Guess everyone else in the world needs to buy an electric car and not use a heater in winter. Just so long as these people can continue to eat. polar bears.

To think that these people were probably perfectly happy, successful, and self sustaining before we came along. As much as I am a pretty right guy, it doesn't seem right to mess up a good thing.

I think that your writers are getting carried away with zany afterthoughts and one-liners. Especially the cringe boomer references. Stop it. Stick to history. You suck at comedy writing.

Too much ad and climate change alarmism. Until you can quantify how much human activity is directly impacting it (nobody can and EVERY climate model has been wrong) keep it out of your videos

Global warming means more opportunities for boats to bring supplies. Since boats can carry more weight than aircraft that means more supplies. More supply & same demand = lower prices.

Had no idea about this until now, I feel sorry for native northern peoples that are stuck between great geopolitical powers. There should be given free passage travel and fishing rights.

Could I live on Diomede? No. I live in Washington State, plan on moving and retiring to Alaska, soon but I'll live inland surrounded by the mountains. The sea is not for me.

My grandmother is from Little Diomede. My father was born in Nome in 1947, she had to relocate there in '45 due to the Ice curtain. It be great to visit one day.
