I think paid mods are a fine idea, with three caveats:
- If they want to make money off of it, they need to tightly control it. This means policing it for people who try to repackage free mods made by other people, making sure shit works and continues to work, etc.
- The vast majority of the money needs to go to the mod creator, and it should remain optional.
- The prices need to be right. I very often think too much is charged for DLC in general, and this stands here too. You trying to sell me a gun in a game with dozens of guns? Cool, $1 or less. A skin? Similar if it's awesome and changes a lot (more like a mesh rework level of -skin-, not just colour/pattern changes), less if not. Massive, expanded area with quests and story and NPCs? Sure, $5-$10, possibly more. None of this $5 for power armour that looks a little different. Maybe if you were introducing fun to use power armour into a game that had nothing like it, then charge me $5 for it, but for just a looks redesign, with maybe some stats changes or something? That's ridiculous. This shit should be loose change where they make money on volume.

I think that if Bethesda wants to partner with the modders and release paid mods, then they should be DLC sized mods that they are selling. I would be willing to put down some money for a large, fleshed out DLC by some of the modders that have been creating really quality content for Skyrim for a long time. Plus the modders would have further incentive to create mods that are in demand, but are also difficult and time-consuming to make. If Bethesda wants this to go over well, I believe this is what they need to do, because right now it's just not being implemented correctly.

Red dead was boring af and twice(years apart) I got bored right after the 1st act ended and u crossed the huge river....maybe I side quested too much, maybe I died and spawned ina new town with advanced guns for sale,,but the game is not even close to the same category of fun that Bully,GTA,Manhunt is/was.... maybe Rockstar will realize breaking in a horse isn-t fun..that-s equivalent to fixing a broken car in the game...

I actually quite like the creation club cuz you can get pretty high quality mods that don't disable achievements. So long as they keep putting 100% off sales out there, I think it could turn out quite well.

I think the paid mods thing with Bethesda actually gives modders the opportunity to bring their custom art assets to consoles, which is something the consoles distributors do not otherwise allow.

just give a patreon page link for the damn mods on their site so those that want to donate money to the modder can. Easy peesy everyone walks away happy. End of story!

I won't be paying for mods, I will continue to donate to the modders who's mods I enjoy.
Why does Bethesda deserve any cut out of that, I already paid for the game.
