10 WEIRD Gaming Stories of JUNE 2023 DiegoGTRatty: For #8, that Diablo armor is far from a microtransaction I'd be worried about.
It feels common place for most games to sell cosmetics for 20-ish, but there is far worse things out there.
You have games that'll sell microtransactions that barely provide benefits & easily skyrocket into triple digit prices. Usually in the mobile/free to play areas. Though that stuff has been creeping into triple A, 60-70 games over the years.
Not to mention further squeezing microtransaction profits by selling any of those items behind gacha, pulls, rolls, card packs. Whatever lame name they wanna disguise it by, those are still lootboxes. There are lootboxes in games, sold for 100+, that provide you a chance, to get the advertised benefit.
Who the hell's buying these, allowing lame game publishers to get away with it?

With #9 Genshin has the Bone Armor beat. Depending on how you go about it you'd have to spend between 22-25 in order to get the genesis crystals needed to buy one 5 skin. 21 is a lot but for gacha players that's a drop in the bucket (tho i refuse to spend that money on anything cosmetic so im left out of the whaling fun)
Also my 2 biggest questions regarding #1. How did the parents not notice the gradual withdrawal of money from their accounts first of all? Secondly why and how does a 13 year old have access to their parents' entire life savings?
I'm also finding it hard to believe that whatever bank they used to hold said savings didnt send some kind of letter or email notifying them that this amount was being spent this quickly. How can a 13 year old can spend that much money within that span of time without the banks or anyone getting a little suspicious til it was too late?
They got outsmarted by a 13-year-old. She may not have had the life experience or foresight to realize spending all this money wasn't the best idea, but she had the know-how to pull off this heist for 5 months. She outsmarted them.

#10 with trucking makes sense. What also makes sense is NOT going to college.
I hate to break it to the younger ones, but there is an over abundance of white collar workers. Personally quit my Inventory/Accounting job after I learned an actual trade. Industrial maintenance. yes. quite a difference there. It's been 1. 5 years now and I'm making more in the trades while only working 3 twelves. yes. 4 days off a week. Plus, it's close to home and my job is amazingly secure as that field is shrinking due to younger people not believing in blue collar jobs, while the industry itself is growing. A perfect example is the mount of IT personnel being laid off, but you don't hear of any maintenance personnel being laid off. Food for thought for people. BTW, I don't have to deal with people at all anymore. anyone that has done any customer service of any kind knows how magical my statement is

As for the Xbox market cap. I don't own an xbox series console because I don't need to. Ever since Game pass started releasing their exclusives on PC I haven't felt the need to upgrade my OneX. I do own a PS5 for their exclusives but if Sony would get off their butts and release games more quickly on PC, I wouldn't need their console either. It's a well known fact that consoles are loss leaders. The companies make their money on game sales not hardware. I wonder how much of the demographic are consumers like myself? I play the games I want where they are. If they're available on my overbuilt PC that I can run at high refresh rates and max settings, why would I want to downgrade and pick them up on a console?

The only thing that could suck that Bethesda is a big company which possibly could just disappear if Xbox didn't capitalized on it well or it could produce worse quality games than before because of this buyout. Sony usually buys smaller or midsize studios then hires more experience staff or relocates other studio staffs and gives the studio a bigger budget to devolop. I don't see Microsoft being that invested in making better games or better studios, just go back and see what they are doing with other companies or other projects they have a lot of cases of abandoning projects because of money. Sony is interested in money but I would be more comfortable with Sony not being a monopoly than Microsoft.

As I know people that happily buy MTXs and seasonpasses stuffs. These people tend to think a more fun game have similar pricetag to the seasonpasses and have 70% discount on steam is not worth it while they're happily paid for both MTXs and seasonpasses. To make matter worse, these people are the very people that ranting in every possible opportunity at the game they're supporting. Like how these people continued to live like that? So mindless and lack a sense of danger. I mean all those whining and ranting will get fixed by just playing a 5 dollars game, and when thinking about it they could keep changing game every week considering how much they spent monthly on those MTXs and seasonpasses.

As always, great content Falcon.
Xbox is losing b/c they don t have the quality AAA game exclusives that Sony has. They don t have the direction, quality leadership at the top. Shit, I own a Series X and hate the fact that there are so few AAA choices. They had an almost non existent 2022 a so far sub-par 23 until Starfield and Forza release later this year. Xbox has not done themselves any favors in regards to boosting console sales. That will soon change and I look forward to 24 when that actually does happen. 8-9 AAA exclusives that are great, well received and well reviewed games will likely boost those numbers for Ole Microsoft and Xbox.

Ok, I m gonna try my best to explain the TOTK computer.
Computers work with binary. That system has the advantage of being able to get the result of addition not by adding numbers but by using logic( a especial kind used for binary.
So what the player did was represent 1 and 0 with light on and off, and binary(combinatorial) logic with some planks letting the light pass or not.
So technically they re not adding numbers as we do, but they re getting the same results trough another means, the way computers do.
Finally if you want to know more search for half adders, the technical name of what they accomplished.

So, here's the thing; AI should not be doing passion projects. AI & robots should be doing boring, monotonous stuff. Passion projects should be left to people that can actually feel the passion.
Unfortunately, capitalist society does not allow that. If people are left to grow, explore, think, they would come to the realisation that the capitalist class is the enemy. There is no war but class war, and only the capitalist class is fighting it. If the working class realised this, billionaires would be vastly outnumbered & lose their power.
The problem with AI is not AI, it is capitalism.

i really dont understand why companies feel the need to over price cosmetics. all it does is get fewer sales and makes the consumers unhappy. lower the price so more poeple buy the cosmetics leading to more sales and likely more profit. and the consumers will be happier with the game and the company too. only reason i can think of not doing it this way is to keep the cosmetics from being over used but easy fix for that is to have more vaired comsetics. i mean how much time and resources could it possibly require to make a bloody piece of armor.

For the consol war, even if Playstation and Nintendo didn't have as good of exclusives that they have, I think Microsoft is just doomed to be the underdog when it comes to the consol war. Microsoft exclusives are usually playable on PC and, nowadays, on Gamepass so you can play their exclusives on so many more devices. So as a consumer of games it just makes more sense to buy the other 2 consoles that have exclusives only on their consoles while also either having a PC and/or gamepass on my phone(which is way cheaper)

Yea, when you think about it Blizzard is almost out of the gaming picture, most of their game hit astounding failure: Overwatch, Wow, DI (success in financial but massive failure in favor, and Starcraft II is like no one care.
Now, D4 is a grind fest with little story content and none of those features are new since most of them are from PoE! Somehow it is still worse than PoE?
I don't know how others can digest the fact that it is a decade-made game but if they can digest that fact then 21 is not much for them.

I think the biggest thing with AI is the legit concerns about possible plagerism, temporarily ruining certain jobs in place of ai where the ai actually relies on those professionals to make them information it uses, and a bunch of other things.
I'm not against the ai (not actually AI but what everyone is calling it) but it needs to be implemented correctly where it doesn't screw a lot of people over that already are not respected by these companies.

Microsoft is PRIMARILY a pc software company that is trying to get in the gaming market. SONY is an entertainment company who also makes TV sets. Sony has also been making consoles alot longer and probably has far more expertise in making them than Microsoft. The majority of money Microsoft makes is from selling Windows not consoles. Sony probably relies pretty heavily on it's console sales for revenue, so yeah they have to do it right.

One of the reasons Xbox had such a hard time selling consoles is because they weren't available. It took me almost 2 years to find an Xbox series x. You could get the series s but nobody wants the series s for real gaming. They weren't even selling the Xbox series x on their website due to saying unavailable. The supply chain shortages caused it where they couldn't make consoles. So this was affecting their overall console sales.

Really feel sad for the parents of that dumb girl. I can t believe how can they even spend so much money unnoticed? Like I have my dad s card with me for emergency purposes and if I spent any money online using it, he gets update messages on his phone of any transaction. And he is pretty much down to earth and not a tech person at all. I dun understand how these people don t check their account balance at all.

As a diesel mechanic who works on big rigs I would warn anyone who wants to pursue a career in trucking to research it carefully as well as the company you want to work for. Trucking, even local daycab routes, is not easy. Its long hours of driving a very difficult and deadly machine with usually a 53 foot trailer attached. I think the ad in the game is really cool but driving truck is not like in the game.

I am a sci-fi author who is constantly discussing AI. And you are right when you say it is not a big deal but only because there is nothing anybody can do about it. It is gonna change everything but people are making a bigger deal than they should cuz there is no way anyone is gonna have an effect on how it is progressing. (This is me speaking in short and trying not to write an essay)

A microtransaction when first introduced to gaming was like 5 or LESS and used NICKELS AND DIMES as some of the smallest denominations of pricing. Okay I think it was a quarter (25cents) at the cheapest so were talking kids lunch money (in school) or less for a day or two when they first came around. Now were talking about full blown meals for two at a drive thru as 'micro'.

I've been an Xbox gamer since the beginning and absolutely would have bought an Xbox Series X. But after a f cking YEAR of waiting on them to be in stock somewhere without me having to pay a scalper or get lucky finding one I gave up. Built a PC instead. So now I play games on PC and Switch and will almost certainly never buy another non-Nintendo console ever again.
