I think about thing what made this game so great is that during that time, not all games actually needed a gaming PC to run games. Back then I played Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Assassin's Creed 2, etc just on integrated graphics. I wasn't having any Nvidia graphics card back then but still Intel was able to run games. Crysis brought the idea that for playing games, you actually need a Gaming PC or Gaming laptop. And now as how even latest gaming laptops are coming with RTX graphics, even if we get a new Crysis which might again become a pinnacle of gaming again, I am sure as long as everyone are having atleast a entry level RTX card, they would be able to run the game.

I'll still blame consoles. Trash baskets that pretend they can push out decent graphics, punshing the player with low fps, more often than not locked to some ridiculously low value. Words cannot describe just how amasing it is to play on a decently high fps. When I got myself a 144Hz monitor, I honestly did not expect all that much. But the difference in the experience between my old 60Hz monitor and this one which more than doubles the pixel response times, is absolutely staggering. In my opinion, companies pursuing decent frame rates must be made into a life line for game making. And consoles are incompatible with the idea. That is all.

Excellent video Falcon! I feel pretty much the exact same way. I broke the bank making a system capable of playing this back in the day, and boy was I pissed when I was getting 18 fps with everything maxed! But man was it AWESOME and the fact that it is STILL a benchmark today is a testament to what a technical marvel it is, but like you said it was also SUPER fun to play. This is still my favorite FPS ever and sadly this should have set the bar moving forward, but unfortunately it became THE bar and it looks like everything in the future at least single player FPS wise (if not EVERYTHING) will fall WELL below it.

To be honest this video made me a little sad... It reminded me how amazing games were in the past. These days all games are money gouging and pay to win. Game company's need to be more like Crytek and be innovative and stop following the main stream crap!
Even to this day in 2021, Crysis is still one of the best games I've ever played.

i dunno man it was really fun to play, switch between speed, strength and balance along with sprinting, crouching, sliding, taking cover, managing your ammo, jumping and lying down to defeat your opponents isn't something that a lot of fps do. it felt like a hack and slash game except it's shoot and dash :p

Watching this after Crysis 4's announcement, really hope that 4th installment will be as sandbox-y, with open-ended levels, just like the first one and with mod support... Ah, I'd play the shit out of it so much... But, only time will tell how Crysis 4 will end up being like.

Thanks to Game Pass I'm playing the original on Xbox One (and yes it can play it) and because of this my next gen console has changed from the PS5 to the Xbox Series X as having over a hundred games instantly with revisions made monthly is simply too good to pass up.

Just found an unopened copy of crysis 2 on my ps3 shelf and I-ve been playing it for some hours and I gotta say it does live up to the expectations. Graphics are unbelievable (for ps3 standards) and gameplay is really fun and immersive. Now I wanna play the og lol
