I've been a fan of these games since the PS2 days. The OG trilogy and Gladiator (or Deadlocked) still are some of my favorites. I haven't played all the PS3 titles and Rift Apart is still on the list, although I'm looking forward to playing it. And what comes to the PS4 remake. ooh boy. It took me 5 years to platinum, mostly because I kind of had a falling out with the game. It looked really beautiful, but otherwise I'm still not a huge fan of it. Then, finally back in 2021 I was hit with this feeling that I didn't want to keep having this game taunting me any longer. So I got to playing through it. again and again, and again. all this extra grinding only because this blasted Groovitron trophy wouldn't pop. I finished the game and started another playthrough. On the last couple playthroughs I was so done that I skipped all the cutscenes, turned off both the game's music and my brain, and listened to my own tunes from Spotify. I was completely on autopilot from that moment. And then finally, after mercilessly spamming the Groovitron on every enemy I encountered, the platinum trophy was finally mine. Needless to say that after the overdose I've yet to touch the game again.

The worst problem about 2016's remake is the. ugh, -humour-.
First RnC was special for being the first, rough on the edges, Ratchet being a total dick and that anti-corporation humour.
All of that is lacking from 2016 in favour of humour for today's? - I guess back then's kids, but dunno if kids from 2016 were any different from 2023's ones, can't tell a difference) and that didn't stick.
It's a great game to play but story, characters and humor are a big downgrade when compared to the original.
Also don't know how Dr. Nefarious should be taken, I know it's basically a retelling of Qwark's so that makes it non-canon BUT it also shows how he (Qwark) supposidly won his first ) fight against Nefarious as the Holo-Vid games from RnC 3 show.
It's a mess. A very fun to play mess but outside of music, gameplay and graphics, the rest is incoherent.

Man, being a 2002 baby- Growing up watching my dad play and collect these games, and then playing them myself when I was old enough, I've played all of them up until the now PS5 exclusive game, (Which I'll probably never play unfortunately) It's just bonkers to see where these guys have gone. I remember thinking the 4th or 5th game was wild, then the movie came out- (And while imo pretty blah story wise- There's no denying how nice it was visually) And now I finished watching a playthrough of the last game. It's gorgeous, and I ADORE how they semi re-designed some of the first games enemies and brought them back! It was really cool to see some first game enemies in such high quality: D

my very first console was a PSP that I got for Christmas, R&C Size Matters came with it. My BIL and sister gifted it to me, (RIP BIL, one of my fond memories) and loved it. Sadly, it was stolen a few years later. I never had the chance to play the other ones but once I got the PS5 recently, I saw the remake was for sale. I got it, finished it and now playing Rift Apart. The graphics back then have changed, my young mind still remembers it as the visuals in today's game. -

Honestly this new one, rift apart is amazing. I grew up in ratchet and clank games, more specifically the good ones lol like 1, 2, and 3. Also I personally was a big fan of deadlocked but sadly everyone else felt differently. Anyways when I booted up rift apart. my mind was blown. I was in awe. The amount of progress the game had made and just what I was playing was stunning and beautiful. Ratchet and clank will always be in my top favorite games of my entire life

This is still my favorite game today. the 1st 4 to be exact. I saw the rift apart preview, but honestly when i saw the female character, i wasn't interested in it. It was no longer a guys game. Or better yet. i saw it as the beginning of the woke stuff starting to creep in, which i knew would eventually happen. and i was thinking well, there's that.

I still don't understand why Ratchet and clank deadlock, called ratchet and clank gladiator in my country, was never well received
Yes sure it was a change from the tested formula, but it was, at least for me, a welcome spin off with great character design and an awesome arsenal, as well as really epic vehicles to drive about
Anyone agree?

i knew it, i always said that the design of jack and dexter (my favorite game) and ratchet & clank were very similar, i even thought they were from the same producer or that the same design team made both games-
i just wish they would make a new franchise for jack and dexter, it's the only thing i ask for in life kkkk

I don't think rift apart was a true next-gen experience on PS5, good game yes but personally enjoyed the PS4 Ratchet & Clank a lot more but i am looking forward to the next one and hope we do get another one on PS5 truly harnessing the power of the console, i think rift apart was more of a test going into PS5.

As good as Rift Apart was gameplay and graphic wise, I sorely miss the style of the PS2 titles, especially the music and atmosphere. The story also isnt as good imho, the characters feel flat and overall too child friendly, compared to the PS2 ones. I hope they decide to go back on that.
reply

One of the very few series that simply doesn't have a bad entry (though full frontal assault is easily the worst of them)
Really hope to see more of Rivet and Kit in the future, I enjoyed their personalities a lot, as well as some of Rivet's more questionable fan art

As much as the new one looks really cool, the ps3 versions will always hit different. Personally A Crack In Time was my favorite. The next thing insomniac should do is remaster the ratchet and clank collection and future series for ps5 or ps6. That would be REALLY awesome!
reply

I find it interesting that some critics criticized the game as having characters that too much like a teenager among other things. Looking back from today, the style and story of the game, is very nostalgic for the era and feels fresh. Funny how time changes things.

I've never played the og ps2 ones, I'll have to emulate them, never had a ps2! I did have all the spyro games on ps1.
And I just bought the ps3 games and dig out my og 40g ps3 lol.
The games look horrible on a 100 inch 4k TV -

reply

Missed opportunity on Insomniac's part, but for the 20th anniversary of Ratchet and Clank, they could've released a remastered collection of Tools of Destruction, A Crack in Time and Into the Nexus for the PS4. That would've been so great
reply

Ratchet and Clank Ritf Apart is a game that blew me away and was probably the most impressive game I've seen in a while, and it's also impressive that this franchise is one of the strongest out there
reply

Have to be my favourite games I played on PS2, though I-ve not owned a Sony console since so I-ve never experienced the newer games but great to see its still going but that PS5 game does look amazing-
reply

I love Rift Apart this far, never played the series and is my first game in PC, I think is a good game but 15 games in 3 gen of consoles? I think this should give Mario treatment and 1 per console.
reply

Up your Arsenal is my all time favorite R&C game. there was so much to play for in those games not just trying to beat the story. Then going back and finding all the secret areas and what not.
reply

I love every ratchet and clank game
I still play them on the PS3
I have a copy of Rift Apart. however, I cannot play it as I'm waiting for the PS5 to be released over here in the UK

reply

i did played the first 4 on the list and yes noting afther that maybe apart from the newest deserve ther sail to the sole fact that rachet and clank got amzing start point on the first 4
reply

It-s funny how the mind works and makes every game of the past-s graphics look better in our head. I guess it-s just based on how your mind processes it at the time.
reply

Going Commando, Future Tools of Destruction, and Especially A Crack In Time, are some of the best platformers ever made. And some of the best games I've ever played.
reply

I k ow im a year late on the butthe Ratchet & Clank Future story did not end with Into The Nexus because Rift Apart is the sequel to Into The Nexus lol
reply

I wish they ported Ratchet and Clank Size matters on ps5 it was my first ratchet and clank game ever on PSP and in life. so it holds a special place
reply

No, the levels in RaC 3 were NOT bigger than in 1 and 2. They were much smaller, and the graphics were NOT better. But the combat was better.
reply

I was so confused when it was called -ratchet: deadlocked, - feel like you should mention the name of the title in different parts of the world.
reply

I think my phone is listening to me because I just beat Ratchet and Clank Rift apart like 10 minutes ago and now this shows up on my page
reply

Funny how game development for the PS2 era takes 2-3 years. Now it takes more than 4-5 years even more for largest open world games
reply

I feel the first 3 games had so much more content and lore than the last chapters, which are still great but feel a bit empty
