A decent Before you Buy. I definitely do want to buy this game, but there's no way I'm paying full price. 2K have been far too lazy this year with the sheer amount of recycled character models and entrance motions from 2K24 (and even some still from 2K23. Not to mention how shallow the Island looks. They've talked about how it's a starting point this year to build upon in future games. But that's not a good enough excuse for how crappy it looks.
However, I did have a couple problems with this Before You Buy video. Firstly, you didn't mention MyGM mode at all. For me, that's the best mode in this series. It's the one mode that keeps me playing throughout the year. So to completely miss out one of the key modes in this review makes this review seem incomplete.
Secondly, there were a couple points where random gameplay footage played while the narrator spoke about different features. Talking about the new 3rd person camera angle, while the default match camera shows a match, you could have put in footage of 3rd person camera showing a superstar's entrance. You talked about now being able to perform moves off the barricade, while a parking lot brawl between Spider-Man and Venom played. Why Why wouldn't you show off exactly what you're talking about How is a parking lot brawl between superhero CAWs relevant to being able to climb and dive off the barricade this year

Before you buyjust don’t. The Island is no exaggeration going to be the worst thing to ever come to the WWE gaming franchise.
Look at Neighborhood in 2Kbecause that’s literally what this is. It started off chill with Mypark which was just offline currency becoming VC. Today Most people that but the game pay $50 or even $100 on top of the base game to get their overall high enough to play the career mode. Then there’s a battlepass with a premium payed tier that they lock content behind. That battlepass doesn’t only lock basic cosmetics which in this game might be stuff like the DX T shirts, but also animations. No they won’t do it off the jump because you’ll reject it but there WILL be a time where you can’t use the RKO in character creation because you didn’t pay for it with through the Island battlepass. And this isn’t me guessing, that’s based off of what they’ve already done with NBA 2K. I’m begging you guys to not play that mode, and maybe don’t buy the game in the first place because this franchise will get worse if the Island succeeds.

How can we be in 2025, and the latest wrestling game still can't match Smackdown vs Raw 2011! Honestly, SvR 2011 had the Road to Wrestlemania mode with the amount of unlockable characters and secrets, and it had that wonderful WWE Universe mode that had me playing for hours.
I still want an answer to a couple of questions with this latest game:
1. Can I start a King or Queen of the Ring tournament and book the tournament bracket exactly the way I want
2. Can I change the control method through the options to closer replicate the SvR system that was so good
3. Can I write my own storylines, the way previous games allowed I want to destroy this Bloodline crap and everyone involved, ending by breaking The Rock in a bloodied mess.
Ultimately, the microtransactions just sound like a shameless cash grab, so I am unlikely to purchase it. 2K need to seriously up their game and drop the greed!

I was watching and listening very closely to one of the developers playing this game I believe with denkops. And if you listen real careful they way he was describing the game seems like the game itself isn't new at all like 2k25 isn't a new game. Because the way he was talking about the game it seems however games are really made they carry over whatever code or however the game is made, and then they slap a new title and boom it's a new game with I guess minor updates and tweaks. Like when he talked about finally updating Randy orton I was like wait so the Randy orton we've been playing as hasn't been updated in about two years but yet it's a new game So what I realized these kinda games the same game released every year isn't really new it's what the same code or same data with a few new code but other than that nothing is REALLY new. Because they didn't re write the code

It’s a good game. As for Myfaction it is improved. The switch from proving grounds to the World Tour section is a positive. The rewards from it are better including giving you Persona Cards for free compared to last year which you can use in the base game. Plus, they removed the Mandatory MFP requirement for the matches, so some matches can be done easier, as well as switching the system to restricting the type of wrestlers you can use. It makes you use more of the cards you have have, as well as cards you would have never played with previously. There is also an increase on obtaining various cards from packs including Oddity cards which were a pain last year. They went from 2% to 3% now 15% this year.

How you not gonna address the biggest bit of laziness in 2k25 The fact in the story, hell in the game period, you get access to the previous games player characters but they didnt bother to allow you to port over past game saves to use your custom characters they are all basic default trash, they even make a big deal talking about how player been asking for it and yet dont even bother porting over data,
So like why even bother including previous myrise main characters

This game sounds like it be a waste to get it be best to wait for it to be on sale sadly which I’m sad to say because I grew up watching wwe but ea is so money hungry and get the money and don’t even make anything good or change anything good with their games anymore like I don’t even buy 2K anymore and nba use to be my gamee now it like they barely putting any effort into anything and because of that I rather just wait for gta 6 at that point

As someone who plays the games every year, i would actually say this years game is a pretty sizeable improvement and my favourite Wrestling game in a long time.
Also I wouldn't sleep on MyFaction this year as its so much better and no money needs to be spent to enjoy it. World Tour replacing proving grounds is am awesome change and seems to be going down pretty well in the community even by people who wernt fans of the mode previously

Stop buying micro transactions. Stop buying these games. Nobody is forcing your wallet to open and these games are no longer fully completed. DLC that could come out with the game, dlc that does come out with the game but you still have to pay extra for, early access when half the game is online. They are telling you you have to pay to have fun and that’s just not true.

There should be a law that all microtransaction items can be purchased the same as currency at their face value, that way if I want just a pair of boots I can use my credit card and buy a pair for whatever 1800 coins costs me instead of the current way where I have to purchase 3000 coins to buy an item that costs 1800 because they only sell the coins in 1500 lots.

Haven’t seen WWE content in years probably a decade and I’m not surprised we’re the game is at I should’ve known sense it’s a 2K game it was gone go the exact same route this online bullsht I’ll say the time the will look exactly the same for the next 3-5 years don’t expect a new game trust me 2K 24 basketball game looks exactly like 2k20

The last wwe game I got was 2k20. after that dumpster fire I didn't bother with getting the newer versions. but I got this one and I've been having a blast so far. I don't care for the online stuff. I only play offline. I haven't had any crash or bugs and I'm playing on pc. So, I'm actually surprised that the gameranx team had bugs. So far so good.

WWE12'was the last time I enjoyed playing WWE game everything else that followed were somehow worse than the previous and maybe its down to WWE in itself became boring in recent years as there isnt huge star anymore like so if WWE sucks initeslf so it reflects on to the games as well!

Universe mode imo is in the right direction. I’ve had fun using the rivalry system to book my rivalries and the build to clash at the castle has been one of favorites so far. It’ll never reach the WWE 12 vibes but it’s probably the best I’ve played since 19.

The island only had to be like the city in 2k, just a multiplayer only and my rise should of been tied to that as your career where you can walk around the city with your titles from career but no, we got a full online mode which half of the players will never touch

I still don't understand how marks would defend 2K with their life like the billion dollar company owes them shares or something. I still Play 16, 19, 22 and 23 with mods with new superstars lol.

I've bought every year aside from 2020. I really regret getting this one. It's just good enough gameplay-wise, and everything else is just bad, missing or boring.
I'm not trashing it just to be negative. Just check it out a little extra before you buy it.
