What If We Nuked the Sun?

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Humanity-s nuclear arsenal is capable of destroying all life on Earth. Over. And over. And over. Maybe it's time we dumped it far away. We might want to inhabit other planets in the future, so how about our closest star? How many nukes could we throw at the Sun? What would be the price tag for this mission? And could we accidentally destroy our only source of daylight?

Actually, the only way to make one's own government disarm their own nukes is for the citizenry to illegally get them from the Saudi Arabian black market and to literally threaten the government to disarm their nukes or get blown up by citizen acquired nukes. Otherwise, when voting you are only appealing to a crook that was already bought by other crooks way before you voted for such purchased representatives that already punked the peoples votes. It's better to get a big stick that cannot be refused by neither the bribed nor the bribers.

Rather than send our nukes away somewhere, it's more likely that even when we finally get the tech to leave this planet for good, we will likely bring those nukes with us as a -just in case- measure against running into alien species we can't defeat with normal means.
Just because an alien species might have better weapons on average than us, it's not necessarily likely that they will have had someone who figured out how to split the atom like us. in other words nukes might become an interstellar weapon for us in the distant future.

Nuking the sun with nuclear weapons is not a viable option as the technology to do so does not currently exist and the amount of energy required to do so would be astronomical. Additionally, the sun is a massive object and the effects of a nuclear explosion on it would be negligible. The potential damage to the solar system and the Earth would be catastrophic. It is not a viable or responsible action to consider.
reply

The cost would be literally zero if the failure to do so would be the extinction of humanity. Experts and materials would cost nothing as we would have to unite all of our efforts to make this happen. As stated, we couldn't make a dent in it with nukes, bit of there was a way, humanity would have to put aside their differences to accomplish the herculean effort.
reply

It's something how, although this wouldn't work anyway, if for some reason there was a shot at re-energizing our sun with all of the world's nukes, it wouldn't be due to lack of materials that would hinder us but rather the potential high price tag.
reply

The title reminds of car sticker that shows a ban on nuclear electricity while promoting solar panel.
PS: It is possible to destroy the sun, send planet size water loads. Good ole fashioned plain water. After so much it can literally explode

Man is to greedy to even think about launching one nuke to save Earth. The debate among Nations would take generations.
Some Nations would even accuse others of lying and falsifying data.
I have more faith in getting abducted by Aliens.

Take solar matter from the sun it will prolong suns' life. Smaller stars got way longer life. We don't need to add by nucking the sun, we need to lift sollar matter and use it as energy, in order to prolog the life of our sun.
reply

And just how much hydrogen do you think would be able to travel the 93, 000, 000 miles to the sun, not explode long before it arrived there & actually make its way into the suns core where the fusion takes place? 0%, thats how much.
reply

Nothing. The missile carrying the nuke would melt long before it got close to the sun and would not go off. The sun is so huge compared to the tiny nukes it would have zero effect even if you could hit the sun.
reply

The sun is not solid then how could we use physical explosion to explode a nonphysical existence like the sun. but the negative or inverter could neutralize the sun light without needing to use explosion
reply

sun: earth I have a bad news for you I will gonna be explode in billion years
Earth: :0 don't worry sun I will save you
sun: how?
Earth: by nuke
sun: wait what
launch nuke to the sun

reply

Couldn't us throwing Nukes at the sun possibly cause some large solar flare. Assuming the rockets doesn't get close to the sun, does the explosion of the nuke cause any issues as well for the sun?
reply

I just checked out damn how you guys are debating this topic---. SUN. thats one behemoth we cant even imagine to take down. If it comes closer to earth am sure even our ashes wont remain.
reply

There is a nuclear reactor design that actually uses nuclear waste as fuel, but people have been that brainwashed into believing that all nuclear is bad it will never be built
reply

It-s goes to show how messed up this world is that even if our survival depended on it people would still care about how much it would cost to save us
reply

The sun wouldn't give a dam. there are nuclear explosions going on on the sun all the time much bigger than all the nuclear arsenal we got

I don-t know how you guys come up with these scenarios but there-s always so fascinating and I always learn something new --

Bro why would it cost billions to save the earth? wouldnt everybody just offer their help? who-s getting paid that 1billion?
reply

That's like asking -what would happen if you dropped a few drops of water in the ocean? - literally nothing
reply

The sun is so massive that we could hit it with the entire PLANET and the sun would go: -what was that. a mosquito? -
reply

I know what will happen the nukes will melt before they even arrived did ppl already forget it is 5000+ c-?
reply

here's a question what if we nuke the moon? cuz it was a plan in cold war but was cancelled due to something.
