Depends on the game. Do I think chaos make people smarter? No. I dont neccesarily think that. It can be stressful, which is proven to deteriorate congitive function. Do I think the brain is a muscle? Yes. I actually think recollection is the best cognitive excersize. The best game? Better than gaming? I mean I do love games. They're fun. But what are the best games for the brain? Probably something like crossword puzzles- and Math. If you can enjoy reading then reading is probably up there too, with conversation. Crossword puzzles force both visualization and a good solid excersize in recollection. I think I might do one right now actually.

I'm a gamer but I can't really stand all this propaganda, all these people around saying that games don't hurt, maybe even help, is total no-sense paid for by the games industry leaders. You as a gamer should be smarter and understand that gaming also causes problems (apathy, waste of time, etc) and do not get too much into it, also because you will never become a pro-player, that circuit is closed as well, is for rich kids mostly and sometimes someone exceptionally good, and if rich kids want to waste their time playing videogames just don't waste your watching them.

By the same logic, basketball makes people taller! There needs to be a proper scientific testing on hundreds upon hundreds of pairs of individuals that are paired on these cognitive tests based on score where one group is the control and the other gets to play video games for a longer period of time for anyone to be able to draw even the simplest conclusion about the effects of video games. Comparing two people on these tasks (the gamer vs non-gamer) does not mean anything at all. Basically, you don't even have a slightly reliable correlation, let alone causation.

The first set of cognitive tests is completely biased. It's clearly been designed for skills specific to gaming therefore you cannot say that gamers overall perform better cognitively. Additionally, this is lacking information on dopamine and brain maturation in adolescent brain. Although the concept of the video is nice I think it is misleading and is going to be used as an excuse for many adolescents whom have not yet a fully developed control mechanism in their brain.

I have played different types of games like Counter strike, Dota 2, Age of Empire, Rise of Kingdoms etc. And games taught me many different things like
Counter strike - Having mental cool even in tense situations.
Dota 2 - it taught me Teamwork.
Age of empire - learn to use your resources efficiently.
Rise of Kingdoms - how to conquer your enemy ---

10: 30 I've had summer where I gamed 16 hours a day for several weeks but it's hard to sustain it indefinitely. I remember taking a survey and one of the questions asked how many hours I gamed per month. At the time, it was about 8 hours per day which is 1680/month but the survey wouldn't accept anything over 500 lol which is only a little over 2 hours a day

Question. Does anyone know a good time limit for gaming? So if I am super addicted to playing video games (like 0 hours per school day and unlimited hours on weekend [which tends to be like maybe 5-8 hrs]) how much time should I reduce my gaming time during the weekends to in order that I can be less addicted.

Who realized that video games made our memory better without seeing but by touching. Like for example people who play video games on k&m you have like 50 buttons to press but you press exactly the ones you want because you have muscle memory. I know that for gamers this is normal but for others is amazing!

Another thing that needs to be studied is the other spectrum of gaming: narrative. Storytelling has always been important. Gaming can push boundaries with that. Of course, that's obvious, but are there measurable benefits to creativity in consuming stories (games/tv/movies/books?

You need to re do this but strictly study Brains of gamers who only play apex legends & gamers who play other shooters. I gurantee apex legends players are scienticfically better at shooters after playing the game than players who do not.
