A young woman discovers that when life’s monotony has you hemmed in, happiness is taking your own advice and stepping outside your bubble. Bubble by Vicente Manzano More About Bubble: Aurelia works as a Phone Therapist for the eZONE, a utopian neighborhood that has everything you need to live a comfortable life. She's consumed by helping depressed and unhappy people, even though, she's the one who needs the help. She copes with the situation by hiding the problems and locking herself in a bubble, which only traps her in a cycle of consumerism. An introspective journey into her psychology will lead us into a battle with her own darkness and fears. Connect with Vicente Manzano

Wow this is the second time I watched it. I never knew this site even existed! Sure glad I finally found it. As true as the message being shown to everyone, it makes you wonder about yourself.
Meaning, this movie makes you step back to look at your own life inside your personal bubble.
I watched this movie twice.
First time was after surgery, all doped up from the hospital.
Some one spiked my drink from McDonald’s on our way home.
I was in a lot of pain, hospitals rarely give out pain meds once you leave to go home. I was told during our 45 minute drive back, that I was talking to myself from the pain. My face was all red, sweating, hungry, headache now, blurred vision, slumped over holding myself from the pain! All they gave me for pain was extra strength Tylenol. So the 4 of us used the drive through to pick up some food for home. We were only 5 minutes away from home now. Once they got me inside, I ate a little, took the baby extra strength pills, lol, they really did nothing, finished eating, then laid down to rest. 15 minutes later I was up, walking around using my walker, talking better, the whole works.
100% improvement. So we watched this movie Bubble, it was awesome! Trippy! Very good to watch. Find out later my drink was spiked with real adult pain meds lol,
What a great improvement it was!
Then I watched this movie again, today, 100% pain free from surgery but not pain free from my car accident. Still was a good movie!
Only this time it had a different meaning to me. First time was good because I was feeling no pain from the spiked drink. It was a wild trippy time, followed by watching, The Lathe of Heaven and Altered States! Great day that was for me, pain free, watching mind bending movies that put me in a mini out of body short period. Today was more like watching as an observer instead of being the subject!
I do not condone misuse of any thing, but that day the others I was with taking care of me was so worth it. Movies like this are so good for mental healing, at least for me it was. Physically and mentally I was so much better the next day.
What should have been 3-4 days of suffering was gone in 1 day. I still took it easy, I followed all the doctors requirements, did all I was supposed to do. I was not informed about this special treatment for a month lol. Sure glad it all worked out very nicely but never again.

I think sci-fi is a lot of things to a lot of people, sometimes it's tech, sometimes it's adventure, a lot of dust is introspective. and that's fine, seeing things in a different way can be life changing. I really had trouble with this short. From the sound to the constrained view. There wasn't enough dialog or information to offer the viewer a chance to step into the world. It was a bubble all by itself. My respect for the writers, cast and crew keeps me from thumbs downing this. But especially on the 11th of April 2020 we've all been locked up for weeks now in a way. So maybe that's what's colouring my view of this one. But I don't think it earned a thumbs up either. Please continue to explore more. I'm just one voice.

We noticed that all of these videos have tons of comments that are nothing but advertising, NONE OF THE COMMENTS OFFER criticism, they are self lauding parading as comments or critiques, NONE FIND FAULT in any of these productions - its an amusing trend that has swept not just sponsored videos but across the board on the web with online magazines movie reviews from THR, Screen Rant, Collider and so on. The comments are posted by advertising agencies partnered with the producers. The comments are an extension of the videos production teams and NOT viewer comments. Visit West Coast Midnight Run for some actual reviews and critiques!

The aesthetic was intriguing, and I could see how the creators were making statements about how phony certain aspects of modern life has become. However, this seemed way too much like somebody’s bad acid flashback (that only makes any sense to the person experiencing it) from the 60s with an awful soundtrack. I like to give things a chance, meaning I watch things to the end. Unfortunately, this was difficult to tolerate because of the outright noise that sounded like my speakers were damaged.

Beautifully creepy. Maybe I've completely misunderstood it, but I think she represents an addict constantly using a substance when trying to escape a depressing reality. The screen opens up when she takes the 'Joy' pills, smokes a cigarette, and has a drink and finally when uses the 'love' injection. She doesn't escape her bubble into a depressing reality. She retreats into a joyful substance induced one. Kind of depressing really but beautifully done.

This is what happens when people define art merely as self-expression.
Which is a catch-all excuse to cover every immature, underdeveloped whim of an immature, underdeveloped mind.
They should retitle this When Film School Meets Half An Idea Meets Project Deadline.
It tried to go somewhere interesting at first, but then devolved into a disconnected jumble of random nothing masquerading as creativity as the end of semester approached.

Why did this get so many downvotes I thought it was interesting, original, stylized, and mimicked mid to late 60s sci-fi very well. The use of the vignette was unique and its changing sizes were clever. The music also added a lot to it all. Good sets. What are people complaining about, the story Doesn't always have to be so cut and dry for it to be enjoyable. Haven't seen this done this way before - should get some appreciation!

Modern version of a 1960s story of sensory deprivation only she is depriving her self or real contact outside the buble. Sort of like mpodern life, if I am guessing the meaning of the short film correctly
I am a bit in that trap between working and active, in may things to slower, let younger people do those things as I come to terms with sort of retirement. With a bit of bike maintains buying and riding.

This is only one bubble of many bubbles which all of us are in. When she steps out her bubble she realizes that it is just not her, but many others in their own bubble. Then she begins to learn what her life is all about. Each person needs to get to a point in their life when we realize that stepping out of our own self that we can realize not only who we are, but understand that their many like like us.

Couldn't watch the whole thing. I got the you have to be a high hipster to get this 30 seconds in. What the producers don't realize is that that message has already been sent by Timothy Leary in the '60s: Turn On, Tune In & Drop Out.

I kinda love that this defies easy analysis and understanding. The simple viewing of the scene through a circle rather than the usual rectangle has a much bigger impact on the experience than I would've expected.

Happiness is not good for the economy. is the guiding slogan of capitalism, where the endless and unquenchable pursuit of happiness that remains always just out of reach is the standard operating procedure.

Been watching Dust for a couple weeks now. Some are great, many are so so. Maybe a naked boob or butt cheek might make them more interesting. We've all thought it, I seem to be the only one to say it.
reply

Wow a true art piece and super poignant at that! Dust, you have restored my faith in the short film. More like this level of creativity and intellectually stimulating material please!

Lovely wardrobe but I honestly did not get the plot. I would never give it a down vote but had to read some of the comments before being able to get an idea of what it was about.

Me after reading the movie's description after having watched the movie first:
OH! Now I get the parts that weren't quite so obvious. Now it makes sense! ' Lolol

I love the empathy candy bar and the love in a needle as metaphors! Also the circles and spheres representing a bubble as well as actual bubbles was a great touch.

To whoever wrote the synopsis that displays under the video title, my thanks. Without it I would have had no clue as to the point of this short film.

The sound overpowered everything. the acting, script, just everything. its like someone tried to make a video out of an EDM or trance.

I’m sure some art students will have a lot to say about this but I liked it because it goes well with this massive bag of shrooms.
reply

I absolutely love the use of 60's design and fashion elements used in this short! We need to bring some of it back into modern life.
reply

I don't think I was smart enough to understand this. At the end did she have an epiphany or were her contacts giving her grief
reply

To Matt Haig who stated Happiness isn't good for the economy
If everyone's happy, then eff the economy.
The reverse is not true.

A true work of psychedelic art. Much love to the creative team and the amazing actress from a fellow sci-fi storyteller
reply

There was a lot of weird artistic expression in the 60's and this reminds me of them. Very dark and depressing.

A simple straight forward metaphor for living in a social media/materialist bubble. I thought that was very good!

Never thought I'd be disappointed with a Dust short. Plodding with an obvious end. Keep these in film school.

That was fantastic! Original, mysterious, thought provoking. Got some lynchian vibes from this little gem.

It is good art and looks/sounds good, but I just feel like I wasted my time watching this video. Sorry.
