Pretty sure the red energy which hit the arbiter wasn't when Sylvanas broke the helm. It's clear she was driving the war in Battle for Azeroth to send as many souls to the Maw as possible, and that was prior to breaking the helm. It's also clear that it was the Jailor, somehow, who influenced Vol'jin to name her warchief so that she could be in the right position to feed the maw with as many souls as possible. It's also clear that this red energy occurred prior to BfA and Sylvanas driving the war. We know it's not Garrosh from WoD, because he was sent to Revendreth, clearly before the Arbiter went out of service. Therefore, this occurred at some point during Legion. Not sure Kil'Jaedan would count, because it doesn't seem like demon souls end up in the Shadowlands, maybe I'm wrong, and I just don't think his would have been powerful enough to have that effect. Clearly the Arbiter would have managed demon souls like his before, if demon souls end up there. I do have to wonder if it has to do with that sword in Silithus which Sargeras rammed into Azeroth's side. That would really be the only -new- development which the Shadowlands wouldn't have experienced before. Working with the jailor didn't seem to be on Sylvanas' radar during most of Legion. She was busy trying to be able to make more Val'kyr to avoid the Shadowlands altogether (which Genn Greymane shut down. So, if the red energy is related to some event we saw in game, my money would be on the sword in Silithus. It's the only new development within roughly the right time frame.

Plot twist, we the player are the Arbiter and we have been -living- the lives of these heroes since their creation!
The cool point that the light is present in the realm of death which means that it is a force that transcends dimensions.
3: 20 That red thing, could it be a soul, the corrupting power of the sword stabbed into the world, N'zoth in his death, or maybe the nightmare as it crept into the realm of death, or could it even Argus or the seat of the pantheon? Let the speculation begin!

I think the red thing disabling the Arbiter could be many things. The most popular opinion seems to be it's Argus. That seems kinda too obvious for me, but considering WoW's writing, it's a strong possibility. Others seem to think it's Kil'Jaeden but many others think it's not because demons do not go to the shadowlands. But KJ isn't a demon, he's a corrupted Eredar. Still, I don't think that's it. Too convoluted.
But what about if that red thing isn't a soul? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

reply

Lmao really? This is the ENTIRE plot? The jailer made a pact with the void lords, the Il'gynoth whispers of -Five keys to open our way. Five torches to light our path. - is nothing more than the old god n'zoth dying so his soul (somehow old god souls go to shadowlands) can corrupt the arbiter so the jailer gets control of Death and the Void gets to corrupt all Life.
And in the end we get n'zoth saying -t'was my plan all along! -

reply

The jailer almost seemed pleased after Anduin called upon the light. is the light Anduin invokes now trapped in the Maw like everything else. Was this what the -Jailer- actually wanted to happen. to invoke and unwittingly confine his light into this Jailed Realm called the Maw? I-m probably wrong as it-s a far-fetched guess. but It would put the jailers concluding statement -I have exactly what I need- into context.

Man i dunno but i was hoping arthas came all Thor-like in wakanda. Flash of light and he appears then throws a couple of heals and everyone is like -how can u do pala sheit if u DK? - and then hes all like -the force is with me, as always- swings a 2H hammer (like the one he had at first on WC3) crushes some mobs like bugs and makes a barrier to help everyone escape.
reply

As many below are trying to figure out. That red soul. I think that was Argus. I mena how many world souls have died, let alone how many have experienced a tormented life like he did? The Arbiter experiences everything the dead soul did. Imagine being hit by everything Argus felt in a fraction of a second.
reply

I refunded shadowlands but let me prophecy this. The soul disabling the arbiter was Argus because the Arbiter is not made for titan souls. The soul of Argus freed the Jailer from its shakles and with all the new souls and eating azeroth the jailer plans to get out of his shiethole dimension.
reply

Im guessing that is Argus' soul. He is the titan of death and his magic and form were the same red color. It would also make sense as to why it would be so powerful to knock out characters who are on the same power level as a titan supposedly
reply

Is it my idea, ir Anduin would be the key to the jailor freedom?
In the maw the jailor was testing the 4 leaders, maybe the strong soul and light powers of Anduin could break the Jailor's -chains- -

reply

Why would souls only go to the Maw if there is no one to send the souls to the Maw? I would think that the souls would go to where ever they want to go, creating more chaos throughout the Shadowlands.
reply

I reckon the red soul that hit the Arbiter was Sargeras. There are 2 ideas what happened next. Either all that power damaged her, or she is in a trance/not processing his soul to contain him.
reply

Just to know, but with so many parallel universes, how many of -us- are there? The me of a universe is in a realm, another in another? How does it work? They made a mess with draenor.
reply

Bolvar holds the power of Alextrasza's Flame of Life within him after he was burned by her at Wrathgate and will use that Flame of Life against the Jailer and Sylvanas, mark my words.
reply

I like to think that the red soul was Nathanos' - he probably trolled and cringed the Arbiter to despair, all while being a simp towards Sylvanas. Too much to handle, you know.
reply

Red soul Sylvanas? Those are banshee shrieks. That is why she saw hell when she killed herself, she saw the Maw as she was above it but valks ressurected her.
reply

Would've been great if the Jailor was like, a bigger reveal than. -oh you get to see the big bad antagonist at. basically the start of the expansion! pog! -
reply

any explanations about the hit in the arbiter's chest? who/what might it be? the power caused by the banshee queen's tearing the helmet? or sth else?
reply

Oh yes. It's not like anduin the priest could've used that light magic and prevented the valkyre from kidnapping him in the first place. Noooooo never.
reply

Hey, thanks Athelarius, now we dont have to go back to our horrible addiction that is wow to experience whatever story they're throwing around now
reply

Really don't appreciate the spoilers in the title. Could you at least wait one day beyond release? Maybe make the title vague until later?
reply

So that red blast of energy was 100% Argus- soul slamming into the arbiter after we kill him in mythic Antorus.
reply

When you arrived in Oribos I saw her stir for the first time in many cycles.
I bet you say that to all the champions.

reply

Someone explain please:
What was the red thing 3: 20?
Did Sylvanas cause this when she broke the helmet?

reply

Calling it now that red bolt was the energy of Sargeras that Argus was using as he died in Mythic Antorus.
reply

That's a router's job! The whole Expansion was a metaphor for saving Wibu neet who can't download Anime
reply

The arbiter guiding souls and seeing those souls traveling to their realms was actually very impressive.
