What If We Lost The Moon?

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
This giant rock lights up the night and can even change colors. So what would we do without it? Would we all need night vision goggles? How would it affect the ocean tides? Our seasons? Or our sleep cycles? Or would the consequences be far more drastic? As the closest celestial body to our planet, the moon exerts a gravitational pull that governs much of what happens here on Earth Take the sea, for example. If you like surfing, you can thank the moon when the moon-s gravitational pull tugs on our spinning Earth, the oceans respond, giving us high tides in some parts of the world, and low tides elsewhere

You know, people talk about that fact that the moon is moving away from the earth at approx. 1. 5 inches each year and they talk about what if the earth lost the moon. IF that happened, id be LESS concerned with the moon simply disappearing and all the fish and animals slowly dyeing off. The fact is that it wouldn't simply go flying off into space somewhere, because the moon doesn't JUST orbit the Earth, it also orbits the Sun. So if the earth's gravitational influence on the moon was lessened or completely lost, the moon wouldn't just go flying off, it would instead continue to orbit the sun and its orbit around the earth would become more and more elliptical eventually either gaining a separate orbit around the sun of its own and possibly even smashing into the Earth. So id me more concerned with the moon being a threat to Earth and bashing into, destroying everything MUCH quicker then if it just flew off into the darkness of space. I mean it COULD potentially even gain an orbit around the sun large enough to smash into mars, ejecting massive amounts of debris into out solar system and creating MULTIPLE objects that could then smash into the Earth over and over again for an untold number of years to come, preventing the earth from EVER having life on it again. So yeah, be less concerned with the Earth -losing- the moon and more about the Earth getting a little closer then we would like to it.

I doubt very much that the earth would experience the worst ice ages known to man, the earth would spin faster and we would experience that much of bad winds cause think of it like this, this is how I think of it anyway, how can earth experience the worst ice ages known to
man if the moon is the celestial object that keeps earth cool like by giving us tides in other words water I think very much that earth would get much hotter as in warmer everywhere if the moon disappears cause that what keeps earth cool and the reason why I think that earth
wouldn-t spin 3-4 times faster is cause the moon is what keeps it spinning and so if that keeps it spinning then how can the earth spin on its own without the moon, and last I doubt that we would have 2 experience winds that fast cause don-t forget that moon what makes
earths tides and what are tides water and what does trees that give us air and oxygen need to make them move water, youknow, from underneath like the ground in their roots and it makes oxygen for us and that-s how it makes oxygen so you can-t say that we-ll experience winds that fast when we really wouldn-t have the much water anymore considering there-d be less tides, story over.

I think Venus would cool down a bit regardless, but probably not enough for liquid water to exist. But let-s say you move its orbit in a snap, it will take centuries for it to reach its new equilibrium, which I am guessing would be around the low 200s. The sulphuric acid-rich atmosphere will liquify under the weaker sunlight, slowly settling to the surface and stop acting as a greenhouse gas.
The higher atmospheric pressure might increase the boiling point of water just enough for water-based clouds to form though, but it probably won-t reach the ground if it ever falls as rain before it vapourise back to the atmosphere. And that-s only if we can get the water there in the first place, like if an ice comet smashes into Venus

How would we experience the worst ice ages known to man if the moon disappears lol the moon is what creates the cold and cool weather on earth lol so my guess and estimate is the sun would face us all the time it-d become warmer youknow as in hotter there be no night and if there was it-d probably more darker if there was no moon but yeah and the sun would scorch the seas and oceans

Mankind-s and other living organism-s entire existence on the earth falls in a tiny tiny sweet spot in the universe time, where every thing happens to be so balanced on this planet that it supports life. Our existence could be summed up in a snap, if we look upto the existence of the universe. But still our tiny story is a hell lot interesting.

I know because if I don-t want to move I literally don-t want to go because I had a scary nightmare and I did this to my door and open up and then when I stand normal and then fall down and I got so scared so I don-t want the mood because it-s weird but if I have good dreams I will I wanna have

wow I didn't know the had such a great effect on the earth I didn't know that it meant so much to the earth I just thought that if we lost the moon then our waves would dissepear and that's it maybe some of our marine life would disappear

fun fact: without the moon, earth would be a wobbling body, constantly being pushed and pulled by different planets and celestial bodies which would tremendously make the seasons and living conditions inhospitable for life.

As much as I watch these What If videos, I somehow admire -the creator- who's placed everything perfectly for lives on Earth. Without the Moon, Sun, friction, oxygen, water, bees, etc. We wouldnt have been here to watch What If

We should always a. k. a/also known as all the time a. k. a/also known as never a. k. a/also known as not forget to a. k. a/also known as abstain from a. k. a/also known abstain from keep or keeping the moon to us from as to most.

I saw it in my dream last night that some kind of an asteroid hits the moon and it shatters. Everyone starts coming out of their houses and running. So first thing i did in the morning is i came to this video

It makes you wonder if, during the Big Bang, if the moon never began orbiting earth, would we just be another inhabitable planet along with all the others in our system?
reply

I just came here to watch this video because i had a dream in which moon was destroyed by an asteroid that why I was curious what would happen if moon was destroyed
reply

loosing the moon wouldn't change anything until a few hundred decades we would be fine also Venus doesn't have a moon and it doesn't change the tilt on it at all
reply

How would the world spin 3to4 times faster than it does now if the moon means there-d be no rotation at all meaning if earths rotation is slowing down right now
reply

What if it blew away like from the old TV show space 1999. I was just watching some of them. what would happen to the planet if that happened

I actually saw a dream that we lost the moon and storms have arrived after that when I woke up I came here too see if it was true lol

NEWS: Earth cheated on the moon with mars and left! Now we have no moon!
Everything: oh no
The cameraman: Cope.

So no one has seen the moon in over a week, when exactly are all your predictions going to take place?
