While most people are just trying to survive the war with their lives intact, Sam, an inexperienced engineer, is determined to save her partner, Dani, a noble human soldier who falls injured while fighting for AI android rights. Desperate to bring Dani back to life, Sam manages to capture Dani’s soul before it has left their body and begins an experimental procedure that merges Dani’s soul with a malfunctioning android - X72. I've been a fan of DUST for a few years now and have seen most of their Scifi shorts. With that said, This short film is now absolutely in the top 3 of my all time favs.
Within 9 minutes, the creator of the short, Lovina Yavari, has established fully actualized characters with depth and emotion, all set place in a believable world. Political points have been made, new concepts introduced, and a well thought out twist that makes sense in a sci-fi-fantasy.
The acting is superb, so natural that we can relate and so within seconds we are invested in the character's journey. I have given up on high budget mainstream shows because they fail to do this and yet this 9 Minute short nails it.
Not to mention the set design, felt so real that when I initially watched this short I had strange dreams about it for days.
I hope to see more from this production team! With elements of feminism, racial equality, and support of LGBT I know they have the right minset to create relevant and epic content.
Thanks DUST for hosting this film, love love love it.

Ultimately makes no sense. Still makes me cry
I wish you all had found some way to explain what you meant by eating for the android in this context.
That said, I'm still crying. Good job on every aspect of this short beside the eating problem.
You and your film were very effective.
Hoping you're making more, and that I have the good fortune to bawl over all of them

Great film, I empathise with the R2D2 type robots and androids, I always feel really sad when I watch films or read books with robot characters. The android is really nice too. She really cares for the girl, I don't know why but I am only halfway in and think I will end up crying about this. Aw happy ending, loved your android Dani and the whole cast really!

I'm giving the actress the highest praise that I can: At no point did I think of her as anything but who she was supposed to be. She never once appeared to be an actress. She was always 'the girl trying to save the android'. Well done!

I liked that, to have someone special is very important. And I believe androids (when they become a reality) should have rights. As I get older and older and my body wears out I wish my conscious could be moved to an android.

Nowadays if a PC at work stops working managements orders to fix the machine immediately. If a human is sick and stops working, company fires that person and abandons that human instead of fixing human health.

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the text at the beginning takes away from some of the intrigue. I'd prefer to just figure out what's going on by watching because I'm already hooked.

The age old human quest to defeat death and it’s painful loss on the ones left behind. Conceptually, nothing not told before, but the Android was more lifelike than most I’ve seen.

'your android replica is playing up again,
it's no joke,
When she cums she moans another name,
it's just the spirit of the age,
just the Spirit of the age'

I want MORE! Great film, kinda reminds me of Ghost in the Shell. Would we still have our ghost, or soul if your consciousness was transferred into another body!

All life has a soul, or in my example, universal energy. At least that’s the way I see it. All life is precious whether it be man made or robot made.

Well done. The part about human blood being the catalyst was interesting. I've always thought there's something about blood we don't understand.

Sweet and clever. I wish you hadn't placed the neon heart where you did. To me, it drew me away from the kiss making a tender moment into something forced.

Beautiful, touching storyline. Presentation, acting, setting, details, countless nuance and, of course, love. Just perfect. My eyes are leaking.

It is very unfortunate that we cannot select Japanese closed captions even though the title of this movie is in Japanese.

Yeah, that was very good! Also brought a tear to my eye, the ending did. Very impressive. Well done!

The lengths we will go and the impossible odds we are willing to endure for love.
