Elon Musk makes a good point. He says most people dont change their views, they just die. If we lived forever or even for centuries at a time, progress might stagnate because the individual is slow to change. We need new generations to stimulate new ideas. and for the older ones to die off in order for these new ideas to become the norm. Imagine for example if people from even 150 years ago were still alive and vital today. Many of them would still approve of slavery in the US or refuse to take a flight anywhere or even ride in an automobile. Now imagine us in another 150 years with our biases and views of how humanity should be. Maybe cloning oneself and raising that child would be what younger generations support instead of traditional marriages. How many of us would go along with that?

-If no one died- people Would only be limited to having one child per couple, by law (only if you're legally married. Or face execution if that law is broken. Execution would have to be mandatory. Wouldn't make sense to just throw someone in an overpopulated jail. That's how I see it. Or just start launching all law breakers into outer space. There would definitely not be a need for taking medication, (except for the happy time medication) if you know what I mean. -

We end up into the situation where we successful did genetic modification and won't die for natural causes and then the situation will be like there will be over populated through out the world and the rules passed by the government for having a baby will be like to get a new baby in your family one should die then oly we allow and give birth certificate how crazy it sounds so better we need to be dumb instead finding this ageing inventions -

Amazingly, overpopulation still exists making it another problem. Now, people give birth due to society making them think that the only meaning of family is 1 dad 1 mom and kids which is a problem. People only do that for their own needs ignoring other things which also includes damaging society while being praised by it and more. To know more, go read history (especially colonization.

We should really stop using the -people used to live 40-50 years-
That's a mean. Means are skewed if too many people are off of the norm. People used to easily be able to live to 70 years, however a lot of people died in war, from natural hazards, accidents or from starvation, not of bodily degeneration from deteriorating health.

If nobody ever died there would an an extra 109 billion people on earth, that was cause huge issues like traffic jams, over population, crowding, less breathing room in public, less food because most stores would be sold out, and much more life ruining issues, it-s much better if the 109 billion Deceased people just stay Deceased!

My opinion on that: on a genetic level (DNA) we are immortal (at least partly) anyway through reproduction and if immortality is feasible by e. g. crispr technology then it would make sense in case we civilize space, but that's probably not taking too much longer anyway. Otherwise immortality is ecological nonsense.

It's good that they want to stop death in humans and also bad because we have to make a choice and it's simple we have to stop having kids or you have to kill the old people off so the new people can come in hello there's a reason why humans die so the other humans can live the new ones.

Unsustainable, unrealistic. People have to die. You ARE going to die. Whether it be natural or another privileged human thinking you're one of the many taking up too much space. It's inevitable unless you find another rock to populate with as much ease. Accept your fate.

You know something? That would be cool if all humans live untill the end of the universe and 1 day before that. Everyone would've die so that noone have to float in the space for ever. coz if you cant die the ppl would've moved to other planets: )

Living forever i would NOT wanna see what that looks like unless. We Should invest in the Science of Anti-Aging ie -Age Reversal & Cellular Rejuvenation/Regeneration- the physical body is forever 18 for your whole life.

Good general info but too general. Especially considering ppl in the comments say they are using this in placement of paying attention in school - mortality rates differ drastically from country to country

You would have to add into the genetic coding to not be able to reproduce if humanity is at a certain number. If that is done, then overtime science could surely figure out how to solve the other problems: )

Aging is normal. Believe me, at 43 I'm already bored but thankful. I work with the elderly. They get very down and depressed. Besides. Why the hell do you want to live for so long?

I don't think I'd want to be old and frail for centuries. I will be ready to blow this big blue popsicle stand one my body cannot function well. Quality over quantity indeed.

We're further along than you realise: We've already solved immortality for mice - five years ago, in 2017.
Humans are different, but not significantly different.
