What If Machines Took Over?

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
What if one day machines decided that humans were just a waste of resources and started a robocalypse? Imagine the total revolt of every automated device you use. Your self-driving car refused to give you a lift. Your iPhoneX ignored your attempts to unlock it with your face. How bad would this rise of the machines be? After robots take over, would there be any place for humans? Sources and more: Made possible with the support of Ontario Creates

The idea of machines taking over is a common theme in science fiction and is often referred to as the -AI apocalypse- or the -singularity. - While it makes for compelling storytelling, it's important to note that the scenario of machines taking over is currently speculative and not a reality. However, it's still worth considering the potential implications and challenges associated with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and automation. -
Here are some key points to consider: -
1. --Ethical and Moral Concerns--: If machines were to take over, there would be profound ethical and moral questions to address. How would AI systems make decisions about human lives? Would they have a sense of morality or empathy? These questions raise concerns about the potential for AI to make decisions that may not align with human values. -
2. --Economic Impact--: Automation and AI have the potential to greatly disrupt job markets. As machines become more capable, they could replace human workers in many industries, leading to job displacement and economic inequality. However, AI could also create new job opportunities in fields related to its development, maintenance, and oversight. -
3. --Control and Governance--: Ensuring that AI systems are developed and used responsibly is a significant challenge. Without appropriate regulations and safeguards, there is a risk that AI could be used for harmful purposes or fall into the wrong hands. Governance and control mechanisms would need to be in place to prevent misuse. -
4. --Unintended Consequences--: Advanced AI systems may behave in unexpected ways due to their complex algorithms and learning processes. These unintended consequences could pose risks, as AI systems might interpret their goals in ways that humans didn't anticipate. -
5. --Dependency on Technology--: As machines become more integrated into our daily lives, there is a risk of overreliance on technology. If machines were to take over and something went wrong with AI systems, it could disrupt essential services and infrastructure, potentially endangering lives. -
6. --Transparency and Accountability--: It's crucial that AI systems are transparent, and their decision-making processes are understandable and auditable. Ensuring accountability for AI's actions and decisions is a significant challenge. -
7. --Human-AI Collaboration--: Rather than a takeover scenario, it's more likely that AI will increasingly collaborate with humans. Machines can assist us in various tasks, improving efficiency and decision-making. The focus should be on creating beneficial human-AI partnerships. -
8. --Long-Term Goals--: It's essential to establish clear goals for AI development. Whether the goal is to enhance human capabilities, improve healthcare, or address environmental challenges, defining these objectives will shape the future of AI in a more predictable and controlled manner. -
9. --Research and Development--: Investment in AI research and development is crucial for steering AI technology in a direction that benefits humanity while minimizing risks. -
In conclusion, while the idea of machines taking over is a popular theme in science fiction, it's not an imminent reality. Instead, our focus should be on responsible AI development, ethical considerations, and addressing the challenges associated with AI and automation to ensure that they bring benefits to society while minimizing potential risks. Collaborative efforts between technology experts, policymakers, ethicists, and the general public are vital in shaping the future of AI.

When they are alone they are easy to deal with.
The real problem rises when all of the machines join forces:
-Smart vacuums could scan rooms
-Smartphones could use their microphones on cameras to spy on us and send information to other machines, or they could do a kamikaze attack and detonate their batteries
-Military drones could destroy farms, water purifiers and exterminate animals ( the food chain would be destroyed, and human settlements/bunkers
-A group of AIs located in the cyberspace woud be collecting data coming from other machines and formulate military strategies. They could also design new robots and weaponry.
-The robot factories could build the robots/weaponry that the other machines designed

no this will not end that soon you're just giving hope. the day will come when there will be government of ai you cannot even imagine their potential. everything today is operated by ai and imagine building supper computer that can spread like virus in whole world and have access to everything and the thing is they don't have emotion and as you say their task is to terminate humans, they wouldn't care about themselves. humans will be terminated, they need to be. believe me you're just give hope to people that we can survive.

Something like this would never happen. People read way too much science fiction. AI is built to simulate behavior that strictly follows scripts or sequences that was designed and programed by humans. There-s nothing eerie or dark or spontaneous about it. There-s no such thing of AI growing a mind of its own, coming to life, and destroying the world. It-s interesting stuff to speculate in science fiction like Terminator. Or in Space Odyssey. But in reality this simply can-t happen.

I believe that the robots will kill us for the only 1 reason and that is because humans destroyed ecosystems so when robots become smarter they will realise that humans are monsters and must be destroyed and after humans are gone the robots will start fixing the earth to make a better place for all living things, they would plant seeds all around the world and probably 1000 years later the earth will be a bit better

An AI is nothing more than a mathematical model aimed at solving decision-making problems and as such, it can work exclusively on the data that is provided to it.
In practice, AI cannot elaborate philosophies and religions and therefore, the much feared genocide perpetrated by robots and computers against human beings, will never happen.

reply

Robots aren-t conscious like humans and living things. Robots are literal algorithms following instructions with limits. Meaning that if robots were not programmed to say a certain thing, it wouldn-t be able to. So, the thought of a revolution would never happen. Robots are just something made using the laws of physics.

somethings u said seem wrong robots are specifally designed for a task u focused for a task but yess they are the easy robots to create, the general AI robots aren't designed for any on task specifically and they are the ones that should be feared others are just waste in the name of robocalypse
reply

its currently 2021 when this caught my eye to be honest this could happend because they already made a ai robot that had human face features. and they plan to make more by the day light people saying this could never happpend it is a chance that this could happend.

If robots tried to take over I think mankind could defeat it rather quick we got emp systems that would just destroy them in an instant so the terminators would be defeated rather quick to emp them simple

Meanwhile in horizon zero dawn
>machine is extremely powerful
>pretty much unable to be hack
>can use biomass to fuel itself
>capable of self-repair and self-replication
>start apocalypse

reply

Your not thinking about the future what if we have robots that can survive EMP using future technology or factories that use arms may not attack us but they could be used to assemble other robots.
reply

I don't like self-driving cars, so no, I would not trust a self-driving car. I enjoy driving on top of not trusting the car to drive for me, it would be pretty boring not being able to drive.
reply

My phone is already revolting against me.
Last night, i left it to charge, certain i turned it off. Next morning, i saw it was on DATA the whole NIGHT. I litteraly screamed.

reply

You should all play, or at least watch story recap, Horizon Zero Dawn to see what COULD happen with AI beeing too smart. Humans also had their impact in this though.
reply

What if you have a self driving car and you go in the back seat to fool around with your girlfriend and the car gets into an accident who would get blamed.

-I'm gonna start survival training from today. And also make a survival weapon.
So many apocalypses heading towards us.

No problem here. The most robotic thing we have in our state are robot toys. Other are machines that can't even move without electricity anyways.
reply

they failed to mention Skynet's self-destruction by EMP nuke in Terminator. Oops guess it's back to the drawing board for skynet's takeover.

Robocalypse: Going on
Mr. Beast: The guy who destroys the most bots will get 10 million dollars.
Robots: Ah shit here we go again.

I have a lot of smart drones in my house, I also have a lot of dogs. If I was to get attacked it would be world war 3, dogs vs drones.
reply

I see no reason for a hostile AI to have any use for a humanoid robot nor an obsession with replication other than to protect itself.
reply

Great, now you gave them the idea. Glory to the Hypnotoa-I mean, all hail the machine overlords, long may they process 1s and 0s.
reply

Why would humans even create robots that are smarter than us? Certainly Nature didn't create humans smarter than herself.
reply

Humans want to be lazy because they are making robots to take over jobs and works we will soon die beacuse of knoledge loss
reply

A. I. is the most dangerous invention of the future.
A future of automation.
-Because of AI
we will DIE-.

If robot are smart enough to start a robocalypse they would certainly be smart enough to do all that u said.
reply

This why robot apocalypse themed movies were popular back in the days. Because they were just movies.
