I do believe the Mendez Brother’s were abused and ultimately lived a way of life that they chose not to walk away from, but they would have not been capable of maintaining it because they were spoiled to the core.
The power of money is what I believe gave them the motivation to remove their parents from the equation as they admitted that they couldn’t escape them and treated them as a barrier between them and freedom which would’ve included their fortune.
They were delusional thinking they were entitled to money and affluent lifestyle instead of just getting away from their abusive parents; they were so afraid of being blocked from the money. I’m not saying it would have been easy to do, but they always took the easy way out or were given the easy way out in their situations to avoid accountability until they were brought to justice.
Had they got away with it, I firmly believe they would’ve squandered their fortune and would’ve ended up in and out of prison regardless. I’m fairly certain it would’ve been related to crimes tied to financial fraud as they would have been desperate for cash, but obviously, with what they’re capable of, I could even see armed robbery being their choice of crime too.
These guys were failures and were clinging on to money instead of getting help for their abuse which was somehow too difficult for them but taking out their own parents wasn’t.

Maybe both motives are true. Its entirely possible that the boys were abused and developed PTSD and other mental health issues because of this and that at 18 & 20 they went on ill advised spending sprees after their parents' deaths. that maybe part of the motivation was money. The parents were motivated by money, so it makes sense that the children might be as well. As someone who was abused in similar ways as a child, I did some pretty messed up things while lashing out. I didn't kill my parents or assault them, nor do I condone that. but I can see how it warps the child's perceptions enough that this could happen, especially in the years when hormonal levels are so intense and fluctuate rapidly. PTSD is rough at that age. Well, at any age really. But at that age, your brain and body are still forming and those kinds of experiences have long-lasting effects. A perfect storm, as it's said. If it's true they were abused, I think they've done enough time.

When it says don't believe what newspapers say it must be pointed out that the newspapers reported what the police believed. Newspapers can make mistakes while a story is developing, and, they can truthfully report institutions/someone's mistakes - you can't expect them to read minds, see the future, or know evidence that the police missed.
There's a vast difference between that and lying, which is what most people understand when hearing don't believe what newspapers say - so they go and believe whatever some faceless account on social networks say, without sources.

Jeez, killed their parents and then played Milli Vanilli at the funeral Beyond strange. The fact the mother straight up emasculated the dad by ripping his toupee off his head cause he was cheating on her, probably making her feel worthless I mean, they obviously didn’t deserve to die. but they did raise those kids, at least rubbed off their shallowness onto em and it was both that thought it’d be a good idea. Rich families always have an American Psycho type, their family just happened to have around 4ish.

. as we wake up to the realities of generational abuses, the lengths a traumatized victim will go to in order to eradicate the abuser is not surprising. I believe these two killed their parents, I believe they went on a spending spree out of shock for what transpired and I believe they will be freed, make money and ultimately maybe save future victims by their notoriety.

I can’t watch Netflix presentations of murderers/serial killers. Can’t trust them not to romanticize them, sugarcoat them or just outright get shit wrong
