From curls to cornrows, beehives to bowl cuts, pigtails to dreadlocks, keeping our hair healthy is a necessity we all share. But if we didn't have any shampoo or conditioners at our disposal, what would happen to our scalps? If you're follicly challenged, well, kudos. This video may not apply to you. But the bald truth is, washing your hair may be more important than you think. What did people use to wash their hair before shampoo? Why could avoiding shampoo in the short term be healthy? What are the risks of poor hair hygiene?

I have a thick dry hair, and when i was younger i used to wash my hair pretty much everyday so because of that it was a nightmare to live with it since it was very very VEERY dry and unmanageable, however when i graduated high school and started buying my own things i began to spend money on avocado oils, coconut oils, and alot of after bath hair products, yeah they were all great and helped me with my dryness, but at the same time i started washing my hair only 3 times a week, tho it was still dry it was more manageable, one day i run out of shampoo lol, so instead of buying more i literally decide to not shampoo my hair and see where it goes, my hair is a LOT less dry, more manageable, silkier and a lot of good things, even if i want it to smell better i just apply a NYM hair dresser and that's it, if i ever get dirty like playing with my lil cousins or smthng i wash my head with shampoo that day (maybe once every 2 or 3 weeks) but i'm perfectly happy with this and it definitely worked out for me

Omg such lies. Shame on you for trying to fool people. Sebum is killing bacteria not letting it grow. Oil in ghe hair was used before by the rich ones, all other people washed it with water. They were all fine. And then shampo came and startet dandruff problems. And then they mayde a shampo that would cure it. Its not possible to cure it. It can calm it fown for a little while vut it will be back as soon as you change to another shampo.

I stopped using shampoo years ago, and only use natural soaps made of olive oil, daphne oil, donkey milk etc. They work like charm. I also like trying different soaps and this became a hobby for me, I have a small collection of lovely soaps now. I would recommend everyone. (not to people with long hair though as they need something liquid. a baby body wash shampoo usually works fine, it has less chemicals than regular shampoo)

Is this a shampoo and conditioner advert? Basically if you didn't shampoo or condition your hair for a year then I guess you would be washing it with soap when needed. Basically nothing would happen. If you're a woman I guess they would be affected more then men due to long hair but boys an men could easily get away with it. Using soap would be good enough.

I have thin hair. Like very thin hair. I don't shampoo often but it doesn't create any kind of problems in my Scalp/Hair. I can also style my hair easily and my hair doesn't come down to my forehead. Whenever I do shampoo I actually loose more hair than I do from showering with only cold water. So not shampoo'ing often is the way to go for me.

Balony. Washing once a week is more than needed. Human specie evolved without any of the corporate craps we have telling us we need to consume this and that. Its a business. Clean is good but very clean is not as healthy as you might think. I had hair loss and dandruff. thanks to brainwashing shampoos and doctors prescribing more crap.

No tried it for a month during quarantine. Good god the built up was horrible. It was so itchy i keep scratching my head and i notice little blood on my finger nails. My friend said its natural like, it will go away after a month. But no, she lives in canada which is way colder than here in tropical. Imagine the sweats on your scalp.

You don't have to use shampoo, you can just use water but you should still try to get something out of your hair. I never use shampoo, but use conditioner if my hair is legitimately dirty.
Shampoo does nothing but strip your oils away (your body makes more to compensate which is why people get greesy hair.

I only wash my hair with water shampoo and conditioner is a waste of money only water washes out all the dirt and everything and over time my hair adjusted and all the natural oils aren-t making my hair greasy but it-s more healthy and natural and I have no toxins in my hair

I shower every evening, but I haven't used any shampoo or soap or any other lathering agent on my hair for the past 10 years. I just wash my hair with warm water while showering. That's it. I've never had any issues. It looks great, smells great and feels great.

The no shampoo thing does not mean not washing your hair -at all-. You still run water through your hair when showering, and you still massage and -scrub- your scalp with your fingertips. Warm water rinses out most of the oil, and any dead skin from your scalp.

Everybody's different. But the comment section is an outrage. I wash everyday, and than take a day or two to wash again and soak my hair with argan oil or coconut oil and leave in overnight. The sight of dandruff as a child would make me cringe.

Egg shampoo is amazing. It is much better than it would appear from this video. It can also be customized a lot as you can choose to use the whole egg, yolk only, white only, in any combination + add ins.
I suggesr trying it at least once.

Alot of people actually known a woman who did this and she was addict, that's because she couldn't afford personal hygiene, and other basic essentials; her addictions cost her most of her money and she also lived in squalid conditions.

Twice a week shampooing for me. Nice smelling products and fluffing in between. People who say their unwashed hair has no smell. can't smell their own hair. It stinks. Use a light, mild shampoo. It's important to smell good.

I have a problem with dandruff and I mix shampoo in my hand with a little baking soda which helps to temporarily get rid of the dandruff. If I didn-t use the baking soda, my scalp would still look dandruffy after washing.

I feel like videos like this are mainly for white people. Because black people can actually go long periods of time without washing their hair and it will still maintain no smell and matted-ness.

I haven-t wash my hair for around 6 years and it-s almost exactly the same as when I used to. I think genetics is part of it, my sister in laws hair get knotted in a week whereas mine doesn-t.

Can you help?
I wash my hair 2 times a week and I still have the symptoms that you say happens my hair is very thin and ugly it itches alot it's dry thick and I lose hair daily

reply

I use shampoo every 2 weeks. I use conditioner mostly. if my hair feels too built up ill use shampoo. Honestly my type of hair shampoo stripes my hair and dries it out and it breaks off.

Haven-t watched my hair in a month and my scalp isn-t as dry and flakey as it was when I was washing my hair 4 times a week. All on the shelf shampoos are owned by three companies

I just washed my hair after 3 weeks, I had to brush it in the shower because it was so bad and it took an hour. Please look after your hair, even if you can-t be bothered
reply

Um. FUN FACT: after about a month of not washing your hair, it stops producing EXCESS grease because you are not constantly drying your hair and scalp out with soap. just FYI

The no poo method includes washing your hair. Just not with shampoo. Most of what hes saying is what might happen if you never washed your hair with anything, even water.
