10 Older Games With Better Features Than Modern Games Lots of features from old games has been lost with the time, I really liked when those features even affected the plot of the game, like optional party members with their own sidestory in JRPGs, FF6 had 4 secret characters that you could completely miss and later in the game when you party gets scrambled around the world you could choice to finish the game without re-recruiting then again, heck, in Chrono Trigger you could even finish the game without the main character and even fight the final boss with only 2 party members at the very beginning during a new game plus. But every game with optional members pales in comparison with the Suikoden games with 104 recruitable characters, where more than the half of those were optional and many completely missable depending on your progress and choices.
Nowadays most new games simply gives you all party member and that's it, which is not a bad thing because you have the chance to experience every story, but it feels like you have now even less choices and rewards in your role playing.

Lol I wish mgs5 was open zone Instead of sandbox with nothing in them. Lol too bad if they just gave it more time it could be larger than life. Always wonder if they could've packed it more with stuff Like more trees Animals. Proper townz. More sneaky baddies looking out for snake in the mountains. More jeeps Lol cause that first outpost shouldve been like filling the entire south side of the map. Proper desert area, more mountain ranges to the NE. Just a tad bit of survival mechanics I miss hp and stemina bar Something about eating in games Probably cause it makes me hungry in real life Lol, let me tell you my open world mgs dreams to baldino And only him

About the cutting thing from Metal gear rising, there is one game i can think of that has done something similar. Distance.
Its a racing survival parkour game. And in it, there are these lasers and saw blades that the player has to avoid while driving. But if the car gets hit, it will be dynamically cut, wherever it was hit. So like you could get your roof cut off, getting rid of the Display on the back of the car (UI info. There is no hud in this game. You could have your car cut in half, thus you have only half of your wheels to work with. The only way you fully die from the cuts is if all 4 wheels are separated from the center of mass of the car.

What about Shining Force's battles I've been looking for something similar for years ( SF II is one of my all time faves, and I think I tried Fire Emblem on a GBA emulator Similar, but I've never found anything with that great big battle party setup. Esp with how it also factored in terrain, range. And the upgrade system! I've never found another game where your appearance changes when you upgrade your class. But then the coolest thing of having some random item that allowed you an alternate class uograde Brilliant! Nowadays, I think you'd need better hints about which items to keep for class upgrades.

Some honourable mentions I could think of
1. Nfs rivals: the cop and racer dynamic with specific pursuit tech made it the best nfs when it comes to pursuit gameplay. ( rivals is a better version of hotpursuit )
2. Max Payne shoot dodge. Why haven't nobody incorporated a dive and shoot mechanic in a third person shooter
3. Burnout series - Car crashes and full body deformation racing games
4. Mgs 5- enemy AI and responses based on players actions
5. Star Wars force unleashed 2 ( not as good as 1 ) but the force throwing everything around you was fun as hell.

As far as the Nemesis system from shadow of Mordor, the company that owns the games also applied for and was granted a patent for the working mechanics of the Nemesis system, so we won’t be getting anything else like that anytime soon unless they make it profoundly different as to work around the current patent or wait for the patent to expire.
Some key game mechanics like this can actually get patented. Another example is the dual-simulated worlds in real-time from the game Medium.

Stealth today is a good one. It’s just a hollow shell of its former self. Ubisoft is the worst offender, imo. Idk how you create an incredible stealth franchise like Splinter Cell, yet you choose to relegate the stealth in all your flagship games to hide in this bush until bad guy turns around.
If the rumors about AC Red taking inspiration from Splinter Cell and utilizing light, shadows, and sound in stealth are true, it could be huge. I just highly doubt it’s true.

I didnt think about red factions destruction, but honestly i think we are getting closer to seeing it more than youd think. Enshrouded is almost there. It doesnt use physics based building though, so its only halfway, however you can dig out the ground instead. It trades one feature for the other i guess. But with the number of games that do feature destruction, i feel like that might be one of the features on your list that is seen more than any other on the list.

This is why' is still collect xbox 360 and ps3 games alot of the games were better and the best sequels of the modern games that started in that that erra were the 1st few. That's alot of games in the erra was amazing and never had a sequel like the darkness, left 4 dead, rumble rose xx, onecharbara, splatterhouse. 40, 000 warhammer space marine. I know they're making a sequel for 40k but will it be better then the 1st. doubt it

Interconnected world like the first Dark Souls Ghost of a Tale comes to my mind: )
I find it funny that you would take FFXII as an example of a speed up feature as it's mostly an emulator feature that's only a consequence of the way they port Playstation games, Final Fantasy 7-10 remasters also had that and it's kinda quirky. Persona 5 on the other hand has some actual, really neat features to speed up the game: )

what about adaptive story detail like in spec ops the line like in the begining walker (player character) command and talk to his squad more profesionaly but as the story progress he shout and curse at every situation, the execution also become more brutal, heck even the menu and loading screen are changingit’s really felt like the story matter and hits directly at the player

Elden Ring did what you said by the way, you clearly didn't play it if you only think it's just massive open world game. Half the game is pretty much linear and does exactly what you said a skilled company can do with the dark souls concept. Also are you not aware they're both fromsoft Either way this was the dumbest rant i've ever heard on one of your videos.

Well they acually went and patented the Nemesis System, not trademarked, patented the Nemesis System so other developers couldn't use the same mechanic.
This is my opinion was one of the most screwed up moves in gaming as developers are supposed to improve and build on the game mechanics that came before them. That is what pushes gaming forward.

Recently I finished Vanquish, and in the end credits there was an asteroid shooting mini-game, with the developers' photos and names on each asteroid. This whole sequence made watching the end credits more fun as well as memorable, and end credits mini-games are something more games should use, since we don't get loading screen mini-games.

Like the dead space feature, The Darkness 2 had a fantastic pathfinder to help find objectives. Which was great for their take on sandbox-style linear story. It had a purple orb that would lead you to the objective. Which finding the right person you need to talk to in your giant mansion, it can be really helpful

i feel like games used to have more destructible environments. Like popping car tires, blowing out glass. most games put some of that in somewhat, but never totally. when you think things would get more destructible, more interactable.
Edit: posted this before i got to the Bonuses. ofc he mentioned it.

Before watching the video i can tell you the best one that should be in ALMOST every game. .. nemesis system from Shadow of War.
I know they patented it, but im sure its just like cars. You can still make your own version of it. Its just weird that no one is even trying to do something like it.

#1 Telekinesis from Bioshock
It's not as strong as the gravity gun in combat, but fun and super versitile. You can fling anything and pick up distant objects, but you can do more creative things like light an object from an external fire source to melt some ice.

most replay ability will add full cheats for everything in the game and you can play the whole game like that i love been able to do that on PC but consoles of course not why would companies allow us to play the game we buy the way we want to play them No we can't have that
