10 Times Games Tricked Us Into STRESSING OUT jsullivan2112: I don't think Dragon Rot qualifies as inconsequential, it definitely isn t. Dragonrot decreases your chances of Unseen Aid, it drops from 30% probability down to 3%. So basically your chances of losing all your money and experience when you die is far greater. That's a more important factor that you left out. Yes you can cure Dragonrot but only by buying Dragon's Blood Droplets or finding them and killing some bosses. It doesn't matter that much later on in subsequent play-throughs where you're maxed out but good luck getting there if you keep dying and losing all your shit.

I remember my first play through in RDR2 after the Hosea bear hunt I decided to hunt all of the reachable legendary animals at once. I got all the ones I could minus the Moose and Elk considering I could only carry one big pelt at a time, but on the way to the trapper I got ambushed by a Murfreesboro brood shotgun guy and died and I thought that I would lose all of those pelts. I didn't know that if you die with legendary pelts they are like automatically given to the trapper. Luckily I found this out before I restarted and had to play through that whole snow chapter lol. Needless to say for about 5 minutes I was freaking out.

Persona 5 hit game pass recently and so I was giving it a try having never tried a persona game. I got a little stressed out trying to make my way to school and then trying to find the faculty office without any indication as to where they may be on the map or otherwise. I eventually discovered that there were signs in English (however small) for the subway but as far as I can tell there was no sign at all to let you know where the faculty office was out of probably 100 rooms. In hindsight, I can only imagine the developer wanted you to feel late to class.

What really got me about Hellblade, was when playing with headphones it gave me such a sense of anxiety playing throughout the game because I constantly heard her inner voices coming from every direction. I applaud Ninja Theory for making this game with spatial surround recording and having to consult real Psychologists and people who really suffer from that mental illness, just the whole process they went through to make this game feel authentic. Can't wait for the sequel, the gameplay trailer for Senua's Saga looked amazing!

I think the dark rot in Hellblade is more to the dealing with illness message the game has. Think about it. If the dark rot reaches your head you will lose all progress. The dark rot being negativity, dark thoughts, etc. If that gets back inside your head again you will lose all the progress you've made to become healthy and happy. Meaning you have to work to keep the bad things at bay or they will consume you and you will lose what you've already worked to build. If it reaches your head, you will lose all progress.

2 bonus examples are Hades (2018) which made popular you died and lost progress but you can do next run stronger. Rust is hades-like every month reseting worlds but researchs are permanent. The second example is For the king (2017) which is a rpg like at first glance until you notice the chaos bar is doing funny things to your world (makes exemies stronger, etc. Some mobs can steal your money and some boss smelt an armor piece with acid. Not for casual gamers.

Surprised not to see Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem on the list. If there ever was a game that constantly tricked the player in clever ways, this would be it. It would randomly pretend to delete your save file while you try to save, make it look like the tv turned off, mute the volume, give you all kinds of ammo just to reveal it was a hallucination, suddenly make the character die or lose limbs etc. Really creative stuff.

Damn, I quit hellblade bc the rot was going up so much even though I very rarely died, felt like one mistake would make me have to redo everything. Wasn t enjoying the game enough to redo all those puzzles but would ve finished it if it didn t seem like that would be inevitable.
I wonder how many others quit bc getting the ending didn t seem worth going through all those puzzles and super slow walking sections again.

Man I gotta admit hellblade made me extra careful and made me with 200% of my brain
It was so scary thinking you might start over at any moment bc you are playing like a toddler
I mean hellblade isn t the greatest thing in the world and some aspects of it were really rough around the edges but yeah
I was on toes and always awake and equally scared of any upcoming threat the game throws at me

I m surprised that Bioshock Infinite didn t make the list.
When the bird monster was destroying the tower and you have to escape.
It seems like the escape sequence of any other game where you have to get out in time, but NOPE. It doesn t matter how long you sit around, the giant bird can t actually get you, and the tower is never actually destroyed until you eventually leave.

I wish I could play hellblade for the first time again. Me and my friend took turns playing that game and we hadn't played games together in 10 years but he thought it looked cool so we passed the controller back and forth every half hour and had so much fun figuring out the illusion sections. The permadeath function had us worried the whole time too. Great game.

Hellblade with headphones on stressed me tf out. That game lies to u multiple times, mentally drains you with puzzles and then keeps u on edge with combat where senua is talking to herself the whole time yelling behind you in a whisper. Need surround sound headphones for the full experience but damn. I have never enjoyed such a dreadful game so much.

I enjoyed Senua's Sacrifice but after about an hour of that unwinable fight I just stopped playing. I didn't know you were suppose to lose and as I have strong feelings against the Koyabashi Maru scenario I wasn't going to lay down and let her get killed. I have no clue how that game ends and was later surprised that there was a part 2 in the works.

Suggestion for Part 2 - Animal Crossing on the GameCube. Resetti literally fake shutting your game off for forgetting to save. He threatens you repeatedly for forgetting to save, and then he eventually says your game is getting deleted and shuts the screen black. I have NEVER been so stressed playing a game in my life

Speaking as a bipolar dude who has experienced schizoid mania(or whatever it s called, severe paranoia) hellblade was so far off the mark I stopped playing it. Everyone loves it and thinks it s amazing but if you ve ever actually experienced that side of mental illness it s absolute trash.
