After this video I'm just really impressed by how my dental surgeon was able to stitch up the hole in my mouth after 2 molars came out together. Those tools don't even fit in my mouth. I wonder if they maybe used the less -civilized- way of tying knots or if there are smaller tools for the mouth specifically.

16: 00 the moment every med student/resident waited for. Being taught for weeks to do an elegant hand tie, just to do 2 spins and 1 pull. I know general surgery still needs the hand-ties so you can stich deep organs like the mesenterium and dont require you to pull the tissue up

The first time I watched this video, I was in my last year of undergrad, sobbing about how I wouldn't get into med school. Now I'm in my second year of med school and the president of the local student surgical society.

-Real surgeons don't use the hole-. Isn't there any engineers who invent the tools, that could come up with something -smarter- that surgeons can use? Or is it just there for the start of the sewing? :)

I-m a first-year vet student, and we just learned the interrupted instrument sutures this week, I-m laughing at Dr. Onishi calling them -uncivilized- - that-s all we do in general practice!

When I think of surgeons I always wonder how many med students don-t end up operating because, while they may have the knowledge, they can-t master all of the fine motor skills you need.

It-s ironic that this is in my recommended considering that I just got 6 stitches in my chin. I also chipped off half of my tooth. Quite the way to start off thanksgiving.

With all that pulling. Peter would probably rip more tissue than actually closing it. Still, a valiant effort and thoroughly well explained by Dr Onishi.
