Find out how Pixar raised the CGI bar for ultra-realistic environments and landscapes in -The Good Dinosaur. - SUBSCRIBE for more videos Luspear: That was fascinating. I am interested in landscapes. The ones in World of Warcraft are particularly inspiring for me. I was blown away by the beauty of the backgrounds of Good Dinosaur. The graphics and aesthetics were both good. I was particularly impressed by the water. The water rendering was impressive, even though it is generally a hard thing to do. The Good Dinosaur is a peculiar case where the backgrounds look so much better than the characters.

Very impressive indeed. But I am wondering. Do we want - Ultra Realism- in an Animated Film? Its like technicians have replaced background artists. Now you need just one - artist - in the art department to guide a bunch of technicians and that is the Art Director himself/herself. .Of course I am not against Ultra Realism and definitely see its place invfx done for live action movies. but definitely not in Animation.

Most realistic I've ever seen. And I've pretty much seen them all. It's almost too good. The photo-realistic environment and then there's the (albeit very well animated) characters not looking as so. It just looked kind of funny. Still doesn't defeat the fact of how breathtaking this movie is. In my Pixar top 5!

I find both highly contrasted styles mixed together highly distracting. Also, I would find it way more charming to use drawn and painted landscapes. When they show the artwork 2: 27 that to me has way more attractive aspects than any realistic looking world.

Hey thanks to Mike and the people at fxguide and wired for once again putting together a great insight into the new feats accomplished in tgd. Without this it would be a lot harder to scrap together a comprehensive look into the technical details of the film.

For a while watching the movie I thought they pulled a 'Walking with Dinosaurs' bit; adding the characters on top of REAL backdrops!
I finally realized it wasn't photo shot in, but rather completely CG! Loved the details on this movie!

The team that made this film should be incredibly proud of their work. It was visually stunning and moving. The scene where Arlo and spot build their families out of sticks was probably the best piece of cinema ive seen all year.

Gotta love Pixar constantly raising the bar on CG effects. Nobody does it better than them, and it seems like they're set on keeping it that way. I love them for that: 3

I always viewed this film as a tech demo. This and the Piper short are just unbelievable. Pixar is so far beyond any other animation studio.

The movie was beautiful but the story line was a bit weak. I liked it but it wasn't amazing, it was cute. I couldn't get over the cgi
