I'm really enjoying this series - thank you for this audio book version! My life right now doesn't allow me much reading time, but I can listen and work.
Opinion with spoilers.

Blowing up the house was the worst idea in my opinion.
Firstly, it didn't serve any purpose othering than scorched earth. But it was unlikely the marauders were ever going to really use it. Were they going to become ranchers and farmers Unlikely. It just made it unusable for anyone who may have wanted to in the future.
Which comes to my second point; they blew up the house and THEN said anyone who wanted to stay could stay. Great - blow up the main domicile and then offer it up to anyone who wanted it. Kind of a dick move you ask me.
Which brings me to my third point; if some wanted to stay they probably could have had a good go of it. The marauders were unlikely to stick around long, wanting to catch the people who abandoned the place. And it sure sounded like they had to leave a lot behind, including all the farm animals and crops. If some stayed and hid until the coast was clear, it's really likely they would have been fine. It would have been a risk, but a few people might have had a good chance.
Additionally, blowing up the place made so the attackers weren't going to stick around as long. Less places to search meant less time spent on the farm. Not blowing up the house could have bought more time for the people abandoning the place. An extra hour could have made a lot of difference.
But blowing up the place really should have made it obvious to the marauders that something was up. Fires don't just go out on their own quickly, and it can take an hour or more for a fire department to put out a house fire. A fire on it's own would have lasted a while. If the house being missing, or still on fire as it probably would have been, didn't arouse suspicion, then the marauders were pretty dumb.
And lastly blowing up the house wasted a rocket. A rocket that could have blown up bridge, a vehicle, a group of people, or any other number of uses. On the house it was just a waste IMHO.
Anyway that's my thought on the subject. I still like the story, but this part bothered me.

13: 14 - that can be a dangerous form of leadership. Wiser to have 1 leader with 2 advisors. 3 equal leaders, once disagreements occur, will show that there really isn’t an equal leadership & will create sour feelings.
Having 1 leader & then a lead advisor for planning security/ safety & a lead advisor for survival needs (food, water, medicine) would actually be the most ideal structure of leadership.

How is it possible that 5 years in no one has found any walkie-talkies Or rechargeable batteries. Or solar panels. Instead they need pony express riders on motorcycles Gas doesn't last that long, even if they found a stash of treated fuel. Diesel won't last that long, either. Losing plausibility with each tome, suitable for background noise and amusement only.

The further on I get in this story the better it and the writing have gotten, now I can't wait to listen to more. The narration also has gotten better imo, in anticipation I switched to the first chapter of book 5, which was recorded 2y ago, but quickly decided I would wait. Thanks to you and Adam for your amazing work!

I started this series a few days ago. And just just finished this one at this exact moment in which I am typing this comment in which I am doing right now. I love it. I’m sad tho. Lost a few characters I liked. Gaaaah on to the next at this exact moment.

It's been years since I found a story I can't walk away from. You ought to be proud of what you've written. You've done one hell of a job even though I kinda want to punch you for the ending of that chapter. Someone is cutting onions damnit.

I feel like there should have been hidden vehicles or motorcycles hidden around with weapons so certain scenarios could be dealt with. Rag all over again. I know it’s a book but no one would stop me hunting after that.
reply

Thanks for putting these books on line, however the 4th book I find is hardwork, the main character seems to be laboriously going on about his conscience and dilemmas even though he’s been surviving for over a year.

This is a good one for sure, but ill be totally honest, unless Ash is some kind of absolute freak of nature, its VERY hard to believe that he would be more deadly than Mr. Rag, a highly trained AND natural born killer

Is the artwork AI generated The car on the left looks like 2 cars in one. Like 2 front ends And the people in the distance look like they got strings for arms and look weird. Anyways good book though enjoyed the story alot

Ugh! This has been great to listen to! I’m only in the beginning of this one, but I’m annoyed! Why is Isaac bossing around the other kids if the Chinese are gone. Why does he care that Ash ran away
reply

Very thankful for your work. I’ve heard the growth in both writing and narration. It’s been a great series so far. I found this series thanks to the algorithm. Must be from the recent uploads!

I absolutlely love these audiobooks, the writing and the narrator are excellent. So excited for the next one! Thank you for making these accessible in a time of corporate greed and capitalism.

I totally enjoy Most of Scot Medbury books. When Teddy allegedly got eaten by the bear and another character sacrificed. Luke still is my favorite. Reminds me of a mountain man who survived.

They should go take an island on Lake George or just claim Fort Ticonderoga and they could grow all their food in the kings garden right next to it

Love the books. I think I would have interrogated the prisoners before execution to get more intel on the Marauders. But maybe I watch too much tv
reply

Dont worry boys I'll write you a list.
. we were ready to leave a half hour later
Yup. That sounds like the lists I am given.

I am getting really fed up with Isaac, and I may not even finish this chapter. He is the definition of a bad leader.
