Maybe it has something to do with the Japanese market not interested in playing with players outside of the country There are some Japanese home games with crossplay like Tekken, but no cross save and I think it’s due to lack of funds for these servers. Where as even indie developers have these systems at launch. 2020 should’ve been a wake up call for all developers who make multiplayer games to invest in these systems. It should be standard, don’t have me use Discord for communication, have in-game chat for it. Why are companies being cheap here I fear Duskbloods will utter the same fate and the blame Bandai Namco of course. They make so many games and cut so many corners, their CEO needs to keel over already for fresh blood

Its not a lot but I have like 1000 hours in risk of rain 2, and I havent played any elden ring and have yet to purchase night reign, in ROR2 the maps are always the same, but locations open up on re runs and items/ locations of shrines and teleports always change up, if they did that much and incentivized exploration more Id be a lot more interested. Dont get me wrong, rushing through stages is a solid strategy, but making it the only way to effectively beat the game seems like a huge miss. I feel like making the time per stage 30 minutes with the option to rush the boss if you get good equipment and progress faster would give more variety to runs and strategy, but maybe thats just me.

so i cant play the game duo with my friend if so then why, ik u can make a custom password thingy to match up with friends but wouldnt that work to play duo or does it just add someone random in bc that doesnt seem very smart as that would just be more coding and stuff than letting 2 friends matchup duo style wouldnt it
wondering bc i wanna play the game with friends but i really only have one friend that plays souls type games (i do have some other friends but i get nervous talking to people i dont talk to irl and most people i know that play them are people ive met online and to add onto it im from sweden so my english sounds a little weird)

If you have 2 other people to play with and discord it's really fun. It's not half as amazing as Elden Ring but it is not aiming for that. From Software have only recently had all huge masterpieces. There where so many versions of Armored Core back in the day with some being compilations of best missions or Arena only. Being a longtime fan I have to say that this is far from their worst. 40 is a little high having played it but if this was 30 dollars it would be a great buy. It's just a what will soon be half priced experiment. I spent a little over an hour of my life saving to buy this and already have 10 into it. It's not perfect though

Lol, if anyone else not named From Software released something this lazy for $35 and $50 respectively, there'd meet holy hell.
Plus, I love reading how every other game doesn't respect your time, while these games are the literal definition of that with their endless tedium. Yay, you spent 30 minutes trying to mechanically beat the boss and you lost because your fingers got tired or lost concentration for five seconds, now welcome to another 30 minutes wasting your life. Sounds like the real world purgatory that every Souls-like is.

This would fail drastically if it didn't have the elden ring name to it. There is no in depth synergies that allow you to make your build like in other roguelike, most rewards are just stat buffs. The map is very repetitive between runs. The fast closing ring makes it impossible to explore to your hearts content, you're either fighting something or on the way to fight something. Is it fun to play with friends Yes, but not because this is a great game, it is just fun to play with friends.

This feels like there’s going to be a big debate around.
It’s in that sweet spot where the critiques are genuine and absolutely warranted but someone can just say but don’t die.
There’s like this total refusal to engage with reasonable playability (that admittedly can be a difficult thing to apprehend in design with high-difficulty games) because meh git gud but let me over-intellectualize it into the stratosphere because I can’t allow you to critique this game.

It just sounds like a bastardization of what I love sadly. I don’t mind FromSoft going multiplayer, I’m tantalized by what we know about Duskbloods, but the lack of effort in copy pasting the overwhelming majority of the game, as well as breaking the amazing world building FromSoft is amazing at by plopping Smelter Demon or the Nameless King to pad out the boss pool is a bit disappointing. I hope Duskbloods turns out to be a great full-blooded effort into multiplayer Souls.

15: 25 so the ps5 version of elden ring still sucks ass huh thats all i needed to hear, not buying this til its atleast locked 60fps. The fact that i have to play on the ps4 version of elden ring (2022) on the ps5 just to get a consistant fps is already pathetic enough. I'm not paying $40 for a trash optimized game bro, im not a slop eater. Theres literally games that let you play with 120 fps on ps5.

Playing with random strangers doesn't interest me anymore so I'm glad you can play by yourself. Everyone I know aren't that interested in the Souls genre, tbh I'm not either but there's not really much to play atm so I'm willing to give this a chance.
Edit: Actually you know what after watching the video to the end this game sounds extremely boring. I'll wait for a Sale instead I think.

The synopsis I'm getting from this review is what I feared was coming on release. --
Incredibly fast paced to the detriment of exploration, unvaried world spaces lacking meaningful changes from each individual run, a focus on min-maxing night bosses not allowing for experimentation with equipment and classes, and a fundamental game design requiring three players.

Lol it's OK to say it sucks man. I think most of us knew it would as soon as we heard about it. I'm sure there's a small community of souls players that will love it, but the majority of us need the RPG element, the exploration, that wildly dark but beautiful artistic design, and the lore that makes the series a complete experience. This shit is just organized chaos

the game only good for multiplayers, if you want to play solo you won't enjoy it because you will be running like a dog all time from the damn zone, and when you done running well time to get fked by horde or enemies to face them alone, i won't even talk about the boss most of the things are just CTRL C/CTRL V from elden ring

My only problem with this before you buy is the fact that lot of the negatives were based on comparison with Elden Ring, which, yes it has the same name, but since day 1 they were pretty clear on what the game was and what it wasn't. I think the only strong negative is the fact that the randomization is quite lackluster.

Seems like the only issue I see from the game is the near lack of multiplayer passion from Bandai Namco. Don’t be shocked, go look through their multiplayer catalogue and they all have zero to minimal invest. Only Tekken 8 and some other games have support like cross play. They always do this, their CEO uh gotta go lol

I still think this is a step forward for the games industry. Taking a super successful IP and making something completely unique and original with it (within the confines of the genre. And no micro transactions I wish it was a little better so that From and other companies would see the success and start following suit.

Thank you for your review. I was on the fence about it. Elden Ring is literally my favorite game. However, I will not be spending $80 of my hard earned money to have people quit mid match and wreck it. It would be one thing if it had scaling difficulty like you said. It can’t be that hard to change it for From.

I would pay $5 for this at most. It doesn't look fun, the Fortnite style is NOT Elden Ring. However, funny how they said they want to move on from Elden Ring completely but make a random in universe style spin off. I'm pretty much maxed out on my time with Elden Ring having done close to 500 hours.

Unless you have a dedicated group of friends to play with and plenty of time, you just won't enjoy this game nearly as much. As a hardcore Fromsoft fan, I have to pass. I have kids so I can't drop everything for a 40 min. run, and my friends won't play this all the time so it's not worth it

Imagine if they added a new setting / areas, some more varied enemies, and maybe some lore / story as to why players find themselves in a new area.
Balance the one and two person experience, tweak it a bit, and add some enemy variety - we’re cooking with hot grease at that point.
