7 older games that still look graphically insane [4k]

The Witcher 3 couldn't be out too, the best PS4 game. Played a lot today on PS5, 3rd run. And FFXV, I treasure this one. Bought on launch, a really amazing place. Realistic and fantastic at the same time.

My fear for many modern AAA games is that they are heading down a super realism angle instead of an art style design angle. Realism will constantly be pushed forward but a clever, well thought out and delivered art style will hold up so much longer. Like the way you can play Mirrors Edge now and it looks and feels fantastic whereas Horizon Forbidden West will look old in three years. So much of the originality in games feels like its being squeezed in some mythical quest to resemble movies rather than dynamic fun and interesting experiences that only games can give you.

Gran Turismo 4 to me was one of the most technically speaking as well as graphically speaking impressive titles for its era. Truly did push the ps2's graphics to the limit. Even early ps3 games didn't look as good. Area 51 was another title I thought had solid story, gameplay mechanics and interesting technical quirks. For example you could look through the scope in your game and see what it was pointed at without having to aim it. That and it had Fox Mulder from the xfiles and Marlyn Manson as voice actors.

Fun idea for a list and I've watched a lot of Gameranx content and have to say that this is one of the worst scripts you've ever had. It feels like a bad ai wrote it. Just the way you repeat yourself talking about final fantasy and how you pause akwardly to show long stretches of gameplay. You say frankly for no reason several times. I'm not hating I'm just baffled by how weird you talk in this compared to all of your other videos.

Okay good list, but I have to say I m disappointed that Assassins Creed took 3 different spots, while Infamous Second Son and Uncharted 4 were completely left out. Those games are BEAUTIFUL and came out before some of the listed games, but instead you just put sequels of the same game in their place. C mon man. Still love the content though and hope to see more diverse choices in the future.

There needs to be a second part as there are quite a few games that look amazing today. Uncharted 4, Uncharted Lost Legacy, The Division 1 & 2, Quantum Break, The Order 1886, Detroit Become Human (like The Witcher, the earlier PS4 version looked amazing and PC release only enhanced that, Infamous Second Son and probably a couple more that I forgot about.

I don't really considerer old last gen, maybe I'm old myself because of that. In any case I agree with AC Unity, I think that game is even better than games that have come out recently, the textures, the way materials look, the interiors. They went overboard with that game and are yet to surpass it, maybe with Mirage things will change

Would also put TLOU2 on this list. The graphics and detail were truly amazing.
I know Elden Ring is only from 2022, but I played it on base ps4 and it was legit some of the most beautiful areas and landscapes and environmental story telling Ive ever experienced. The capital, the underground cities, etc etc and so on omg

Such a weird list. Almost All these games are just a generation old, and some came late in the last generation but they're being touted as 'holding up well'? Metro Exodus? My god. I mean, at least go back to Crysis 1 or Arkham Asylum. How about the Project Gotham games from Xbox and 360 years? This is such a silly list

It's missing Star Wars battlefront from like 2015, it still looks better than most games even without ray-tracing and the performance is so good that any modern GPU can probably play it well at 4K 60+ FPS looking crazy.
Ps: I'm not saying it's a good game cause it sadly isn't too good sadly.

I m a sucker for games that feature Egypt so AC Origins takes the cake for me. I finished the game last month and I thought it has magnificent graphics for a 5 year old game. Metro Exodus, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted 4, GoW18 are also stunning games that would make my list

Honesty surprise of no mention of any of the Dead Space titles, especially the first one! Came out in 2008 and still holds up to this day. You can even play it in 4k easily (my laptop which isn t the most powerful can play it at 30 fps, which is good.

Battlefield 5 still has the best shooter graphics ever. Change my mind. There is nothing to compare to the feeling when the house in which you are hiding gets blown up by a tank
The graphics and the destruction in this game are unbelievable epic!

Assassins creed unity is a gorgeous game, but playing it on PlayStation means playing at 900p, and you can tell, man if they had updated it for the pro then it would be so much better, going from that to syndicate is night and day in that regard

Batman Arkham knight still looks so impressive. We really do need a new Batman Arkham game!
Same with Metro, the trilogy are some of my favorite single player FPS games out there. Especially Metro Exodus what an absolute gem of a game.

this has probably been said but can we talk about how GOOD 2004's CS Source and Half Life 2 look for their time? honestly, they look better than games up to 4 years ahead of its time, and in my opinion, still hold up graphically.

The way Pitioss was created. muah. chef's kiss! It's like Labrynth. It makes you feel like you're off balance for real due to the visuals. It's so well done that when you finally get back into the sunlight, you are truly relieved.

Drive Club, God of War 3 and Ascension, Control, Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy, NFS Run, Rivals, 2015, Forza Horizon 3, MGS V Phantom Pain, Bloodborne. They all stand as visually amazing games within the last 10 years.
