Both these cases always stuck with me because I was around the same age during the same time period and there was a woman who used to babysit me that was in her late 30s/early 40s at that point. We would coincidentally run into each other a few times and she would always tell me how handsome I became and would invite me over to her house to read books with her like we used to when I was a little kid. I never reciprocated because I figured she was just trying to be nice.
It was only after I grew older that I caught onto how weird that sounded and realized I was most likely being groomed. I also wonder if our run-ins with each other were coincidental or intentional on her part.

I don't think what Vili felt for Mary Kay was real love. It's not out of the ordinary for a kid to have a crush or be in love with their teacher because aside from their parents, teachers are often the adult figure they see the most and look up to. And kids don't have a full grasp of feelings yet so I think these crushes on teachers are often nothing more than innocent admiration. Especially in Vili's case, he came from a neglectful broken home, his teacher was probably the first adult to show him care and affection so naturally, he latched on to that and saw that as true love. Mary Kay as the teacher and adult should've drawn the line and kept the relationship as strictly teacher/student.

1: 04 I mean I remember in my HS about 15 years ago when I was in grade 9 there was a teacher that many of the religious community (teacher was an outspoken atheist) had problems with including myself. That year she was mysteriously disappeared and the Official line was that she had moved schools to be the head of the drama dept at another school but rumours abounded that she had been fired for improper conduct regarding religious freedom (for example purposely lowering grades of students who were religious)

Villi now has a baby named with another woman (closer to his age) and one of the girls he had with mary K now has a baby of her own. I think he's working as a tattoo artist or a Dj in the seattle area, can't remember now. In july of 2020, villi and mary k did formally divorce, but they remained close and she died of breast cancer with him by her side. He and the two daughters are very close- speaking almost daily and seeing each other weekly (according to what they told local news station recently) so.

What I think is funny the people around her think this is OK, if this had been her husband with a 12 year old girl his life would be over, no movies or book deals, if a man had gotten a 12 year old pregnant twice before she was 14 he would be dead cause the guys in prison would have killed him, but the whole world seems to be OK that it was a 35 year old woman getting pregnant from a 12 year old boy, and she has 6 kids to pass on her way of thinking

thanks for straight up calling this abuse instead of tiptoeing around it of trying to couch it in more pleasant terms. she was a disturbed woman who essentially stole a child's life. as a kid myself when this happened, I used to think it was weird but not that bad, that they should have just left these two alone. as an adult I cannot fathom looking at a child and thinking this is the love of my life.

A female teacher at my daughter's middle school 7 years ago got busted sending inappropriate photos to a male student. She sent several over a few months. She went to prison for 2 years, and has to register as an offender for life. She was married and had been a past major beauty pageant winner. She was well liked before that. Crazy to throw it all away to act on your pedo urges.

I am from Moxie Washington and have lived in Washington all my life and never heard of the town with this takes place. I also wasn’t familiar with the case but I was a toddler when it happened so definitely didn’t hear about it at the time. I do, remember, though at my Elementary school in 2004 there was a similar case. I don’t know how widely publicized it was though.

I WENT TO THE SAME ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AT THE SAME TIME WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I was in the same grade as Buddha but I had a different teacher. I also ended up going to his same high school. At the time, I don’t think anyone could have imagined how crazy and explosive this case would become. It definitely changed the way we all viewed at that teacher/ student dynamic.

Mary Kay's father was also a hypocritical pervert. A world like this and we wonder why so many celebrities get away with being deviants. A lot of people support predators. Whether they're running for president, and Congress, a religious leader, or can sing a song, as long as you have something people like, they will ignore your predatory behaviors.

If I was 12 years old and a cute teacher seduced me, not only would I not consider it abuse, I would be through the moon. Their relationship did survive her time in prison and their marriage lasted 12 years, about as long as many marriages do now days. I really don't think this whole affair is quite as scandalous as people make it out to be.

The only thing worse than this scandal was the reaction. Apparently it's okay is the pdo is a woman, especially a passingly attractive one, cuz there were so many man, I wish I had a teacher like that responses. As others said, if MK had been a guy, the reactions would have been different and more appropriate.

Two things. 1. If my teacher threw her legs open to me, no way my little horny adolescent mind would have told anyone. But as a responsible adult I hate that she did that. 2. If it was a male teacher with a twelve year old female, and she was impregnated by him, they would have put him under the penitentiary.

The mind boggles when adults have these sort of relationships. Mental health issues aside that contributes to their delusion, it's not love the way they see it. It's abuse of power and taking advantage of a young person in their care.

I remember hearing about this story. I am not quick to judge though because people in general manage to get themselves in trouble. I will say she was the adult and of course this is abuse, even if he did not see it that way.

If she were a male teacher she would have never gotten a deal. It’s crazy how female teachers get away with this all the time. It’s disgusting that the public endorsed the wedding and she made money off a documentary

As I recall Steve L. had an affair with someone younger and refused to give her up. I guess Mary Kay needed to assuage her aging self with someone way younger. But two people who made some poor choices. RIP Mary Kay.
