I have a Tesla, when I first bought it I overheated the brakes in the mountains and tried to get a hole and ask them to warranty them. The service tech took one look at my blue rotors and said this was on a track your warranty is void i said no it was on public roads and he said we will verify that and they were able to pull up my exact location and the speed I was driving. He was a like you went 120 in the mountains And I was like that’s a public road isn’t it Warranty not voided He was like yea I guess

It's funny that people are scared of the Chinese spying on them as a 3rd party through agreements. While they're driving the car of someone seated in the oval office. I'm more comfortable with the Chinese then Musk and Trump. It least i know where i stand with the Chinese. Billionaires trying to take over the world, i have no trust in. Which is why people are selling their Teslas at record pace world wide. We need a remake of the great film Enemy Of The State to enlighten people.

Talk about a biased report! Just a tiny bit at the end saying - yeah they ALL do it. The Sentry mode is a superb thing that helps owners who have idiots who decide to damage things get caught. Tesla actually invest in the Pwn2Own events to help them find the vulnerabilities in their car's software, giving away cars and the like to those who manage to show an issue. I haven't seen anything showing GM/Ford/BMW being so open to learning by being 'hacked'.

Whistleblower gave 100 GB of internal documents --- wow, not we are calling illegal hackers, as whistleblowers Just like illegal is now undocumented migrant
If he was a whistleblower, then he should have sent the data to govt. Sending it to newspaper 100 GB of commercially sensitive data
That is straight up theft. Also, just talking tesla in isolation, when other companies are so much worse, shows which side your bread is buttered.

You're clutching pearls over Tesla when your smartphone’s already a privacy nightmaretied to you 24/7, trackable via cell networks alone. Cars GM’s OnStar can remotely kill your engine, and plenty of companies brag about it. Look at the folks hit with jacked-up insurance rates after GM sold their driving data. Scrutinizing tech is smart, but this Tesla focus feels overblown compared to what’s already out there.

We need standardized disclosure language for what others do with our data. I'm happy to share for debugging, but hate the notion they could use that to listen in and watch me and track me all the time. And one easy law should be that all data shared with businesses using their products that it cannot ever be searched by government even through warrants.

I like how informative this is, but it will be solid if you can remove your agenda.
For Tesla, you are dealing with just 1 company, if you own a cell phone, there are phone manufacturers, the cell system, and all the app creators, the more apps you install, the more privacy risk you put yourself in. That is just how it is nowadays.

To be fair, this kind of surveillance is everywhere. My own car tracker data was used by my insurance to show I wasn't speeding, and I only thought about all this data-gathering when it was brought to my attention. At the same time, I started getting calls because half the world and their cats were notified of my accident

I watch this video by logging in with my email account on a platform that sells people's personal information, using a smartphone that probably spies on me real time. Big brothers are always watching, you'd have to become a hermit or tribesman if you want privacy, even then you may not be able to escape.

Time and time again it has been shown tech companies have simply lied about their anonymization and their promise not to collect data. I can't imagine why anyone would put their faith in yet another tech company after so many incidents have already been reported, and certainly not Tesla in particular.

Every street corner and public place hav cameras that is already tracking you. It was put in by your trusted government for your own safety. They tapped your phone data and communications. Anyone rememeber Snoden If you are pointing the finger at one corporation and its owner, why not others

GM and Onstar were caught basically doing the same thing. This seems like a great clickbait post though. Lots of people aware of Musk and Tesla, gotta stir the pot and get some ad revenue. I appreciate owning up to the other car companies spying at the end, at least you added that as well.

I love that you call Tesla's tech safety features when in reality they're LAZINESS features that are very dangerous. I commute 5 days a week and I constantly see Tesla drivers distracted and drifting into other lanes, etc, more than the other cars on the road.

So much FUD in this video. 1-You never mention privacy setting which owners can easily toggle off, 2-at 8: 35 you fail to mention an owner can simply remove the thumb drive any sentry mode videos are stored on. And that cap makes you look like an idiot.

Whoever shot/edited this needs to lay off the monster drinks and ditch that oblique close up. Holy crap man, enough with the jump cuts literally every two seconds wide, medium, oblique close up, wide, medium, oblique close up. It's incredibly distracting.

What's this world coming to. I cant even give my Boyfriend a Blow BJ Jobr while hes driving or parked without being recorded. Sometimes I wish we could all go back to the payphone days in general it was a better kind of life as a human being

Companies have a bad track record of keep your data safe. Selling it to companies or plain out letting LEO collect your data. Spying on the people is something we get in China about. Yet we do it to your own citizens all the time.
reply

Why are you saying they have the most advanced tech, they're known for cutting cheap sensors that they need and replacing them with even cheaper webcams, when confronted with hitting a person they slow down and just roll over people
reply

Actually, Chevy is a lot worse than Tesla. It was sharing travel data including speed with data brokers that then sold it to insurers. If you own a Chevy and your rates have risen, that could be a part of the increase.
reply

Yes it is. Along with many other household items. Most of these companies do not have top-notch security. This info is public. Look into how many house cameras, kid cameras, pet camera companies have been compromised
