Ant-Man 3: Please STOP Making 2 Hour Movies 12CLASSICS: It took me a while to think more about Hank and Cassie because at first I totally agreed with you about the suddenness of their relationship. But according to the MCU wiki, the events of Endgame happened in 2023 (this year) and Cassie was born in 2007. She turns 18 at the end of this film, indicating that this film s events occur in 2025. So that means Cassie had 2 years to grow closer to Hank, learn from him, work on creating the Quantum Realm signal, and training with her suit. She didn t create the device or learn how to operate the suit overnight. Plus since Scott and Hope s relationship became particularly serious after the events of Ant-Man 2, it would make sense for Cassie to start referring to Hank as her grandfather since she considers the Pyms to be family already. Also we re never shown her specialty in school; she might very well have always been interested in STEM prior to this film. I do agree with you that there should ve been some scenes in the opening montage showing Hank and Cassie going over notes together while Hope is working her new business, indicating that this has been going on for a while now.

2: 28 hank was snapped out of existence so he didn t take care of Cassie during the snap.
I never thought I d not like Cassie but this movie made me hate her character. At the beginning all she does is complain about people not doing enough but it s stated the movie takes place concurrently with Wakonda Forever which takes place after she-hulk where it s stated the world has gotten over the blip and recovered. She belittles her father, the avengers, and TONY STARK by saying that saving the world isn t enough and she learns nothing from this! Scott had to learn how to not doubt himself in his first movie Hope had to learn how to work as a team with Scott in their 2nd movie. They go through arks they are not the same at the beginning, middle, and end of their movies. Cassie does none of this and is the same at the beginning and end.
Another thing I noticed is the issue of girl boss characters in the movie. A girl boss female character who can do everything from fighting, science, leading, etc. this so not a good story telling device. Most characters have 1 of these characteristics or maybe 2.
A good example of this is when they are split up in the quantum realm. We have 2 teams Cassie and Scott then Janet, Hank, and Hope. This is more about Janet, Hank, and Hope than Scott and Cassie as there are 3 of them instead of the 2. In a team each member has to bring something to the table. Each member has to have their place. Take one out, and the team is lacking. Usually this amounts to these traits. The leader, someone who knows the strengths and weaknesses of the other members and themselves and uses them accordingly, The brains the one who thinks of solutions and solves puzzles, The Muscle the best at fighting and is usually the one protecting the team. There is also the Golden Trio, the 2 who buttheads and the 1 who puts them back on track. Janet, Hank and Hope could easily fit these 2 team archetypes but they don t. Ideally it would be Hank or Janet as the leader, Hank or Janet as the brain, and Hope as the muscle or Janet and Hank arguing and Hope putting them back on track. Sadly it s not like that, in this it s Janet is all 3 and Hope sits and listens to her mom spouts expansion to Hank. Hope and Hank basically do NOTHING. Hank doesn t build the machine that starts it and he doesn t do anything to get them out. Not only did they make Janet both a McGuffin and a Girl boss they ignored that Hope is also a Girl boss (that s actually been written well before) and then they throw ANOTHER ONE into Cassie and Scott s group in the rebel leader. Marvel isn t learning from their mistakes and it s getting to the point where I don t want to watch these movies and have to force myself to so that I m not confused when Spider-Man or Daredevil comes out.

I find nothing wrong with making light-hearted jokes about past conflicts because like most people in real life, when superheros make it out of tough situations they can laugh at it in the future. Everyone does it, thus the saying this will be funny later. What I do have a problem with is HOW they do it in Ant-Man. Rather than being light-hearted and a character reflecting on their past, it's mean-spirited and other characters telling Ant-Man what he did doesn't matter to them. But that's a problem I've always had with the MCU-- the other avenger's literally treated him like this AS he was saving the world and reduced him to a joke.

I think the problem with these never movies are this: Setup and payoff.
Marvel lives and dies by this concept, like you said, they need to set up infinety war and split tony and rogers, thys civil war, yet that was set upped by age of ultron, which was set upped by avengers 1.
The newer movies are rushing this concept of set up and payoff, or in the case cassie, completly forgetting it, which creats the effect of rushing towards the goal aka kang dynasty and secret wars. And how they are screwing it up this much is a mystery, cause the concept is one of writtings fundemental concepts.
Anyways, great video as always.

After Quantumania, I really do not trust Loveness. Prior to Antman, I don't believe he has a movie screenplay credit, and it shows. Now Feige put him in charge of the story for Avengers Kang Dynasty? Ugh. I hate to admit it, but the MCU is going downhill with the occasional great movie, i. e. Shang Chi, Spiderman NWH. Eternals, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Black Widow, Thor 4, and Quantumania all range from okay to very disappointing. Feige needs to personally right this ship and fast, and not just trust in the creatives or his lieutenants to get it right. Phase 5 can not be another disappointing incoherent phase.

I have to agree with the whole 'focus more on the movie itself instead of making setting things up for the future the whole point'. For example, back when Cap 3 was being written, it wasn't even the original plan for it to be a civil war between avengers! At the time, yes they might have known they want to build to Infinity War, but they largely left things undecided until the last minute, thereby making each film be able to stand by itself without leaning to hard into future stuff. This is explored more in-depth in MatPat's Film Theory video on the downfall of Marvel.

Personally, I enjoyed the movie. I only found fault in two things. One was how easy it was to take out Kang. Even though we see him as a tough guy, in the end they won when he was able to lift them in the air and crush them like it was nothing earlier in the film. The other thing I didn t like was MODOK. He was made by AIM, not Kang, he was never Darren, and he should never have been shoehorned in there. Other than that I quite enjoyed the movie. The acting, visuals, continuity, action, all very good

The last point is absolutely true. in the final battle scene kang said to scott that you could have gone home. but in the end kang dies and scott went home safely. This makes no sense. if they had stuck in the quantum realm. Cassie would have faced the consequences of her mistake. And kang would have a better image. he would seem real deadly as he really is. but he seemed like a normal villain untill we saw the post credit scene.

I HATE it when some big brain Marvel fans still try to justify everything, i mean what's wrong with accepting flaws, everyone praises a brilliant movie, Canadian lad goes through every minute detail and tells us how the movie is perfect baseline for everything ahead but now it seems like him unwillingly have to explain it like some ordinary low budget movie storyline, need to fix this and that.

It s just really frustrating for marvel to fall off so hard, they d rather tell a story with just a bunch of dialogues rather than show the development. How did Kamala get her powers? A bangle got shipped to her place and she wore and got powers, Cassie already has a suit and don t get me started on she hulk. It s lazy and I cannot be invested in stories that take shit so lightly

How could cassie connect with hank pym when Scott was trapped in quantum realm. Wasn't hank pym dusted because of thanos's snap. Wasn't that the reason why Scott was stuck in quantum realm. I know you love marvel. So do I. But please check your script for facts before releasing the video. This is a constructive criticism and not hatred towards you. I absolutely love your videos.

Marvel phase 4 & 5 are going to be absolutely trash! Every freaking movie is so effing boring at this point! After the pandemic, I think the audiance is really okay with watching darker movies. So, add some freaking darker stuff. And increase the damn duration of the whole movie! DC is far better man! I am really excited for DCU. Enough of this rainbow shit from Marvel!

I agree completely, also has he sworn in a video before? I am completely on your side here. They didn't ever finish this movie, they should've released this movie at least half a year later. This movie had so much potential. Heck, most of the recent movies had potential. But now the projects are rushed and are even more of a money grab than before.

The big issue for me is that the writer himself said that he didn t see anything wrong with the plot at all. That plus the fact that he actually LIKES what happened with modok got me quite frustrated. What he said and the way he behaved after the bad reception of the movie got me worried about Kang Dynasty. That s a rly big red flag to me.

When are you going to stop complaining about random stuff literally no one cares about? Seems like half of your videos nowadays are just you going off on some rant because you didn't like something. I subbed to you since your reviews were unique with the whole 0. 25x speed thing, but now you're trying to push your opinions on your viewers.
