How is epic games' aggressive exclusive strategy affecting pc gaming?
video description
Let's wake up, monopolies are not great! (the only Monopoly I love, is the damn board game in my closet!). Steam (for example), has gotten SO comfortable that they let long sought after IP's (-cough- HALF-LIFE -cough cough COUGH-) rot in the gutter. Why would they need to make a new game (innovate), when they can just keep on raking in that sweet sweet uncontested cash-flow?
So, all in all. I am not mad about Epic Games Store getting any title for a timed-exclusive (I'll log right in there and download it pretending its Steam ;)). I hope they snag so many games that Steam shits it pants (unrealistic, but hey I can dream and Epic has the capital to throw their weight). Basically, I just hope they give Steam a run for their money.
I know that news broke recently that EGS acquired Mechwarrior 5, but I am not going to let my love for Battletech (for the past 20 years) be shadowed by minute amounts of anger over an even smaller amount of platform/portal inconvenience.

I just say that what is the reason to split PC gaming this much?
Does it worth sacrificing our popular launcher to get a game? The reason of this exclusivity, for me is that epic is not just owned by tencet, but it's own game that releases.
I just do a direct comparison. Epic's most known game is fortnite and this is a thing i don't need to tell. But what about steam(valve)? CS:GO and DOTA 2.
NOW THE MAIN QUESTSIONS:
1-witch game do you (or did you or you will)spend real money on?
2-how much do you think these two compaines have made money from these games?
Just look at fornite's championship prizes.doesn't this company has that much money that it could refuse a cut from the money from other purchases?(NOTE:epic games only take 12% of the game's price and takes no cut for DLCs or anything else)
Please end this fight as soon as possible PC gamers have enough trouble with console exclusive games(e.g. RDR2). We don't need and we dont like a ((CIVIL WAR))in this platform.

I will never use epic as long as they use what I see as unethical practices. I will just wait for these games to come out on steam or other platforms when the exclusivity deal ends. End of the day these days I have more than enough games to keep me occupied, I don't need to buy these games on day one even if I would like to.
I disagree about being against voting with your wallet. The dev is already getting their money from Epic, so are they really missing your money? No. Let's be realistic for them to take these deals they must be getting substantial amounts. And if you are doing what I'm doing buying when its released elsewhere they are still going to get money off you, just not through epic.

what is good for gamers is a single launcher? that's kind of tantamount to saying what's good for consumers is a single store. I don't really understand how that argument holds up to monopolies and their negative affects on consumers. And nintendo has payed for exclusivity forever, they just had octopath traveler, a paid third party exclusive. Sony had detroit become human, another paid third party exclusive. You are being unfortunately just as hypocritical as the angry masses on this one falcon, expected a bit more from you.

Want to play satisfactory even overlooking all the risks its so hard to want to use the epic launcher especially being just one game even owning overwatch and having to use blizzard launcher or 76 bethesda launcher the epic games store is so bad even compared to bethesda store i hate having to download a specific launcher for one game but if i didnt have a chance of spyware and backdoors i would download it but just leaves such a bad taste so i have to let satisfactory pass until the year thing goes

If Epic Games launcher was like Origin or Uplay I would have a problem with it. Games that your company create can have their own launcher, no problem with that but this competition and exclusivity is just hurting the developers and not Steam or Epic Games, not in the same way and some gamers as well. The only good thing I guess that can come from this is that Steam will let developers who put their games on their platform keep more of the money that they gain from selling the game.

I really don't mind any of it. I know where all my games are. I have all systems, and different games on each. It is harder to pull out my Alienware laptop and play on any launcher at all having been previously on my Xbox than actually clicking on a different icon to get to my game. If it is a good game, I will buy it. Sinking City is a classic example from me. Epic can have my money for that game, even though I want it on my Xbox technically. I have several games on EGS.

I didn't mind Epic being -competition- to steam at first, the better rates for developers and things seemed great, more money for devs = less studios that will have to be eaten by EA or Activision, more games coming out, less studios closing and more happy people all around as far as profits go. However... Once you pull something like exclusivity even temporarily, that ticks me off. That's like turning PC into two consoles. This isnt cool.

Considering everything I'm hearing about Epic's recent sale news, coupled with the problems they've had with possible viruses and their apparent apathy toward building a community this many months in, I have to say that, despite the exclusivity of a couple of titles that still have a while to come out, I'm not interested in giving them my business at all. We'll see if that changes, but I'm not sensing that it will. Change my mind, Epic.

I didn-t buy metro exodus because I didn-t want another launcher nor do I like the fact that it-s exclusive to that launcher. I already have uplay blizzard orgin and steam. Not to mention vortex and mod organizer for fallout and Skyrim. It just gets to be a bit much. If metro exodus had of been on steam it probably would be 20% off by now and I would have grabbed it. I think it hurt their sales.
