OK, the twist: One of the versions of his older self realizes that the only reason he exists is that at some point in the future the guy gets in a time machine to go back and save his girlfriend, but if she doesn't die then he won't come into existence, so all the older versions keep making sure that the girl dies, or they kill her in order to make sure that the guy will definitely use the time machine and bring them into existence.

Actually that was excellent. Notice the last scene. looks like Zorg (played by Gary Oldman in the Fifth Element) when all his plans fail and he laughs / cries at the same time. Well done! Well written, well acted and well shot. And just long enough.
reply

Why the hell would he have a hard time believing it after so many versions of his future self have showed up saying the same thing If he didn’t believe them then he’d think he was going insane. Either way his attitude makes no sense.
reply

Can someone explain this to me. _. I feel dumb cuz everyone seems to love it but i don't get it. Literally nothing happens, just different variations of a guy talking to his younger self. Where is the story The purpose Resolution

A big thank you to you fellow viewers who type out a synopsis of your interpretation of these short films. It makes the watching experience so much more fulfilling than to be left in the dark after a cliffhanger! Don’t ever stop!

The movie was brilliant. I'm confused with the ending though. If all the different versions were from different 'multiverse', then how they ended up in the same universe
reply

Common re-occuring plotline. Good variation of the theme though, nicely done with the 'different' characters. The time-space continuum will be stretched to hell after that lot.

A prequel to my comment.
It would be nice to see a sequel to this short.
Even an indefinite number of prequels and sequels.

He should have told himself stuff only he would know and show him scars, freckles tattoos. SOMETHING that would show they're the same person

My top question is how long have those guys been down in that basement room Do they do this every Saturday evening, come back and regroup
reply

My take on the ending: The glass didn't break, as warned, indicating the creation of a new future -- one where the girl was saved.
reply

Did anyone else notice, at 2: 39 the younger guy's birthmark is on the RIGHT side Part of the storyline or production/ makeup flub
reply

One of the best. I saw more than 300 short SCI-FI movies, and yours belongs to the top 10. Thanks. Wonderful idea, perfectly brought.
reply

It's so true. Regardless the warnings, regardless the intuition, regardless knowledge, we always make damn near the same mistakes.
reply

No, I didn't see a resemblance. Umm. ok, this must be the dimension where superman can put on glasses and be unrecognizable.
reply

That was AWESOME! This would make a phenomenal full length movie. I feel like there's so much more I want/have to see!
reply

Unfortunately free will is a illusion but random chains of events do happen, seldom repeat and can't be predicted.
reply

Neither she nor he was worth saving apparently lmao didn't like a single iteration of him. Loved the story tho
reply

THIS WAS INGENIOUS!
basically he created alternates of him self. like the Kang the conqueror from marvel

reply

I really enjoyed this; it held my attention and loved the ending. Good job to the folks who made this.
reply

Must just be me then I don't like stories without endings, just comes across as lazy or a lack of ideas.
reply

I love how all the questions open up new possibilities and different versions of himself.
reply

Wow Great concept and very well executed. This definitely deserves a full length, or more.
reply

Ah yes, another mediocre DUST short that doesn't actually tell a story. Boy these are tedious.
reply

Great work Peter and Luke! The editing was spot on, so seamless! Made for a powerful reveal: )
reply

I have a new theory
. lol. hes the one who killed the woman he loved originally

reply

Another great short. well done Dust, clever and leaves me worrying about the female!
reply

The guy that back facing us at the start sound like Connor from Detroit: Become Human.
reply

Dust I'm gonna need you to go ahead and do a full movie or series on this one.
reply

I feel like this should be a full movie, it makes the viewer want to see more of it.
reply

i spent most of that trying to work out how that did the fantastic aged makeup
reply

That migrating mole & eye color shifts are why you follow the instructions.
reply

Cool! Cool construction, more realistic than most time travelling stories.
reply

Now THIS is what I come to Dust for! this was awesome! and such good acting
reply

Is it wrong to want to smack the younger version around until he takes it all in
