Thank you for the Before You Buy on The Precinct Gameranx!
I’ve been following and wanting
The Precinct ever since it was announced and I definitely preordered and paid in full the second I could.
I started playing it on launch day and finished it the next day because I couldn’t put it down!
My total hours:
15-hrs a platinum trophy
Positives:
Great aesthetics/graphics/neo-noir vibes
Great synthwave soundtrack
Driving is fun & responsive making car chases alot of fun!
(one of my favorite parts of the game)
Arrests and charges wheel mechanic is diverse and fun
Options to make arrests easier is most welcome
(auto charges on suspect vs. having to pick the right ones or if you don’t want your partner to deal with it)
Like the support options during helicopter, car chases, and foot patrol to keep things interesting
Decent skill tree, weapon selection, and vehicle selection to suit your play style
Decent amount of side content like racing, time trials, etc
Patrols happening day and night very cool
Plenty of different shifts to choose from/addictive gameplay loop giving it that one more patrol feeling
/-A few minor bugs and other hiccups but nothing that breaks the game performance overall
Negatives:
-Gunplay needs work as targeting is a bit awkward at times
(I found some weapons are better than others when it comes to targeting and more powerful weapons obviously more effective making gun fights less time consuming)
-Tackling animation is funny and a bit weird
-Multiple crimes happening at once sometimes in the same spot as the crime you’re addressing at the moment. - utter chaos!
getting addressed possibly with announced patch
-No option to play as bad cop/renegade cop that plays by their own rules - a missed opportunity there!
(DLC maybe Please)
-Story is okay not great and some of the voice acting is meh but not too bad it’s serviceable and kinda funny at times
-Fail states can feel a bit unfair as a lot of times things happen that are beyond your control or getting penalized for handling situations even if it’s the appropriate choice in a particular moment
(example: suspect was shooting at me, I returned fire and hit suspect, suspect then surrenders, and I get penalized for returning fire or vehicle blows up and penalties for injuring civilians)
/-Too short left me wanting more but at the same time doesn’t overstay its welcome
-Little incentive to keep playing after the game is finished
(I’m hoping for some DLC or a sequel)
Overall I recommend giving it a try
I’d give it an 8 or even a 9 out of 10 because this is the kind of game I’ve been wanting for so long!
An indie game that gets so many things right and I really want more of it!
The game definitely leaves you wanting more in a good way!
It’s good fun for a day or two, isn’t world changing, and I’m hoping the upcoming patch announced by Fallen Tree Games irons out the bugs and other annoyances and I sincerely hope The Precinct does well enough to warrant getting more content and possibly a sequel!
Thank you for reading!

Lot of people keep saying they wish Rockstar would make a game like this. They kind of did. Or at least they helped with, finished, produced a game like this. I guess weve forgotten LA Noire It was more structured than this. You didnt just go in patrol and take random calld but you were a detective in a 50s LA Confidential style open world. You worked youd way up taking cases. Got in police chase and shoot outs. Worked cases in by far the most intricate way ever in a game. Lile you really had to be careful collecting evidence and interviewing suspects. It was very easy to mess up a case and not get your man or at least not in ideal way and Im sure most people did. It didnt hold your hand in investigations. It also had a very good story and sort of slightly slowed down more realistic GTA 4 controls and combat. It was pretty great and worth playing today. Unfortunately the studio that made it got shut down and although it did well it didnt make typical Rockstar money. We are unlikely to ever get a sequel but theres been talk of a remake/remaster. Speaking of which I really hope Oblivion convinces more companies to make remakes and remasters. Even in the exactly Oblivion way of a new engine over the bones of an old. KOTOR 1 and 2, Gothic (which I know KOTOR and Gothic are supposedly being remade but Im not holding my breath, especially on KOTOR) RDR 1, LA Noire, Morrowind, Fallout 3, New Vegas, Dragon Age Origins (cough, better than BG3, cough. So many great all time games that are way better than a VAST majority ot what we get today that younger generations never got to play and older generations would love an excuse to play again with a new coat of paint. Ideas for remakes

Played this the past couple nights (6. 3 hours according to Steam, and the overriding thought I have had is it's great proof of concept. The folks at Gameranx are correct when they say the game is light on story but doesn't really suffer from it. I am going to see this one through to completion because the action and the one-more-shift-before-I-go-to-bed hook has been set. That said, a more robust story with better writing and voice acting alongside more in-world events would be welcomed if the studio expands pursues a sequel. Happy to see the team behind it announced today they intend to add more content to the game.

Looks like a pick up and play, put down, and come back to. I wish there was a more open world game like GTA where you can roll play as a cop, firefighter, ems, etc, that's all multi-player for consoles. Even have politics where mayor, sheriff, DA, city council is elected by the players. I know people do it with mods on PC but with all the push for live service games, I think an MMO where cops communicated whith their own dispatch and other 1st responders in a city sim would be great. If you want to be part of a gang or just a thug you can do that but have real-life consequences such as jail if caught

I have avoided most cop games for a few reasons. This one while definitely not perfect and having a legal education, I struggle when know what done technically fits multiple other crimes the game isn't meaning and getting punished because of it but the games very very fun and I don't mind the lack of story and the repetitiveness given game advertises as a sandbox too. I do however wish they would do it so could have a 18 add on that gives us blood and more language so the broken immersion from the avoidance disappears

While this game looks fun and I probably will pick it up in the future, I’ve gotta say I’m really disappointed by the UI. All the menus looks so bland, overly clean and iPhone-esque. Doesn’t match the gritty, dark 80’s big city vibes at all. I know it’s a minor nitpick but a game like this really should not have the same UI as that crappy Taxi Life game that came out a while back

I love this game and it kind of irritates me at the same time. It reminds me of old school GTA but I wish they could get rid of the end day requirement. Also if I try to pull over a car and they run off and hit another vehicle or pedestrian I get a bad check mark for trying to arrest them for hit and run and other options.

Damn I was lost within the first few minutes:
- can’t be a corrupt cop
- not an open world
- the story is dry
- went for pg Bro I’m completely out
I want this game but made for adults who can choose to be a hero, a corrupt cop or someone who breaks the rules to get the job done.

I want an open world cop game with the rawness of Sleeping Dogs or True Crime. That is not a very kiddie friendly format. It needs to be graphic and gory to really depict the cop/crime experience. A modern day True Crime from both cop and criminal perspectives would be great.

Somewhere in the future there will be a game that combines this casual approach with the world building level of detail from Disco Elysium, all along with the with the gameplay style of Ready or Not. On that day, I will be a happy boy. Might try this out in the meanwhile

Hey Falcon. I don't want to make a big deal out of this, but the last few videos I've heard you do, you flub a few sentences. Haven't noticed it before and it kinda jumped out at me. Are you doing okay Just a little concerned cause that's unusual for you. At least to me.

One time I stopped my car behind another car at a red light. This car had done nothing wrong, but I accidentally turned on my siren, and this guy just took off like a maniac. It turned out he had illegal items in his possession. I loved the randomness of it.

I'm addicted to this game. It can be a bit glitchy at times. I've had to abandon calls a few times because of it. For example, I was chasing a female that jumped over a rail, fell into the road, and disappeared. Never saw her again.

A Mad Max game in this kind of format could be interesting. Either as a preamble to the Apocalypse, watching society rapidly decay into madness, or take place well over 20 or more years after the end of the world.

Not sure if it was on purpose, but I loved the 3: 10 reference to chasing Criminal scum! Right as the criminal he was chasing yells back Hey, I know you. Superb Elder Scrolls reference! Well done, Falcon.

the only issue I have with this game is that even at low graphics I get 40-45 fps a bunch of the time. may as well turn on med or high preset and cap the game to 30fps and used an fps generator

I got it and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Thanks for the before you buy. Hopefully this gets enough sales to get us a sequel.
To maybe work our way up to detective solving murder crimes
