Dave is annoyed the annoyingly exuberant team spirit of his robot colleagues Human Resources of Ugago by Ennio Ruschetti & David Oesch Connect with the Filmmakers: More About Human Resources of Ugago: Dave is the last human employee at UGAGO - a hip, modern stock footage-company. Dave hates his job, the group activities, and the annoyingly exuberant team spirit of his robot colleagues. He does his very best to seclude himself from everyone at his office, as he is convinced about his otherness and superiority to his robot coworkers. One day when he rashly refuses yet another friendly gesture from them, the robots have had enough of his behavior and decide to burst his bubble of arrogance. Human Resources of Ugago

The premise of any art appreciation class is to express how we resonate and how the film triggers us. Whether good or bad. A film director or screen writer did the exact same thing when making the film. Its only natural for an audience to do the same.
If we all were to watch a film and come up with the same conclusion I say we have lost creative thinking as a human race. We shouldn't all think the same.
Some have gone through trauma and will see the peer pressure and fakesness as off putting.
Some have never experienced those situations and will see this as a bitter man who finally conforms to being happy and its a good ending.
Hearing others stories and experiences helps us all grow as humans. No one is right nor wrong, just lived experiences.
The only absolute truth I belive in is God's word and His salvation for humanity. Everything else is perspective which I respect as a human right.

Ok Dust. I know you are just a platform for other creators, but this was terrible! About a dozen questions here.
What company needs an all android workforce with only 1 human
If there is nothing for him to do, or if his image maniput-work is so easy, why not just let him work from home
Why an office with a old-style printer Tech there is clearly more advanced.
What exactly do the androids do We saw no other offices or workstations.
I got a bunch more but I'll hop straight to the dig two. Why do these androids have emotions programmed into them And why did he just give in at the end Just quit dude!

You've made some splendid choices for this production, and as many said, it was very relatable! I very much hope this work gets the praise it deserves. Although it does leave me thinking about the science behind this subject. Indeed an overly optimised workplace feels very artificial and inhuman. But if we presume that this is dangerous and actually not as inclusive as it technically promises, then what is the alternative culture that a company's management should enforce Should we fight against this robotic behaviour

Ooh, it's a portrait of what happens to kids in 'progressive' school environments. It was presumably not meant to be about education at all, but for me it works very well as an acid test for educators deciding on a career path when escaping the horrors of mainstream - if you think it has a happy ending, you would probably thrive in a Progressive education space. If you feel that it has a horror ending, you're probably born to resonate with SDE.

Human res. : 1% human, 99% IOT tin cans.
Pure dream of Davos meetings No. I'm not a complotist indeed, but yet I can make the difference between an employee, and a can supposed to carry my cat's food. And my cat is a black cat, so today I could even be suspect of sorcery just because of that
Aside about all that, Merry Xmas everyone.

I really like watching movies. Do you have a movie. I don't remember the title, but it was about our world where people lost their memory for a very short time. There was a couple in the film who had tied a red ribbon on their hands so that they would not be forgotten and separated, but to stay together, to be remembered.

I enjoy the films and it's always interesting to see the comments as glimpses into different people's mindsets. It's unfortunate how people start unloading their personal burdens and develop jaded and heated rants (not conversations) but at the same time, I think it shows how the films being made really resonate with people.
reply

Ugh, I don't like teamwork. There's no appreciation for the differences in personality. I mean the robots appear extraverted while the human is introverted and there's no balance or boundaries between the two with the extraverted wanting everyone to be extraverted not realizing it's mentally exhausting for introverts.

The time is not so far off, when you may be the last human at work. Androids are nearly here and when an Android can flip burgers or anything else seven days a week, 24 hours a day, you really won't be needed. Its a social cusp we are on the verge of seeing come to pass for a whole host of jobs.

My take: An AI controlled world, performing experiments on the human bio-species; Dave is just one isolated subject of a psychology experiment. Zoom out, and he's in a giant fish tank / petri dish. What would happen if we created 'THIS' environment for it. Welcome to the future of being obsolete,
reply

Begs the question what Ugago really is, and whether Dave can leave or not. Is it a job in the normal sense, a government mandated thing, or human daycare since the bots are running everything Or something else entirely
Reminds me of the old sci fi short story With Folded Hands.

I love how yelling at the copier to stop it works. Seriously though, Frank got savage toward the end. When Dave tries to salvage some dignity with fixing the copier, Frank shows him how little they need him there. Such a great video

Coexistence with self aware robotics. Actually, this short film paints a rather optimistic picture on the mater. I too am optimistic, I think we would actually compliment each other. Very well done and thought provoking.

I lasted three minutes; the sound is literally painful; if your intent was to torture me, you succeeded. You need to put a hyperacusis trigger warning on this. I'm reporting this as abusive content.
reply

A success for me: the plot is whimsical and machiavecal from some angle but naiveluy positive from one another.
The realisation is very good and the acting also!
Big up!

reply

Oh how I relate to Dave! There is little that annoys me more than those touchy feely group hugs forced upon us in the workplace. I. HATE. THEM. SO. VERY. MUCH
reply

As a professional copier technician of over 30 years I can attest to the fact that some users attempt to fix their equipment in that exact fashion. ;-)
reply

I don't get it.
He fingerpainted OVER a rendering of a bird
(AND gave it a third-eye right in the front of its face over its nose. Abstract.

reply

I'd torch the place in a week.
But in the world where robots have taken over, to protect humans from themselves, they took away all the matches.

reply

Maybe Dave is doing GREAT, when you consider the challenges he faces when he leaves work. The robots never asked, how they could help Dave.
reply

Part of me wanted to see Dave go all OFFICE SPACE on the printer and drag away a piece wire attached to circuit board then saying I QUIT! .
reply

I wanted to dislike this because I really didn't understand the point of the story but the visual effects and acting were just too good

Exactly where we're headed: Undeveloped nation>Developing nation>First world nation>Outsourcing to developing nation>Automation
reply

One of the very few of the newer show's made in the last couple of years that is good. good job on this one dust
reply

Poor Dave. Nothing has changed, he's still at the sh! t job except now he has to pretend to love it.
reply

The only thing missing is being asked to donate money to buy a cake for one of the robot's birthdays.
reply

Bonus points for how condescending and phoney forced tokenization in modern workplaces feels.
reply

Everyone is a Dave at some point in your life, some times it is good to get out of your bubble.
reply

Upon intermediate re-watch I came to the conclusion that this is Humanity's inevitable future.
reply

Words wouldn't do this justice. It would need a finger painting at the very least! Truly brilliant!
reply

My finger painting would have been me with a rifle and a room full of robot targets.
reply

oh wow, I never thought I'd see something from the ZhdK on DUST! I enjoyed it a lot: D
reply

I absolutely loved the concept and the way the concept was presented! Brilliant!
reply

He will, he will. FIX IT! There, you already got me. Mocking robots, wonderful.
reply
