Dragons Dogma 2: 10 Things You Need to Know Im so excited ive been playing Dragons Dogma for 12 years and its finally getting its much deserved sequel, i remember when they had teased a playstation only sequel called deep down or something and it crushed my spirit as an XBOX fanboy, really hoping that with this war between rulers they talked about in the trailer that we and our pawns also get to engange in some massive battles against some humanoid warriors with the same skillsets as us like the bandit lords or Duke troops from the original and that maybe we get a horse of some kind with mounted combat, and please if nothing else keep the pawns dialog and their awesome english accent the samw

vocations don't define you as much as in dd1. content creators, who tested earlier builds of the game, confirmed that leveling acts like the original with you getting stats based on your current vocation but every time you switch vocations those stats change to suit the vocation you swapped to. gone are the days of wanting a magic damage build for a hybrid class so you would want to level to 200 as sorcerer from as early as you can get it. you are 100% free to swap to whatever you want at any time, to try things out, with no penalties what so ever. apart from finding weapons, maybe new armor for the vocation, and having to acquire its skills, i guess. those are minor steps to reach a whole new fun play style so it's well worth it.
this makes the 1 save file matter a bit less but still, i'm a bit worried about bugs with 1 save file. modern gaming and all that. quest scripting bugs being the main issue for me. yes, new game plus will likely exist but quest bugging out and losing them for a playthrough would still suck.

One save file, really What, is this 2002 again Kind of a dealbreaker for me, I suppose I could just make another profile on PS5 but I think there's a limit, and with different classes, races, appeareances, I like to have mutiple saves. I don't know why anyone thinks this a good idea (If you like to save scum then that's on you really.
Wanted to buy it but that part is a bit of a dealbreaker, just don't like having to delete a save for it. If it's for the pawns, is it really that hard to just limit to one account or something. AC Valhalla did fine with the Jomvikings.

So why do I need to know these Why does anyone need to know these Why can’t someone just buy the game and prepared to have their mind blown Dragons Dogma was a random game I bought from GameStop back in the day and it was one of the greatest decisions I ever made. And if someone never played Dragons Dogma and if this sequel is going to be the first one, you just completely ruined it for them. Only reason I’m watching this because it’s nothing I haven’t seen. And its just more DD2 content holding me over until release

Honestly a good game would throw Fast traveling in there but if the game truly is good people wouldn’t NEED or WANT to fast travel.
For example Spider-Man has fast travel and mostly nobody uses it because the traveling system is fun. Same with Elden Ring most of the time.
I feel like forcing us to not fast travel is what’s gonna annoy a lot of people FAST. People claim to love DD2 traveling system but watch after a month or two people start complaining and begging for fast traveling
It’s inevitable

This is the perfect game for how I play. Just like the first one. When I play RPGs, I don't fast travel EVER, I only use ONE save file, and I never reload and replay sections of a game. Whatever happens, happens. I have almost 600 hours in the first Dragons Dogma and I've never beat it. Skyrim 1000 hours, never fought Alduin. AC Odyssey 800 hours. I don't like to beat games, I like to live in them, so they mostly never end. Dragons Dogma 2 will be with me for a very long time. GOTY

11th Thing You Need to Know:
In the original game your stats level up based on your current vocation. Someone who plays ten levels as a mage will have very different stats from someone who plays ten levels as a warrior and these stats do not change when you change vocation. So there is a level of planning you want to commit to when leveling up your character to get the stats you want for your final build.

i love exploration when it works
going to many places and finding hidden things or gathering everything that can be picked up but quest markers are important because if i have to blindly look for something then exploration becomes the most boring part of questline and i no longer have any will to explore anything on my own or even finish quests
that alone is bad enough to ignore this game

For anyone needing to know: There is only 10 vocations. Mystic Knight was replaced with Mystic Spearhand, and assassin was done away with altogether. Same thing with Ranger. The 10 vocations that have been revealed have been confirmed to be the only ones in the game.
Good chance they decide to add another or a couple more with the DLC in a year or two though

Other things you should know:
They’ve removed the armor slots from DD1 you now get a slot for the lower body, upper body, helmet, and a cape.
The frame rate stays at 31fps but frequently dips to around 24fps during combat.
There are 10 vocations, previous vocations like Ranger, assassin and mystic knight have been absorbed by other vocations.

My problem with fast travel being limited isn't that games are boring, it's that I don't have 300 hours to spend on a game anymore (yes, my free time is a currency) and I'd rather get to the next big thing the game has to offer rather than have to walk there and experience the same random goblin road block I've been experiencing the last 100 hours.

My first dive into action rpg was Elden Ring and I’ve enjoyed other souls games particularly borne but nothing has scratched that itch for an amazing immersive open world find your own way experience, I can’t wait to play this game and lose myself in it like I did with Elden Ring, I can feel that it’s going to be a similar experience for me.

I remember playing the original Dragons Dogma over a decade ago on my Xbox 360. My sister got it for me because someone at GameStop said it was like Monster Hunter. I know this game will deliver. I truly hope it will be everything about the last one and more. But on a serious note. Beware of monsters Arisen. The roads are far more safer.

I’m fine with only having a single save slot for a given character. But not being able to have more than one character is rough. That’s super restrictive and greatly limits replayability if you ask me.
So if I want to try a fresh character with a new vocation, my only option is to delete my previous character Super lame.

Hmm, I'm cautiously expectant. I've started DD1 three times now and every time gotten frustrated with the messy combat system and given up quite early in the game. I think I heard from somewhere that you can't lock on enemies. If that is the case. its going to have to be very very good otherwise.

I'm looking forward to the Before you Buy. This game seems pretty overwhelming to get into as I never played the 1st one. I just hope that it doesn't end up like Baulders Gate for me where I got very lost and confused and eventually stuck on an enemy I can't beat with no way to escape.

The vocations and simplification of Pawn personalities is disappointing
The romance comments just sound like 17489290 options of women with full cutscenes, quest lines, possible unique items and like zero or a few lackluster options of men with fade to black scenes, no unique anything

the original Dragon's Dogma is one of my favorite games so i'm totally here for the sequel, just hope the performance is good on pc what with how some of the recent pc ports have been. i also hope i can run it well on my pc, i can get almost 60 fps for the RE 4 remake, so we'll see.

Clicked on this to support our heroes at GR, I had heard them talking about this game before now but didn't really see myself playing it any time soon. By the time I got to #8 I had already decided to play this ASAP. Thank you for your great coverages. This game looks awesome.

It boggles my mind that Dragons Dogma is the only fantasy game that allows you to scale these huge creatures and attack specific weak point on their body to incapacitate them or completely remove certain abilities. Everyone else is just Jacksons away at ankles
