Bill Nye is spot on - it's about the money. I don't see anything we can do in space - except microgravity research and creating a backup for humanity - that can't be done more easily and cheaper on Earth. We aren't running out of resources, it's just not economically worthwhile to get stuff from deeper in the Earth or from the ocean (there's gigatons of every known element there) or to develop better alternatives, which is what we've been doing for millenia. I've wanted space travel since i was a kid in the 1950's, and watched our efforts wax and wane for decades. Everyone says -We should do this, - or -Someone should do that-. Except Elon Musk is doing it. Does someone think it would be better to put that much effort into space cities instead? Great! Do it! Except no one is. Certainly not me, haha! I've admired Bill Nye's knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm. And now his practicality. I think we could get everyone who wants to go off Earth, given enough time and incentive. Time is there, hopefully, but not incentive enough right now. Also, people focus on a big rock hitting us. How about multiple super volcanoes going off in one year? Nuclear war is also still a possibility. Or something we've just not thought of, because it hasn't happened yet - a black swan event. Climate change could hurt, but probably not an existential threat.

One thing I have always noticed that reasons why something can't be done is money. Money is paper( which is what we use to buy the things we need) but if you take money out of the equation, then things seem in better standing. Because what is more important than money? Man power is worth more than money, for instance, say you wanted to build a super space station so everyone on earth could survive, offer a apartment on the space station and a family size food allowance, and that's your pay then everyone would do it. Wait I saw that movie. They never evacuated Earth they moved Underground. To wait out the effects of the comet impact. O. o how would this thing be built? We at that point would have to stop worrying about the value of money and do it for free because there's no price on life. At that point you're just like you do it or we die so get rid of the concept of money when it comes to building the space station

If it was truly Noah ark then the skills I would have and the stuff I would trade to actually get in is to collect all the history of mankind and put them into like little crates like music CDs and everything that revolved around history and stuff and treated into the US government to actually get in but that's just my take

Someone else has surely said it already, but if this happened a chunk of humanity wouldn't accept a seat on the ship even if you gave it to them, because -asteroids are a hoax! -/-Muh right to stay on whatever planet I want! -. and the evolutionary effects of that might be the one silver lining to this scenario.

Well we have a chance but it will take maybe a couple years or more to build an evacuation ship but still we have a chance becuase the sun will fully expand after 7. 5 years and then we'll explode
