I will say I absolutely loved my nyko switch dock as I was flying around for work constantly and not needing my original bulky dock was fantastic. Alas, it did indeed brick my launch day unit. On the bright side I was still at the tail end of warranty so I got it fixed, BUT it was before save data backups were a thing so I lost all my save data Everything from BOTW to Xenoblade 2.
Also to add to how it bricks it I do agree it had to be caused by the port, however it didn t just make it unable to charge it made it unable to boot even with a fresh battery. I remember plugging it in and watching the screen cut off and then go grey and it was all she wrote

On the note of that alternative dock, I'm fairly certain that's by design on the handheld developer's part.
Now, I definitely didn't sign an NDA to work support for them, so I wouldn't know anything about it, but I've heard they even stake your warranty on whether or not you're using the correct charger.
Now, to my mind, a USB C charger is a USB C charger, so long as the supply you're using matches the right power specs, but apparently anything other than a properly N o branded charger causes damage.
I can't imagine why that would be except if they've made some kind of modification to ensure that's the case.

The acrylic switch box is actually great for a place that has like a game room for public to use. I work at a library and we have used these for other consoles and we bolt the acrylic box to whatever furniture the console is sitting on. It is a limited use and yes they are easy to break open but they serve the purpose of slowing down or making enough noise to give staff a chance to notice. Now granted this is a very niche thing but they do serve a purpose.

With the dust cover. take it off before you use your console. It's meant to keep dust off of it when it's not being used. Maybe you go away on vacation and you don't want to come back to dust on your console? Or you have multiple consoles and just don't use one of them for extended periods of time and don't want to let it get convered in dust? Makes sense to me. Might get one, honestly. Haven't used my PS5 in a month or so.

Immediately noticing the dock protector, the dock can and generally will scratch the screen on the Switch. Even the upgraded models are prone to it, especially if you let dust build up inside. Sure, a screen protector can protect it too, but several people were homebrewing solutions to the dock, like draping a microfiber cloth over the front rails, so that product was actually pretty useful to the right people.

The joystick sponge rings are supposed to shorten travel time, hypothetically improving aim and response time. I don't think it works in practice with a piece of sponge, but check out the Azeron and the resistance ring you can add to made WASD movement on a joystick closer to actual controller movement and you'll get what they are going for. But also don't buy it, it probably doesn't work in this iteration.

The security box thing for the switch would be good for businesses that set up break rooms with gaming for their employees. The box would need to be mounted permanently for it to work properly. I used to work at a DirecTV call center and they had a GameCube with Mario Kart set up for us to play and they had a security box like this for it so someone didn't steal the game or console.

#15 was probably born from the idea that If you've got one of the special edition version docks, but is only even still a thing because of ppl who have a skin on their dock that you can't buy anymore or stickers (I. E. I have some cool stickers that came with the guitar hero games on my PS5 headphones, it would be nice to have a way to make sure those are well preserved on there)

Most of these products are just misread, they can be useful Specially the Ps5 dust cover, u only play 10 percent of the time on ur console, 90 percent of the time it will cover it from dust and also while gaming Exhausts wont let Dust enter the console, only intakes will, not to mention the GOal is to keep the exterior clean as well without needing constant cleaning.

BUT Number 9 actually is useful. Its not meant for home use. Its meant for use where u have some kids coming every week and have plenty of people whod notice a someone trying to get behind the wall mounted tv and hear it getting broken but wouldnt notice it being slipped out and put in a bag or something if it wasnt in that case. Thats how we use it at my job.

6: 58 how is a dust cover something you need to avoid tho? That s actually a pretty cool thing to have to protect ur console from dust falling in it and getting sucked up by the fans. Obviously it s made for the console to be standing, because in horizontal mode you can just wipe the dust off the side, yk where it s not gonna fall into the cracks and stuff

#10 is not really a bad product honestly. I have a cover for both my PS5 and my Series X and can see a noticeable difference. I only use it at night when off to help reduce dust buildup.
My only issue is when I forget to remove the cover the next day before playing. And I only remember because the console will sound like a Jet getting ready to takeoff

My wife and I got our youngest daughter a skin for her switch and its dock to tell it apart from her older sisters. The cover would have prevented it from slowly peeling itself off the dock. We wouldn't have cared enough to buy a cover since the switch skin was the only part that mattered, but it does have one potential use.

#5 there's a thing like this that actually HAS a purpose, they're called stick locks from the LTT store. They're meant specifically for travel, cover the whole stick from dust and are universal. I find Theyre actually a really good alternative to buying a hard carrying case

I'm all for dust covers. They work as expected. It's not meant to stay on the device while it's running, but it's really not that hard to take it off and put it back on when you're done playing. Beats regularly opening up your console to clean it, that's for sure.

The dust covers are meant for storage which is really sensible. Ever got an old console out of the loft before? Obviously the dust covers are not meant when the device is in use. Seems like a bit of an obtuse observation from Falcon tbh that s all.

The switch cover could be cool if you were artistic, and wanted to do designs on the inside of it.
It would be really cool if you used dry-erase markers, then you could have a different design every week, or month on your switch console.

Nyko dock happened to me. Went to a friend s place that had one and put my Switch in to play something and just bricked it. It was something to do with a recent system update on the Switch and somehow how it interacted with 3rd party docks

My brother gave me a roach clip that plugged into the charging port on a PS4 controller. It was good for a laugh. but not very practical. Imagine bringing your controller to your mouth and trying not to hit the touch pad with your chin.
