10 Bosses That RUINED The Game For Us Speaking of disappointing final bosses after a big build-up, something I never hear people talk about is Zhaitan, the last boss of vanilla Guild Wars 2. You fight him on an airship, and the only way to attack him is by using a mounted turret, which is completely antithetical to an MMORPG. Your build doesn’t amount to shit because the game thinks it’s CoD at the end.
It would have been fine if that was just phase 1, and after you beat him you land where he falls and proceed to fight him on the ground, which is what I fully expected would happen. But no, it turns out that was entire boss fight. Don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed by a final boss. And it definitely soured the game for me.

One boss i'd like to add is Dr. Hartman from the Control DLC. Control is an outstanding game. And both it's DLC's are great. But the Dr. Hartman DLC at the end of AWE is nothing short of bad. First of all, much of it takes place in the dark. Where he attacks you, and your energy drops every second. And you can't attack him. The first bit is super easy. You litteraly just turn on the light and bam, you take 99. 9% of his health as if nothing. But then he turns of the light and adds a shield. Ok, fair enough. You turn on the light only to find your attacks barely chip away at the shield. And seconds later he slams the ground, turning the power off and enemies spawn. You gotta fight them, survive Dr. Hartman, lose energy while you go between light sources etc. But the best part is, his shield regenerates in the dark. Throwing everything at him chios away like 5-10% of the shield IF YOU'RE GOOD. There's hardly any health to pick up, so if you get hurt, well you doo doo out of luck. But here's the thing. You gotta stun him before he turns off the light. Something that isn't too obvious at first as nothing stops him except for a perfectly timed tripple launch. But here's the thing, moving trough the dark drains your energy. Once you turn the lights on you often need to use said energy to move to where he is. Giving you hardly any time to pick up 3 things to launch at him. So you're doomed to repeat this. And even if you do stun him. You have to repeat this multiple times. The fight isn't hard as in it's a challange. The game stacks all the odds against you and really makes sure you can't succeed if you stumble just once. As i've heard people say, even when you beat him, you get no satisfaction, there is no heck yeah moment. It doesn't feel like you mastered him. It feels like you just got lucky. Wich isn't what a boss fight should be like. So upon repeat replays i tend to just go into the accessibility setting and one shot him because there's no reason to put yourself trough it. It's one of THE worst boss fights in any game from my memory. And i can remember some bad ones. But it sticks out so much more simply because the game is so Amazing. The contrast therefor just makes it stick out even more.

Man souls game clips where the person is playing with a shield is just hard to watch. Like some sort of I hate myself challenge run. Your character could be doing 50%, double, or even more damage if you played any other way, and you honestly don't gain any significant survivability with a shield. In fact you're often forced to endure far more attacks because of the drawn out nature of simply dealing way less damage. Hell in eldenring even the parry mechanic is less good, weaker and less reliable than simply getting a poise break which is easier with dual weilding or atleast 2 handing a weapon. I get it if you're doing a dual sheild challenge run or something, or if the shield has a buffing ability you use and then put away to 2 hand your weapon, but to actively sword and board is screaming I refuse to change no matter how hard every FromSoft dev tells me to.

I think that the bat mobile and its missions and side activities is very cool. A big part of being 'Batman' is having to use his high tech gadgets. This includes the Batmobile. In modern DC movies, the Batmobile is shown to a 'Fast tank', and this is exactly how it is Portrayed in Arkham Knight. When standing next to it you see how it compares to Batman himself. Its almost imposing in its size and destructive capability. In combat you roll around shotting the 60mm cannon, and movement in combat mode makes the Batmobile look kind of like a spider which I personally found to be cool; this big hunk of metal moving side to side as if it weighs nothing at all.
However, that being said I don't hate the players who don't like it. They have their own valid reasons.

Yeah that first boss in Human Revolution made me put the game away for months. Was having a blast with the game but I got stuck on him and the way i built my character wqs never going to let me get by him. Had no choice but to start over, which took me three months because I was so pissed off that they designed it that way.
Sorta feels like when God tells you Oh yeah I totally gave you free will. You can do whatever you want and I'm even giving you the choice on whether you want to worship me or not. Of course if you exercise that free will and don't do all the things i tell you to do or if you do things I don't like I created this place where will burn for all eternity and that's where I'm going to send you.

After Suicide Squad
Thanos to Arkham Knight's Batmobile boss fights: Perhaps I treated you too harshly.
Yeah the Batmobile boss fights are a dark spot on a pretty good game.
The problem was you were using the Batmobile as an actual tank. It's meant to get Batman from point A to point B fast and by knocking down barriers. Not trying to play stealth with a giant poor mans mech. This is where Batman would go on foot or say just the Batwing.
Then it shows Jason Todd didn't know what he was going. He did the same exact thing Hugo Strange did in the second game. Just try to hit Batman with more dakka.
In contrast to when Bane broke Batman by wearing him down.

Nah, Godkin duo being the worst boss From ever did Gotta say thats a very hot take lol
I agree in most parts here, they dont really belong in that level, the inability to turn it into a 1V1 is really lame, and the fact that a solo fight against either is bad enough, making both at once just that much worse is ridiculous. But are they the worst boss. No no no sir
Bed of Chaos was definately the worst souls boss. These guys dont even come close. Id argue theres other worse bosses too, like Pinwheel who is just far too easy to call a boss. The Four Kings also kinda sucked, and i wasnt a big fan of the Living Failures or Witches of Hemwick in Bloodborne

I remember making the mistake of playing Borderlands 1 with other people. Joined a group and watched as the final boss got 1-tapped by a hardcore min-maxxer who clearly was just grinding for perfect gear. So my experience with the ending of the game was basically watching a crappy cutscene and then it was over before I could fire my gun.
Which is the same problem I have kinda had with every Borderlands game. They're just not typically fun or balanced for playing with random people. You either play co-op with friends or you play solo, because random players will be so unpredictably under or overpowered.

Hey, I think the Naughty Dog boss hate is definitely uncalled for! I thought the sword fight against Rafe in Uncharted 4 to be extremely fun and well thought-out from beginning to end, as well as the fight against Asav at the end of Lost Legacy. It made so much sense narratively. Naughty Dog also came up with Rat King from TLOU Part II, which I think was a super cool boss fight.
Sure, Uncharted 2's Lazarevic and David from TLOU Part I sucked, but Naughty Dog's come a long way since then and I think we should acknowledge that.

I got say, and this is a hot take, The godskin duo is not the bad, even as a solo player you can get a phantom to summon as well as spirit ashes, there are also status ailments you can use that make it easier as well, like rot, poison, or sleep, My first playthrough i only died to them like 3 times, i died to the single one at the bottom of Radahns tower way way way more than that. Id argue that ornstein and smough are more difficult because they are programmed to attack in tandem and not really give much breathing room.

temtem is a game that had a last boss so bad it made the alrdy boring game not even worth wasting any more time playing
you have to beat the boss in a limited ammount of turns or you instant game over
he also wiats for y ou to choose your attack choices, then he rotates all his potemtemkemon so all your strong attacks turn weak, and they strong attack all your temkemon with strong/critical/elemental weaknesses, so basically the last boss cheats so nad, i regret watsing money and time on it

There was a boss in alpha protocol that you literally couldnt beat unless you put skills into pistols. It was in a club and he just annihilated you unless you had the headshot skill on your pistiols. Problem is he was quite far into the game so i literally had to start a new playthrough and change all my skills just to beat him. Was soo infuriating! Definitely a design flaw similar to the deus ex boss.

Actually the Sealed Evil boss from _Skyward Sword_ isn't _nearly_ as bad as most people think. You don't have to hit its toes to make it fall over in order to hit the pillar on its head. You can just use the geysers and land on his head while he's still walking and attack it.
That's my go-to method for beating that boss and it's _so_ much easier than trying to take it down by going for its toes.

Gotta say, 18: 10-18: 12, before I owned a PS2 and leading up to FFX’s release, there was footage of the team sliding down a railing, and flipping to the other one, as Sonic did in that time block. I remember that sequence so fondly, but was disappointed to know that it was just during a cutscene.
It’s kind of cool to see that in actual gameplay in a very different game.

reply

You have Skyward sword on this list but didn't note Ghirahim! The boss that literally grabs your sword and doesn't let you do anything for awhile everyone he does it. And he does it EVERY time you don't hit him exactly right. In a game where you use motion controls, which were bad, to attack with. He's a clear number one. Especially since you fight him multiple times.
reply

I don’t want to be that guy but I don’t believe the Godskin Duo belongs on this list. I’m happily average at the soulsbourne series but I didn’t find them anymore frustrating than any other bosses that I got stuck on. Now I will shout everyone that fought the Duo without knowing about sleep pods and/or without fighting them individually first.

Maybe my build was just really good because I although struggled super hard on some eldering bosses, but breezed through godskin duo and melania. Only died 5 times to melania, and beat godskin on my first time seeing them. Dual collosal swords, maxed poise is best strat. That being said those damn dual gargoyles kicked the ever loving shit out of me
reply

I would have given Bed of Chaos number 1. So legendary. But, kinda hilarious if you're a fan of the game.
Godskin Duo though You're at the end of the game, so you can summon your best max-level Spirit Ash and there's an NPC as well, so it's 3 on 2 in your favor. Does that count as cheese that you have to look up on the internet I hope not.

reply

Its the way the batmobile was used that imo made it such a buzzkill. The joker being in the game again
Does he really be in the game Then add red hood I mean Arkham Knight and it just didn't feel like anyone who wrote for it even wanted to. Deathstroke in a tank fight Really! Way to mess that up, good job rocksteady

reply

I did not expect to see Terranigma here. Yeah, that spike is just wrong from any perspective.
If you know that this is coming, then you have to spend half an hour grinding out 5 levels.
And doing nothing else than grind for half an hour a) feels like an eternaty b) is ridicoulous jut to beat a boss
