I really don't think the discovery of alien life would change a thing about mankind.
In recent years astronomers have made astonishing discoverys and despite the interesting mistakes, we have stories about how omuomua interstellar asteroid been an actual space ship, or the mistery Taby's Star weird object (Dyson sphere like structure, this things altought not really been what they look like didn't raise public interest.
Today, i saw a Tucker Carlson piece about a recent footage of a UFO released by pentagon.
Folks in the comment section: this is just distraction
Public are so accustomed with the idea of alien life in other planets, being exposed whit all sorts of fiction about that we simply wouldn't care if we finally make contact even if they look like giant alien spiders (Love + Death + Robots ep Beyond Aquila Rift explored this idea.
So we are already vaccinated on this issue to the point of get insensible about it.
At this point it would be more shocking if we find out that we actually are trully alone and unique in universe.

Wait so doesnt the UK and France have the same population with the brits have like a million more ppl, I'm pretty sure France doesnt necessarily have s unifying ideology among the populous l, the same question u would pose to the average about invading Thailand the average french would say the same, there is no incentive to invade or colonize is thise places, also I do know that France is doing neo colonialism in west Africa, but I'm pretty sure the average French isnt for it or indifferent, and I'm pretty sure the French doenst have a unifying ideology, but u would be put them as upcoming superpower down the line then the UK, even they basically same, with the UK being a bit higher, but as I said the the french do have a head start with the neo colonial, but that's really the largest difference, if I remember the population of UK surpassed France when the UK was following behind France on population and then UK passed and they switched places ofcourse I may be wrong, but ya, well whatever

How did I miss this live? Damn. I was watching the prior videos. Haha. I wanted to ask my weird question of What if oil was replaced by a magic energy production like fusion that only used something cheap like regular hydrogen from water. Basically unlimited power for advanced science countries.
And they could desalinate all the water they needed.
But right now wars rely on oil; water and oil are fought over.
Whale oil is weird to us now; ground oil would be just as weird.
But I don't know how no need for oil would effect nations and wars. I think it would be really interesting.
I'll try to ask the question next time.

Interesting convo. Re the question of white majority/minority in America around -27: 00, it sounds like the understanding on how race works in America may be lacking. Hispanics are a pan-ethnicity, not a racial group, and are thus already made up of racially white, black, indigenous, etc. It's already fragmented as Roifield posited would happen down the line. A lot of the talk was will be when it already exists. Also Turkish people are considered racially white in the same way Greeks and Jews are in America. But I agree that our racial classifications don't make sense.

Being ignored isn't that bad of a thing. If your civilization in the spotlight, it's typically because something awesome is happening to it, in the biblical sense of awesome (which more often than not means terrifying. Stable, moderately wealthy states don't warrant it; so for example Botswana, by far the nicest country in sub-Saharan Africa, is the also by far most overlooked.

The Geekpublican it would be pretty despotic to answer that guy's question of what if the EU Governments were more enlightened despots or monarchies I believe is what he asked and yeah you can just rewind a few hundred years and see how that was.

I dunno what you mean by Ottomans were not that bad. Maybe for an average Turkish peasant living in anatolia it wasn't. And no the nobility weren't the only ones who suffered under Ottoman rule. That elite army you are talking about consisted of man who were taken as young boy slaves from their families all over the balkans.

South American history is highly ignored and it's really interesting but so incredibly hard to find content on I just ordered the book your reading though I'm making it a goal this year to learn more about all South American history I've never actually taken a hard look at it through the years.

That question about Code Geass is because that show basically is an alternate history scenario where the U. S. lost the revolutionary war, then the Royal Family was kicked out of Europe by french-supported revolutionaries, and the British Empire was ruled from the American continent.
