In Italy it happened something quite opposite to the Ashley Simpson’s story.
Back in the 90s, There was for a popular Italian musical show called Festivalbar. The singers were asked to lip sing, even the band was not play. All in playback. One famous rock-satirical band, Elio e le storie tese, decided to make fun of the situation. In the middle of the song, they just stop pretending to sing. all the members of the band remained completely immobile, for like 30 seconds, while the playback was going. This was basically a form of protest, the result was hilarious. One of the best moments of Italian tv.

3: 30 One time a big dog attacked my friend's dog (the sister of my friend that is a dog trainer) and was tearing his ear at a dog park.
Since everyone was staring in disbelief and doing nothing (and my friend was screaming) I went over and punched the dog in the face.
The dog immediately ran away (and was not hurt.
The phenomena of everyone watching and doing nothing is called The Bystander Effect, they were all hoping someone would act so they wouldn't have to.
The Kitty Genovese case is a great example of that.

Natalia and her husband weren't only dropped from the show, they were run out of the country Locals yelled at them in the street, people even spat on the ground when they went passed. They lasted a couple of days and fled when they realized an entire nation hated them. It's impossible to get away with such poor behavior in a country with only 6 million people, especially if you're a guest here.

St. Louisan here - Cardinals baseball announcer Harry Carey was caught in a rather compromising situation at a restaurant here with one of the Anheuser Busch wives. AB was owner of the Cards. AB chose not to renew Harry's sportscasting contract and was subsequently let go. He then moved to Chicago and became the announcer for the Cubs. He as persona non grata in St. Louis.

The Ashley Simpson one is crazy. Because everyone on SNL lip syncs. Michelle Philips of the Mama's and Papas famously eat a banana during their SNL performance. She was mad they forced them to lip sync and she wanted to expose it. The fact that the exposed Ashley like that, almost seems like it was intentionally done.

Ashlee Simpson is actually a great singer. I remember like 4 or 5 years ago I saw her perform the musical Chicago live at the Hollywood Bowl. She played Roxy and she was KILLING that performance. Plus she released 2 more albums after her 1st album Autobiography. So I wouldn’t say her career was ruined, per se.

2: 10 SNL should ask for Ashlee Simpson to come back and be the host for a Hoedown Episode.
She could pretend to get busted for lip-synching Autobiography at the beginning, host the episode, then sing the song at the end.
If that was well-executed I am 100% confident that would work.

Everyone keeps bringing up Milli Vanilli not making the list, and you're not wrong, but have some decorum. One of the guys unalived himself because of the fallout from what happened. It would've been beyond classless to put them on the list, and I think Ashlee Vanilli is tacky af.

So many singers use that in the present day. Think a singer is pitch perfect every night of a tour, think again. Everyone has good days and bad ones. On those bad ones, a singer will just tell the tour manager to use the backing track.

Let's be real, the whole Ashlee Simpson thing was a favor for her. Her manager/father was completely inept, creepy AF, and she was a slightly better artist than her sister which isn't saying much.

Ashlee's Simpson's explanation was not lighthearted, she tried to throw her band under the bus, which probably did a lot more damage to her reputation than the actual incident.
