PC building isn't as scary as it may seem. Beginners should heed our warnings! Any other tips for newbies? Let us know! Luke: One thing i learned from my 'first' pc build is never be heavy handed with the components, PCI and PCIe cards are fairly easy to slot into place, but ram can sometimes require a little force, put each of your thumbs at each end of the ram stick and slowly (but not aggressively) push down, pushing on the ends rather than the centre distributes the force evenly until you hear a 'click' on both sides.
If your MB has single clip ram slots (the single clip is usually on the right hand side when facing towards the back of the rear I/O), angle the ram so that you are putting the left side of the ram in the side without the clip in first, once you are unable to push the ram down further, start to put the right side in until you hear the 'click'.
Another tip is if you have identical ram sticks (same DDR form factor, same frequency and same ram size, if you have four ram slots put one ram stick in the closest slot to the CPU, miss a slot, then in the next slot put the ram stick in. This ensures your using the ram at its full potential.
I don't know if the ram size matters but I am sure if the frequency is the same then your ram sticks will operate at this speed.

I have built only one computer in my lifetime. I was like 12 and half or 13 and all of the parts were random scrap and salvaged bits. There was a fair amount of toothpicks and tape involved. It survived for about two or three years and then died for reasons that I was far to illiterate to understand. The whole thing was a bodge job.
I only later learned that thermal paste was a thing. I can only assume that there was some leftover on my Frankenstiened parts. The build cost me around seventy bucks in 1998 money.
I really just bit my tongue and squinted until it looked right. My only aid was an occasional look on the internet at my Aunt's house. All it really had to do was run Starcraft on minimum settings at 5 frames, and most of the time it did just that. It only sometimes, had sound. Not sure why, but I was what it was.

I once dropped a CPU and the impact bent around half the pins, in one direction or another. Took me just over 3 hours to bend them all back into shape.
It's a hard lesson learnt, see how much you sweat, trying not to break those flimsy gold pins!!

Dilemma of a novice person building a pc: Should I buy more rgb lights or a more colorful case?

When I-m going to build my rig i wouldn-t press on the ram hard just so I could hear the click. Im always scared when doing that kind of stuff because it might break the motherboard, same with the cables.

Cases need airflow, cheap cases have poor airflow, do not buy a cheap case! the case is the home for all your shiny expensive parts
