On a Scottish history timeline, you can see how the English have used, abused, and downright insulted Scotland. Slurs, jokes, and awful stereotypes aside, the English were responsible for the most horrible atrocities committed in Scotland. The 18th-century Battle of Culloden and its aftermath were particularly difficult for the beautiful, culturally rich country, but mistreatment didn't start or stop there. Scottish history facts are full of examples of disputes and hardships, many of which may make you sympathize with England's northern neighbor.

Laughable inaccurate. I can only assume it is meant for an American audience?
First conflict between England and Scotland? Battle of the Standard, where Scotland attempted to snatch a piece of England whilst the latter was in a civil war.
Queen Mary? Chased out of her own country by Protestant nobles and probably safer in Fotheringhay Castle than anywhere else.
Act of a Union a hostile takeover? Scotland had bankrupted itself trying to establish a colony on the Isthmus of Darien. England paid that debt off in exchange for stationing troops in Scotland preventing France using it as a staging post for an invasion. So mutually beneficial.
Culloden had more Scots Lowland even Highland fighting on the British side. It was a religious struggle, with the Catholics of the Highlands and in the 15 rebellion, Northern English Catholic s against the Protestant George s.
If this is the best research you can manage, just give right up.

It should be noted that by the time of the Battle of Culloden, Scotland and England were already one country so it was more of a civil war rather than an invasion. Also, despite what the video claims, some in Scotland remain loyal to the Hanover Dynasty rather than support the Jacobites for their own reasons (eg. Some Catholic highland clans realize it might be best for their clan if they support the current ruling family or suffer the consequences for siding with the rebels or join one side to get back against another clan that joined the other side. Even the UK's Black Watch Regiment was formed by Scottish Highland clans who joined the side of the British government and help defeat the other clans that joined the Jacobites. Furthermore, when the British government perform the Highland Clearance, many of the Jacobite supporter lands were given to loyal Scottish nobles and not English nobles according to myth.

The ignorance and arrogance of elites is overwhelming. The English leadership took everything that organized Scottish society. No legal rule, no clans, no land no way to make money and no clothes. You left out language Celt was outlawed. So thousands wandering the land insane makes perfect sense. How do you function striped of all organizing principles without even work as a slave in a factory as an option? There was no thought given to replace identity. The textile factories were hundreds of years away. Sounds like they didn't even assign people to some Lords land to be serfs. Zero organizing. No wonder they lost their center. When laws are brutal and insane one does become and outlaw.

Oh dear. Firstly, nobody should be feeding into an SNP style chip on the shoulder. Much of the Scottish problem was self-inflicted. For reasons best known to themselves, their Kings developed a habit of allying with France, even when they had no quarrel with England. This tended to attract the wrath of the Plantagenets and you really did not want to piss of Edward I or III. Oh and there were only about 500 Englishmen at Culloden. The vast majority were Lowland Scots (who hated Highlanders.

What about Ireland? The terrible treatment going way back but, specifically during the potato famine was obscene. Of course the mistreatment of catholics goes back to England's establishing Protestantism as the national religion of England. To this day England's presence in Northern Ireland is terrible the way they treat Catholics with such prejudice & open arrogance. It's typical of England's imperialism. Many countries suffered, including India.

2: 15 Jim Pillen, before he became governor of Nebraska, had a presentation at the community center of my hometown as part of his campaign.
While my mother was talking to him, I asked his wife why it was illegal to live in castles. She said she would think about it.
Note: It has been said that the reason it is illegal to live in castles in the United States is because of fear of taking on aristocratic traditions.

Question: When facing the invading forces and found them unbeatable on your own soils, why don't go to their soils, do some massacres, capture the capital and hold it as a hostage to force the invaders to leave your home?
What I am saying here is that the Scots should take the fight to London, capture it and hold it as a hostage to force the English government to negotiate on their terms.

If only someone on the creative staff would read this: The Phoenix of Leith was a transport ship that carried undesirables from Edinburgh to Jamestown in 1666 to be indentured servants. Kidnapped children of the streets were also part of this group. Please do one about the red legs and other Barbadosed Scots and Irish.

None of us lived in the these times and we have no right to judge the peoples of those times but I have to say I'm getting tired of this English bashing from around the world on how our ancestors methods of civilizing the world and forced savages to comply with progress when there are two sides to every story

Was Scotland one of the last holdouts of the Tartaian people? If so that could be why the english were so relentless in their pursuit's of the Scot's to make sure that the Tartarian history was finally buried, well except for the vatican library, hmm (lie-bury) like lie then bury the truth with books of lies?

I'm good friends with a Scot. We take the piss out of each other constantly. This shit is water under the bridge. Britain needs unity now more than ever. Our borders are non existent. I wonder how things are gonna change over the next 50 years. Birth rates for natives are terrible.

8: 00 I am curious how executions became a form of public drama and entertainment.
I remember reading about some event in France (the French Revolution) where executions were scheduled in a way that each one could be more easily viewed by the public for a daily event.

6: 07 In 2002, there was the Tri-State Crematory scandal.
At a crematorium, the owner's incinerator broke down and he was storing the dead bodies in a shed (unbeknownst to the public.
He was giving the families wood ashes in place of those of the bodies.

2: 39 This is why its important if ur'e a dying king with no heir GET A WOMEN PREGNANT ASAP! Of course this woulldn't work if u're 20 off to war and die in battle but still. Personally if I were King at 14 my first task would be to get an heir ASAP.

5: 56 From the Weird History video Surprising Origins of Popular Traditions, I remember that there is a difference between coffins and caskets, and that caskets were used during the American civil war to beautify death.

Shirley Manson, the lead singer of Garbage (one of my favorite bands) is from Scotland.
I read somewhere that she was a guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (who is also from Scotland) six times.
