The worlds we occupy in video games can be vast and large... but as time passes, they seem to get ever more complicated. What goes into their creation, and how do people put them together. Let's discuss

welp i want to make a open world mmorpg where the surface is pure nice nature and most of cities and civilization went underground fortified self sustainable bunkers houses ready for any disasters i want the character to able to auto battle/crafting 24/7 (optional) i want it to have all war machines that exist, tanks, war planes, submarines, drones etc and i want zombies demons and all sorts of ugly monstrous creatures to be the targets to get rewarded loots and magical powers blessings from heaven for doing good things like shooting a demonic zombie creature in the head lol and even tho i mention magics i want some realism like all the elements in periodic table and how u can create stuff based on that and where to extract them so there is a lil educational stuff into it and maybe people who play the game will sharpen skills in real life and maybe also add all plants and animal species if possible and add good karma bad karma stuff like in the game fallout so there is a bit of consequence for bad behavior and reward for good

This is actually pretty accurate, there is one thing he missed which is how open worlds are split up into chunks so if you go into one part of the map, it will auto load the adjacent tiles in the background. And what he said about procedural stuff is true, we have basically gotten to the point where you can paint a grassy patch and have it automatically populate with plants and then if you don't like how its placed you paint it out and manually add in what you want. Procedural generation helps you with the broad strokes and then you cull or add details until it looks how you want.

Lets just remember what Age of Mythology allowed you to do back 15+ yers ago.The same way generator to make maps, trees etc .But in less graphics quality.Dont remember if you could insert your custom made characters etc in the maps.Perhups allowed you only to insert -in game- data.I will check

Ooof ooof oooooof. This didnt age well with Cyberpunk 2077 expectation xD the game's open world is a joke, textures are lame early 2010s without much parallax or photogrammetry elements, AI is worse than Gta 1's. Just OoooooOooOOOooOof...

Someone called heugo guardia neuman in another video comment told that he made cyberpunk 2077 in 60 days and sold it to CD Projekt Red for 20 bucks.

-fully hand crafted open world- I'm pretty sure open worlds use procedural generation nowadays. I guess this video is two years old though..

I know there are a lot of glitches and missing content, but the graphics (on high), the soundtrack, and the map of Cyberpunk 2077 is amazing

Let's all hope that pioneers of the open world genre won't screw up
Grand Theft Auto VI
The Elder Scrolls VI
And maybe Bully 2.

Great video!
It would be good if you could put the links to the videos you mention (e.g. the Ubisoft ones) in the description!
