Sci-Fi Short Film: PIA - DUST How did her husbands memorys get inside a stolen, black market, Pia And what does that leave them with now More heartache, either the authorities find him and either destroy his memory, or forces him to work a petty job forever. OR. He could stay there and it could be awkward and really weird between them too, and tell what to the daughter That her dads memory is in a female slave bot I wasnt a huge fan of this one.

I didn't care for it. The fact that he came back as a woman just didn't fit. The fact that she recognized her boyfriend/husband so quickly didn't add up. The concept was already done in movies like robocop. There was no indication in the video that made the watcher think that the guy's memories would be transported into a robot. I'm wondering if everyone who commented was watching the same short.

This is one of the best stories ever presented by DUST. Much credit for packing so much content, in so many layers, into a well acted, unique story. I know, everyone here seems to want to make jokes and so on, but I see so much more in this.
However, I will have to admit, the 1980s Macintosh was a bit odd, and the futuristic 3 wheeled police car, well. ..

The story started out all right, great acting and full of emotion, then it just got cold, I could have done without the bad cop scene or the Michael Jackson jacket, and it really isn’t believable that anyone could have an apartment that large in San Francisco. By the way lady, why is your two year old in a box in the spare room full of junk

How much of the body is used to make an android The tears appear real, so I conclude the head is mostly human. If the rest of the body is equally human, why convert his body to female Are there no male PIAs Is his brain intact or is the writer postulating that memories are also stored in other parts of the body

Dust has uploaded other films about replacing your loved ones with robots before, but usually they look like the person they're replacing. This way makes more sense to me, all that customization would be expensive and probably just get you into uncanny valley territory rather than a satisfying facsimile.

A lot of good subtleties in this movie. The use of light. The last scene where the character of the mother has no dialogue and just stands at the doorway and her subtle facial expression in how she looks on. Very authentic.
Even cops still being jerks in the future.

I see I'm not the only one who likes to mount rotating searchlights outside my windows. :-D
(or maybe that's part of the alarm system to help police locate the home with the emergency, in which case you'd think she would want to turn that off)

What comes next
(Yes, the 'Synth' inhabits
some of the past memories

Addition:
Both major female actresses
are extremely beautiful.

These videos stories and characters are done so well it's a shame that you haven't really pursued more of them with a longer duration to build the characters and the story. Nevertheless, really nice.
reply

Was a wonderful example of how quickly a well-written story can draw you into the characters. If you guys can do this in 16 minutes, I would love to see what you can do in 90 mins. or more.

This was an amazing story, and the timing for everything was absolutely perfect. The slow reveal just kept burning, too. DUST always publishes quality work, but this one is film festival worthy!

Can you turn up the volume just like. a little more. Please! :) (its at max on every setting and still whispering at the start its not evenly mixed on many of these movies sadly)
reply

Can't hear what the cop is saying into the radio because the background noise is too loud. Why are people always seemingly whispering over loud sound effects

Whenever I get this feeling of enlightenment/awareness, I watch one of these videos from DUST and wham, I'm right back in my dark little world of confusion.
reply

Why don't you guys list the actor's names in the description I guess I can watch the credits, but it's so nice to have that information in script.

Internet Propaganda: Listen to this heartwarming tale about mass produced androids.
IRL Situations: Mass produced androids ruin everything.

So let’s not gloss over the fact that’s Ajay Naidu in the beginning. He doesn’t seem so angry about a paper jam this time: D

The whole time I'm watching this and there's only thing that's gnawing at me. Is no one seriously gonna pop that zit on her forehead

I would pay a large sum of money to see a sci-fi short that had nothing to do with feelings and emotions. I want sci-fi not emo.

Excellent strange but weirdly understandable, some great actors, writers, directors and scriptwriters out there.

My only problem with this is that you would not be discussing the paperwork in the hallway over the deceased like that.
