The whole 7/10 thing is even deeper then that. Yoshinori Kitase directed 7. 8, 10, and Chrono Trigger. They're all part of a singular large universe. Jenova and Lavos are aliens crashed onto the planet, maybe the same species at different evolutionary points. 8 had a civilization called the Centra, almost the same as 7's Cetra. 7 and 10 had the Shinra connection.
So, Shinra('s descendants) lead a migration from Spira into space. They settle on 8's world, now calling themselves Centra. A Lavos entity crashes into the moon, either directly or forced by the Centra. On the moon, it starts creating monsters; eventually causing the Lunar Cry that destroyed the Centra civilization (either on purpose or coincidentally. Most of the remaining Centra flee the planet, with the majority of their tech eventually being collected by the Esthar. The creature on the moon sees them go and sends a version of itself, Jenova, after them (sub-light means hundreds/thousands of years difference. They arrive on 7's world, and connect with the Lifestream (due to being direct descendants from the similar Spira, becoming the Cetra (the original game implied that the Cetra weren't originally native to the planet. Over time, most lose that connection, becoming the first Humans (on Midgar, at least. Jenova finally catches up to them, and leads to the near-extinction of the Centra. Humanity eventually rebuilds, and relearns about the lifestream. A family learns about a potential ancestor with the same name, and uses Shinra's old data to create electricity from the Lifestream.
( this only works on the original games (except 10-2, and doesn't work with the remake/expansions)
That was fun.

Fallout 4 Theory: first of all, Tim saying Vault Tec didn't start the war and Bethesda saying they did, doesn't make either of them wrong. After all, Bethesda bought the franchise and while they have more or less adhered to the original lore, they've constantly changed things to suit their version of the story. The second thing about who started the war, there's also a theory that the Fallout 4 assaultron in the Railroad, named P. A. M, decided to end the USA/China war by launching the nukes on both sides and destroy both aggressors. I've seen that one written up someplace, although I don't remember where.
Here's what bugs me about Vault-Tec. The experiments in the vaults didn't start until after the bombs dropped and drove the population into the vaults. With the world destroyed (including Vault-Tec themselves as far as we know, what purpose do those experiments serve Apparently they planned to colonise other worlds, as evidenced by their display in the Nuka-World amusement park where the demo vault was said to be designed for another planet (but was secretly subjecting visitors to an experimental gas -- oh Vault-Tec, you sneaky buggers. But was that park display just smoke and mirrors to sell the idea that the vaults were there for a good reason
My personal opinion, the annihilation probably was just the result of two super powers, locked in a long struggle and being drained dry, got desperate and tried to finish each other off. But I think it makes the whole thing more fun to believe that Vault-Tec somehow started it.

don't think you know what 'clearly true' means. Just copium.
10. Devs OFFICIALLY said no. So, your fanfic, maybe, but it's canonically not true.
8. It's just references. They're not all interconnected thanks to magic crystals, samey monsters, and cids.
6. Devs said no, but i'll play devil's advocate - they said the only 'evidence' is expanded lifespans, forgetting ultimecia is the sorceress of TIME. not saying it has to be rinoa, but ultimecia 100% could jump through time. That seems like something.
5. if the facts come out, they won't care about my feelings.
THAT sounds like truth, lol.
2. Actually wouldn't be too surprised about that, tbh. Sacrifice and the weak becoming strong being major themes in ER and dark souls.
1. Arguably, the OG dev's idea, doesn't have to matter. He doesn't own the franchise anymore, and given most vaults seem to be experiments, them cooking up some excuse to get people in, does seem plausible. Might seem counter to 10, but, they're not the devs now. Whatever bethesda says, goes.

The headcanon I most strongly want to believe regarding the Dwemmer's disappearance is that they didn't achieve Chim or teleport to some plane of Oblivion or get Zero Summed, but rather that they were transported forward in time and at some point in the future will reappear in the exact same geographical location they disappeared from. I want to believe this theory because it would make for a super interesting game plot in which you have the newly returned Dwemmer going to war both physically and politically with the people who still live there to determine who has the better claim to call this land their homeland. On one hand you'd have the Dwemmer who claim that they were here first and that all who came after are trespassing on their land, while on the other hand you'd have those who have lived there for countless generations since the Dwemmer's disappearance claiming that their ancestors did nothing wrong in occupying a land that no longer had any inhabitants and that it's been their land rightfully ever since.

Additional Fallout Theory:
Fallout, The Outer Wilds, and We Happy Few are all connected by Vault-Tech. Different versions of events in the same starting universe that led to different outcomes.
In Fallout the bombs dropped so Vault-Tech never finished their experiments and instead adapted to survival in the future.
We Happy Few is what happened when Vault-Tech did finish their experiments and they used the data to create the pill that keeps everyone happy and complacent while they lurk in the background collecting more and more data.
Outer Wilds is what happened when the U. S. government figured out the secret to nuclear energy and applied it to space travel, but the game takes place some time in the future after this has been discovered. Vault-Tech of course is responsible for the building of space ships to study the effects of interdimensional travel on humanity and Martian life.
There's evidence for all of these but it could take a while to explain, so I'll leave it here.

The Indoctrination theory is true! If you choose the destroy the reapers option, there is a second long scene before the credits, of shepards chest taking a deep breath under the rubble they are under the rubble after being hit by the lazer. I mean what else proof do you need At the end you dont fight for the galaxy, you fight for your own control, not just Shepard's but your own. Do YOU get doctrinated by the reapers through Shepard's story Brilliant! And yes even if Shepard resist the doctrination, all is lost for that cycle, but by notifying the next cycle through Liara's network, we are giving them a chance to be able to defeat the reapers, hence the post credit scene with Buzz Aldrin, who voices a space alien from the far future.

The show clearly proves that Vault-tec told their investors that they intended to drop the bomb themselves, and then their investors gave them more money and stayed dedicated to the plan. This is fact. This is canon. Undeniable.
However, Vault-tec is also incredibly dishonest. They could have been lying to get more time and money. They lie a lot.
The show also doesn't show Vault-tec dropping the bombs. They may or may not have had plans, but it's unclear if those plans actually happened. It's also questionable if Barb would allow her daughter to be in a vulnerable position when the bombs are scheduled to drop if Barb knows when they will drop. Seems unlikely.

ME3s ending was truly terrible. I agree with the game bird, the indoctrination theory is an attempt to make it a little more palatable by using the it was all a dream! trope, which usually makes things worse. Which is all you need to know to understand how bad an unsatisfying that ending was. There's some alternate universe where they got the full arc of Drew Karpyshyn's trilogy, and hopefully that one had a better finale. ME3 was still good, but that turn to the AI bad! story was already trite at the time. The sort of quasi-environmental story about Element Zero prematurely aging stars and the mystery of how the Reapers played into it all was much more interesting.

I am such a TES nerd when it comes to the lore of that universe, and I still see TES 3 as the pinnacle of the series before it was dumbed down. The entire world and lore as it pertained to the Dwemer honestly lead me to believe they did not achieve CHIM. I think they were moreso akin to Flying to close to the sun and either destroyed themselves in their quest for godhood or exist in a different plane outside of Mundus. Ive always been interested in current and ancient mythologies/religions, but I could honestly talk about Elder Scrolls lore with more knowledge than any other religion sadly: )

teh fan theory exists because of documents and holo taps found in vault 54, 56 and 30 something it basically out right states that the people in charge of running the first vaults didn't know why vault tech would put so many people in vaults with so little resources and then you go read the terminal in the over seers office and he basically out right states it that they are just supposed to continue running the tests regardless of anything else. Its in the vault with the one guy and like thirty something women in it and the vault thats full of glowing ones and super mutants.
reply

I still don't buy the Vault Tech one.
It isn't convenient that they was making nuclear shelters just in time for nuclear war. They was living under the constant idea of nuclear apocalypse. Of course someone would be making shelters.
They was working with the enclave for all the research. If they did in fact start the war, they would have waited for all of their vaults to be finished.
They didn't help stop it but the idea that they caused it is just Bethesda bad writing giving into fan theories and probably not wanting to upset a potential Chinese market.

Strictly speaking, and to be absolutely pendantic, Occam's Razor does NOT say that the simplest explanation is most likely to be true. It says that the explanation that adds least amount of elements (or entities) is most likely to be true. It means that if you have two solutions, one is simpler but requier 4 elements to work, and on that is more complex but only requiers 3, then the more complex solution is more likely to be true. It just happens that in most cases the solution with least amount of elements also tends to be the simplest solution.

Considering all the Vaults weren't finished by the time the bombs were dropped, Vault-Tec probably failed. It's also possible they were lying about dropping the bombs themselves just to get more money from investors. Happens all the time in business. Here's the plan, and why you should invest. Whoops! That didn't work out, but don't worry! Here's the new plan so you should invest more! In the end, Vault-Tec probably weren't the ones who actually dropped the bombs. They did, as the show stated probably prevent peace to stay afloat as a company.

If anyone thinks that the fallout show is cannon your a lobotomite.
Damn near everything that show tries to explain as Cannon has been debunked by a previous entry in the franchise multiple times. So if a new cannon is to emerge. That mean universe altering retcons were made.
Thus making the world of fallout lore less important. If you care about the franchise even a little. Please push back on these changes. Hack writes will destroy the things you love it you dont.

I dunno about it being all in shepherds head but yeah I believe in indoctrination theory. But it was happening slowly through the whole series or at least since ME2. It's a slow subtle, process. Watch the beginning of ME3. No one else sees or interacts with the boy even as hes getting on the shuttle. No one helps him or even looks at him. Only shepherd sees him almost as if he's not even there. And wouldn't you know, he comes back as the construct. Coincidence I think not.

After being a fan of the Fallout franchise essentially my entire life I think it's perfect to release the real, heavy, lore in a T. V. show. Let the games be what they always were, a player based experience based on the life of someone born into the wasteland or a vault. Guided by the players hands of course. With a T. V. show we can watch someone as if the Enclave were watching us or whoever watches who in the Fallout games. Really cool it is Canon for sure.

The Fallout series filled in all these holes. The experiments in the Vaults to figure out the best way to rebuild society was a shiny bauble they dangled in front of government and rich idiots. They fully intended to rise back up from their controlled Vaults but The Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave, The Institute, The NCR, Raiders, etc etc etc make things difficult. Plenty of Vaults are still sealed up, probably a lot more Vault Tech controlled ones too.

I just thought of this. the only reason that we even know of the Dwemer, is because of Yagrum Bagarn, and all the constructs and structures they left behind. If Yagram also disappeared, and all of their structures and constructs went with them. we would never know of their existence. It was only the people directly that suffered Zero Sum. The only one who didn't just blink out of existence entirely was Yagram. That's why we still know about them.

The Marika's therory is wrong and that is explained in the game.
Hornsent used Marika's people in the ShadowLands to stuff these jars because they knew the Shamans could be meld together. Marika was the last survivor of her people and managed to usurpe the creation of the Hornsent god.
Marika whilst creating the Golden Order gave a new purpose to the jars. Stuff themselves of the strongest flesh. In honor of her people

Number 6:
I think it's actually Selphie who will actually be Ultimecia in the future.
Why Her Limit Break ability is MAGIC related, powerful multicasts but with poor control that can and will be mastered with age and experience.
Plus, she also has a thing for Squall, to which she kept it all to herself.
Kinda explains Ultimecia's reason and motivation centered on manipulating the past from the future.
